I managed to get a secondhand (as new) Bagaboo after a month watching ebay with a an alert. They are the best IMO, i’ve had Crumpler, Manhattan Portage and looked at Timbuk2 non are quite up to the spec of Bugaboo.

I had issues with my Z-control’s. The rod that holds the springs in kept working loose to the point it disengaged on one side so the spring lost its tension.

If you start replacing springs, I bet this will lead to the rods loosening.

I built this Maverick Durance a couple of years ago I think it cost me 300GBP as most parts came from an older bike.

I use a Pebble Time everyday. I only use the Bike+ app when mountain biking as I don’t like having my Garmin on the bars as when I crash it usually flys off. I run Strava and the Bike+ app on my phone and my Pebble shows current speed and total distance whilst riding.

The Pebble is great for many things, mostly when commuting I can see who’s calling (and reject the call) without digging in my bag, I can read texts and reply by voice if its important.

It has an accurate pedometer, that I didn’t think I would use but I was surprises how little I walked when I ride to work so now I get up and walk far more. The sleep thing is very interesting also, I used to go to bed early when I thought i was tired, but found out I mainly didn’t get a good nights deep sleep if I did this. Now if I go to bed later I notice I get more deep sleep and feel fresher in the mornings.

Worth noting that the ability to reply to texts won’t work on iPhone unless you are on certain providers in the US.

I got the origonal Time second-hand for about 70GBP I don’t know if I want the Time2 for the better screen, heart rate monitor and better battery, as my watch does everything I want. Plus I can get funky Millennium Falcon watch-faces :)

Get on a QGIS course. Then work hard to get your LA to bin ESRI and save us tax payers a fortune.

Very much this! I wouldn’t be surprised if you can do everything your LA need in QGIS.

Get a B’Twin on the bike to work scheme, 500 quid and you will probably end up paying a lot less. Persevere with hand positions on the bars though. I remember that being the hardest thing when I first got a road bike, it feel like you have no padding but you really do get used to it.

I have a Pebble Time, its pretty good and validates well against my iPhone. It does lots of other things as well though. I only paid 75 pounds for mine second hand. I like the option to see texts whilst riding without having to get my phone out. Its much more configurable than most activity trackers so you can decide what it does for you. Plus you can change the watch face any time you like.

I picked this whole F2000 bike up for about 150GBP. Fitted some slicks, I may put drops on it seeing on and on’s one up there

I need a bigger chain ring and 42 doesn’t cut it on the road really. I have taken it on gravel tracks and its great fun :)

For planning routes, I use http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/create/ then save the .GPX file to “new files” on my edge, it then converts it to the Garmin format. I still get all the turn notifications.

I might try my touring on Ubuntu tonight but I usually use Win10 and Garmin Connect.

Peter Jackson shot alot of King Kong here and bits of loads of LOTR but my local trails go through where they built the model of Dale in The Hobbit.

Open it up as much as you can, might need a specific screwdriver. What make and model is it?

Get down to the bare boards and let them dry out on a hot radiator, rice probably won’t help at all. If you have any silica gel bags from new shoes or electronics stick them on the board as well.

I find TRP Spyres to be a bit better than BB7’s but they are great for pretty much all terrain.

I’ve always found NZ immigration/customs super helpful. Did you steam clean your tyres before bringing it in to the country? They’re deadly serious about bio-security.

I’m a size 14 as well, I find Diadora fit well as they have a wide option also. I’ve noticed that recent Shimano shoes have been coming up small and I have had to go for 51 where as before I could manage with a 48/49.
