  • it’s a killer combination of pretty long, compulsively moreish, and… not actually very good :D

I’ve read the Dark Tower twice but struggled to finish The Stand. They both start off well but go down hill, and the author comes across as a bit of a cock.

Its put me off his other stuff, is it any different/better?

Do you think M&S gave them a discount on the 26 identical suits?

Personally I would never charge my kids rent and would give them everything I had.

    Will you adopt me?

Get yourself an electric bike for Swinley. Then you don’t even have to bother to pedal.

Socialise them???? Does he buy them a pint or something?

I think its more akin to potty training

    From FC England –

“Our mission is to protect and expand forests and woodlands and increase their value to society and the environment.”

The Forestry Commission have a lot of buiness income streams (selling trees being just one of them). A lot of the public access/recreation stuff is not seen as a business, its part of what they are tasked to do under their charter. It doesn’t have to generate any income, but if it does (through carparks, or leasing out to Go Ape etc.) it helps balance the books.

Or thats what I’ve been told anyway.

Just find one that has regular deliveries of fresh fish instead of bulk deliveries of frozen.

Fellow on the telly the other week, from an “award winnnig” chippy, reckoned it was best to keep the fish frozen for a couple of months. Doesn’t affcet the flavour and the fried product has a better texture, (apparently).

Does it mention the drop in Vegan Food outlets?

But this will be offset by the upturn in Cheesburger sales

Interesting that the guy in the woods picked the OP up about pedal reflectors. I’d be surprised if many non-cyclists knew that a BSI amber reflector was a legal requirement after dark.

If that was her first cheesburger after a lifetime of humous and brocolli, you’ve probably just given her a case of the screaming shits.

I cancelled my Red Cross donation due to constant pestering for more, they got ruder and ruder to the point where one pillock told me I was being selfish.

Mrs SWSD had the same problem with the Red Cross. We reckon, what with all the telephone calls, letters and unsolicited “free gifts” they have probably spent more in harassing her than they got from the initial series of donations.

S’not gonna do them mush good when the mud chucked up by tht front tyre coats the engine though is it?

    Good point.

This reminds me of the Derny’s you ride behind on the track. They can go pretty fast, although the frames tend to be beefier.

What exactly is that front mudguard supposed to do?

Same principle as stretching an inner tube across the top of the forks.

I looks like it might work, especially at 40mph in the wet!

I suppose it would need a number plate, tax and an MOT?

I read about it this morning, but felt a bit underwhelmed by the challenges, considering they are supposed to “help solve one of the greatest issues of our time”

eg, The Dementia Challenge is to invent something to help people live with dementia. That doen’t really solve the issue of dementia.

I think perhaps the water desalination one is the best. It seems more focused and more achievable than the others.

So come on then – what’s your great idea or does the extent of your protest

I have no idea what to do about it, that doesn’t mean I condone a barbaric act.

I’m astounded that some people on this thread seem to think its absolutely fine for a state to kill somebody because of that individual’s religious belief.

As far as I can tell their reasons seem to be:

    a. The Americans do it, so we can’t criticise anyone else.

    b. We shouldn’t judge others by our standards, becasue we are rich and they aren’t

    c. There is nothibng we can do about, so it must be OK.

    and voting for the BNP?

Pay attention, it was UKIP. Farage would probably suggest invading the Sudan, which at least would be doing something.

Loving all the apologists for Sudanese Sharia law.

A brown person is going to be murdered in a poor land far away but thats OK because we’re rich and white and shouldn’t judge them by our standards.

That’s hand wringing liberal relativism disappearing up its own fundament.

Its enough to make me want to vote UKIP

I think of it as a sliding scale, with no clear divding lines.

    planning
    avoidance (that works)
    avoidance (that doesn’t work)
    Evasion
    Fraud

Most people that talk about avoidance are probably thinking about tax planning.

schemes like the one Gary Barlow was involved in.

I dont think that was illegal (ie. evasion) it was an avoidance scheme which failed to work. i.e some clever accountant thought he had spotted a loophole, but hadn’t.

    Parliamentary democracy

And “cash” can often just mean an immediate payment – by cash, cheque or debit card. A lot better for a business than waiting 30 – 90 days for someone to settle an invoice.

    Dyson vs. Henry
    Nespresso machine vs. nescafe instant
    Apple v. PC

The expensive stuff may be better, but not better enough to justify the extra cost.

    :D

Only time I’ve driven in a convertable with the roof down was through the middle of Slough.

It was noisy, dirty and I kept thinking we were going to get mugged. It put me right off owning one.

I don’t normally even bother to ask the price. Just tell them that my man will be along to settle up later.

Of course, REALLY posh people tend to buy Smart Price or Happy Shopper.

The strength of microwave radiation is inversley proportional to the incidence of sunspots. We are in a low sunspot cycle at the moment so the microwaves are really powerful.

I believe you can buy a special power cable that cancels this out.

    Introduce rats to your attic.

They eat the new eggs and the starlings don’t come back.

Then you just have to work out how to get rid of the rats.

but a subtle tattoo ring is going to be my solution to the same problem

I wonder how the risks of getting a tattoo compare to the risks of wearing a ring.

    Pubic Hair

A lot of lads of a certain age belive that pubic hair on a female is wrong, because the clean shaven look is what they are exposed to on internet porn sites. They also expect girls to be really skinny and to enjoy “swallowing” for the same reason.

A lot of girls of a certain age feel pressured into conforming to these expectations.

    Or so I’ve been told.

The ability to kill prostitutes on GTA isn’t much of an issue compared to the tidal wave of everyday sexism that people don’t even notice.

I’ve had both front and rear QRs come loose in my CX bike. The trails round here can be quite rattly on 32mm tyres, but it was probably becasue I didn’t do them up properly.

However, I could tell the instant they came loose and stopping (on rim brakes) wasn’t an problem. Might not notice on a disc equipped suspension fork though.

If the roofer has invoiced you for work that wasn’t done, do you need to pay his invoice at all? Would you be within your rights just to ignore it?

    Frikkin

    “boils my piss”

    “grinds my gears”

    iconic

    “hard working families”

    “we’re all in this together”

    fair

I am pointing out that it is precisely the excesses of the left that have caused it and education being just one of them.

I don’t see that the left has been any more excessive than the right (or anybody else for that matter).

e.g Ignoring Magna Carta is just as bad as turning into so sort of cornerstone of the English way of life. Michael Gove’s attempt to re-invent WW1 is just as bad as basing your views entirely on “Oh what a lovely war”

I reckon part of UKIPs popularity is because the English love loonies. Just look at Boris Johnson.

Maybe, but only after they have an understanding of Magna Carta, the Civil War,

The point about history, your real history rather than the Alf Garnett/UKIP view spouted by certain people, is there might (just possibly) be more than one way of “understanding” something like Magana Carta or the Civil Wars.

But don’t let proper historical debate get in the way of your propaganda.

So you don’t know anything about the basis of the freedom of the individual and the right to trial then

I know it states that no freeman can be punished except through the law of the land. But why should I give a shit? I’m a serf. And a woman.

Only shave if you are skinny, have a tan and enough leg muscle definition to pull it off.

Otherwise you’ll just look like a guy whose other hobby is dressing up in women’s clothes.
