I’m surprised you’re commenting about offence and being offended in a humorous way Solo, didn’t you have a little incident where other users got banned because you were upset by what they’d said about you?

On the face of it, you’d think lots of members would lurv to ban others. However, upon further reflection, I wouldn’t want that power or that job. Think about that.

In the meanwhile, members get themselves banned. So as much as some members irritate other forum members, it’s only by their own hand they are smote by the keepers of the ban hammer.

I hope that clears things up for you.

It’s a computer “program” when referring to software precisely because it was originally coined in the US (see also floppy disk and hard disk versus compact disc; the first two are American inventions, the second a joint venture between the non-American companies Philips and Sony).

I’d casually, politely, disagree with that, if I may.
Being the first to invent something, as great as that may be, doesn’t bestow upon the inventor, the right to incorrectly spell disc.
    Just my view.

I have a large car, powered by a Euro 6, diesel engine.
While it would make less sense to power that car with a petrol engine, I would have liked the choice. The OEM which produces my car for sale in other markets, offers my car with a petrol engine, not available in the UK.

If by some horrific accident of fate,I “needed” to drive a small car.
Yes, with latest petrol developments, I believe that after the appropriate vacinations, I could, drive a small petrol powered car.
Although I suspect it would be some sort living hell.
    **shudders**

So, if I’m buying a large, heavy car, it would be the cleanest diesel.
smaller car would not be diesel.

Oh and the villification of private diesels cars is unsurprisingly over looking the older Euro engined commercial vehicles.
The current fleet of black cabs in my city emit such a dense, toxic fune, that I’d suggest haters start there!

Oh dear. STW SJWs (STJWs ?) have mauled this.

Cougar isn’t racist, we all know this, so stop your stirring!

It can be difficult to find words to accurately convey our thoughts. We’ve all got it a little wrong at sometime or another.
    Just leave it.

As for the sky shack. It appears to be a poorly constructed structure. Doesn’t look to be capable of withstanding the winter weather we have in the UK.
Were it a ground based structure then not so much of an issue. But an elevated construction needs to be reasonably capable of not collapsing on a passer by.

I’d wonder if the roof of the garage has been sufficiently modified to support a number of people or whatever, being up there.

Nope. Dangerous to those who built it and anyone nearby.
The Architect needs saving from themselves.

However, be careful how you go about complaining.
The builder may decide to look into regs and planning and might construct, sky shack II ?

Finally, it never ceases to amaze me how selfish neighbours can be. Those who built sky shack may be happy to make the place look worse. But it also shows a huge lack of regard for the people they live along side.

I read at the weekend that Joe Friel also has a low carb high fat diet.

While I’m unsure who you’re referring to. I’d suggest the phrase “low carb” is the “Significant[/i]” part of the message.

I’ve seen reports of ultra runners training their bodies to derive as much as 96% of their energy expenditure from fat.

When one considers the competitive advantages of maximizing fat burn during an endurance event. It’s 100% a goal.

Consider, storing fat brings the most weight efficient method of energy storage.
While storing carbs also requires storing water, which increases body weight. Which in-turn is a bad thing for endurance athletes.

Utilizing and maximizing fat storage and useage during an endurance event, is the future. While carbs are still required, they will not be the mainstay, in future endurance event competition.
Rather how well adapted an athlete is to utilizing fat stores, will be a determining factor, imo.

“If you gave up sugar entirely you’d die,”

what a load of tosh. Carbohydrate is the only non essential nutrient.

I think the confusion comes about that the brain can’t survive without glucose but then that can be produced in the body by protein or fat (gluconeogenesis)

Quite possibly one of my all time top 3 posts I’ve ever read on this forum!
    :D

Furthermore, the brain can and will “function” on ketones.

Further, furthermore, more endurance athletes are now looking into the benefits and advantages of training, ketogenically.

For endurance sports, the future’s bright, the future is fat!
    Enjoy.

Just make sure you nip-up the bolts before page two, but don’t actually announce this fact, until at least page 5……… And if you dupe a mod into getting “involved” bonus points ;-)

In general, Volkswagen AG (VAG) are very shyte at dealing with issues not resolved during development.

In my experience, unless absolutely called out and forced to do so, then while VAG will become aware of an issue, they typically remain silent and rely on customers to report back after which VAG “may” fix, on an individual basis.
This is a much cheaper strategy for VAG, than to roll out region wide network TSBs to fix, x,y,z, whenever an effected vehicle roles into a dealership.

Other OEMs use the TSB system in a much more ethical manner, where they will notify dealerships to carry out rectification when a car comes in. Quite often, customer will have no idea the OEM has carried out any additional, corrective work. Imo, this is how the TSB system should be operated.

With regard to this particular issue. As others have indicated, it’s a known problem. VAG is hoping drivers discover this, at their own expense.

While not being familiar with the specific design of the intake hose system on the OP’s unspecified vehicle. Is it not possible to deploy jubilee clips to compress the hose ends against their adjoining parts?…

But is there too many people in one place?

The two houses opposite mine have had their sitting rooms converted into a fourth, self contained room. Two houses contain at least 8 people from the EU.
They pay high rents for a single room.

I don’t see that as good progress but the price those people are paying for a different chance and to boost the economy.

But are these the living conditions that should typify living in 21C UK.

I’ve worked with grads who still live in shared houses, after Uni and getting a good job.

Yeah. Looks like its heading in the direction all these threads head in.

Anyone who wants to restrict immigration is shouted down as a racist.

    Bickering about the financial economics.

What about the simple concept of too many people?
Too many people in a place?
Irrespective of their ethnicity, language, whatever.

Questioning if there may be too many people in a place, isn’t racism. It’s pragmatism.

What shall we do, concrete over the entire UK?

Increased population is an issue most likely unsolved until Women gain true equality in education and employment.
Then population will come under control and questions of whether there are too many people in a place should cease.

Rest assured, with having to make up so many places. Rosberg drove his car as hard as possible (in dirty air). Then, notwithstanding, to set lap times so similar to Lewis, as Rosberg could. Rosberg has used his engine just as hard as he can.

I’m no LH fan, by any stretch of the imagination. But even I now struggle to dismiss his results as “bad luck”.
As others have said. Events are now accumulating to such a level that exceeds normal statistics.

imo, LH has every right to call out Mercedes and to now publically hold Merc’s feet to the flame, for the remainder of the season.

I agree, but I’m not reaching for the tinfoil just yet. Although something isn’t right and we’re not the only ones to think so….

‘It doesn’t sit right with me’

    Hamilton seeks answers from Mercedes
    Posted at09:59

My question is to Mercedes. We have so many engines made for drivers, but mine are the only ones failing this year. Someone need to give me some answers because this is not acceptable. We are fighting for the championship and only my engines are failing. It does not sit right with me.  I will try and recollect myself and try to get myself together for the race next week. There are many decisive races but this is one of those. Someone doesn’t want me to win this year but I won’t give up. I will keep pushing.

I’m sure some statistical whizz, could crunch the numbers on NR and LH’s 2016 campaign. I wouldn’t be surprized to learn the odds of one side of the garage having so many engine failures is not within normal odds.
Weren’t the garage crews swapped for 2016?

I’ve yet to hear anyone explain how me approaching in the middle lane, (which is clearly marked for “straight on” by two sets of arrows on approach) would fit with the Highway Code saying

The middle lane at the entrance is incorrectly marked wrt to that lane on the roundabout splitting into two lanes.

The middle lane of the approach should have a combined ahead and left arrow as has been painted in lane one of the eastern approach road.

Problem is NOT ONE BASTARD indicates! From A2 to B2 a LEFT indicator would inform C traffic that they can come out.

Shouldn’t you be waiting for said traffic to complete their move, before pulling onto the roundabout/exiting a junction.
Irrespective of what the little yellow lights are telling you?

    GrahamS – Member
No it isn’t. As per the TSRGD the arrows indicate “Appropriate Traffic Lanes for Different Destinations

But the lane later splits in two, so taking exit one or exit two is fine.

As for approaching the roundabout in the middle lane?

Simple, left lane is clagged with folk who’ve never used that roundabout before. So you take the middle lane to turn left, with the intention of cutting in, with the application of the relevant indicator.

But hey! You soon discover you can hang a left anyhow.
    Sorted!!

I did wonder if this would stand up in court.”Right sonny, did you not see all those arrows telling you that this lane is ahead only. You can’t turn left there!”

That arrow is saying stay in a lane, which very soon splits into two lanes.
    ;-)
