iDave is right. The new direction my daily diet has taken is completely sustainable as far as I’m concerned.
I will happily go on as I have been. In some ways its better than before.
For one, I just don’t feel hungry most of the time now, and it was feeling hungry between meals that use to drive me to making bad eating decisions.

I’ve just demolished around 700ml of lentils with Cod chunks, Bacon, carrot, cumin, salt, oregano and tabasco souce, all washed down with water. And I feel way better than if, like all those around me right now, I’d have eaten a huge sandwich.
    They’ll be hungry by 4:00pm.
I’ll not get home until way after 10:00pm tonight, and I’ll feel fine.

Its a fact, that those blessed with natural slenderness just can’t get their heads around how easy it is for some folk to lard-up.
And so they will naturally find it hard to accept that iDaves advise works.

That’s a nice way of saying ‘my god you fat ugly b*stard’

No mate. Although I have already seen the light.
As I’ve pointed out before, I’m a dumb dumb and I know it.
I admit I’m not in the heavy weight league here on STW, but like the rest of us, I keep coming back for more.
Heck, I’m not even drinking enough water. Who needs to be told to drink more water ?. Only I could get such a simple thing wrong.

So I meant what I posted. You’ve got balls, I couldn’t do that, or if I did, the mods would see their “report post” inbox simply light up and burn baby burn. Some pictures are just too terrible to release.

Incidentally, what was your weight back then ?, you say you’re down to around 84Kg now. How much have you managed to lose, and are you happy with what you have achieved, so far ?.

I wasn’t tasting the bottles themselves, just the water in them.

You may scoff, but you can taste the difference between waters of differing origins, and defo tap water. Yuck !.

    Bimbler.
As the others have suggested, stick something in the batter to “pep-up” those flat breads.

    eye bleach ?.

Nah, we’d all need MIND BLEACH

Although it would seem that some of us here….. have already had enough of that particular beverage.

Just keep necking drinks Solo. Take some squash to work with you if you’re not really a fan of water. Force yourself to down a glass every couple of hours.

If you want help with off days I can sort out a plan for you

Thanks TSY but squash is out cept for the “Mad day” once a week.
Thanks too for the offer of assistance, will it require that I wear speedos to work ?.
    :-D

EDIT: Water is great, I’ve been on the water for ages. I prefer Evian now. It amazed me when not too long after I started drinking only water during the days, that I could taste the difference between the brands.
Its easy now to taste the difference between Evian and Volvic, for example.
Yet when I started, it all tasted the same.
    Mad, innit.

Yeah, seems I’ve wandered off the path, some how, I’ll have to try to make more time to drink.

    Bimbler.

Ref the bread thing, Motivforv’s gram flour bread is good and will go well with a Chilli.
That gram flour bread is one of thebest things I’ve discovered through these discussions.
    Thanks Motivforv ;-)

    500ml water a day??? 1 Pint? I neck a pint when I wake up!

    I knew it, I’m in trouble, aren’t I.

that’s not really a day off solo – you need a proper go at food. lots of it too, and include bad stuff.

Busy decorating the flat in prep for sale, but will try harder. Thanks.
    ;-)

How am I doing on the water front ?, if some people ^^^^^ are drinking 8 pints of water a day. This just makes me wonder. I don’t drink tea or coffee anyway, literally one 500ml bottle at work with me during the day, and I don’t always finish that. Then just a glass of water or wine(2 glasses, hic !) with evening meal.

I’m wearing the Breitling Chrono Colt this week.

May break out the omega next week.

I was wearing a werner flying watch on Saturday.

I had the Fossil on the week before, the fossil is my newest watch.

I haven’t worn the Baume and Mercier for ages now, nor the Sekonda.

I drink about 500 – 750ml water a day. I think I’d struggle to do more. How come I appear to drink so little ?, do I need to increase this and if so, why ?.

weight wise I do seem to have plateaued

Also, I may not be going for it hard enough on the day off.
from memory, last Saturday. For breakfast I some lentils and bacon, later I did a snicker bar, for lunch I had a cheese sandwich, with chilli for evening meal. Followed with some beer and wine.

I don’t normally eat late at night and I have also heard that doing so may not be good for one.
But that could be a myth, On this subject (weight loss, diet), there are a fair few flying around, I’ve found.

Best advice I’ve had so far is that elephants kill you, lions kill you and eat you and hyenas just eat you – keen to avoid hyenas

Well, that’ll keep you on the move.

    TSY.

    Is this you ?

No need to suit up. Saturday is the designated day off, so the single can of beer in the fridge can wait till then.

Anyway, can’t go mad tonight, I’m moving most of my worldly goods into storage tomorrow, so I’ll be piloting a transit van in the AM. At speeds somewhat less than Mach 2 and definately not while inverted.

No mate, I never really got into that omelette thing.
Its been a long hard week and I’m ready to wobble off the wagon.
Worse still, I happen to know, that there is a cold can of Heiniken in the fridge, and I can’t get the thought of how good thats going to taste, out of my head. Or perhaps a night cap in the form of a glass of red.

    1fp.

Thats an excellent idea and you’ve reminded me about a guy in an office I once worked in who made….. Curry flavoured popcorn.
    That was flipping luvly.
might be worth applying the same principal to chickpeas I reckon.
Mix up some dry spices and coat freshly cooked warm chickpeas in said curry or chilli spices. Then allow to cool and dry.
I bet they’d beat the heck out of crisps.
I wonder how that would work out with some of those flatbreads.

Ooh !, the combinations are limitless, its great.

iDave does advise alterations to his suggestion on low GI, if you are competing, etc.

Get yourself over to RST sport, have a look around there.
    Can’t hurt to look.

    TSY.

Totaly agree. After reading your training schedule, eating as I do wouldn’t be sufficient, I’m guessing.

At the moment my opportinuty to exercise is very restricted on a time and location basis, so sticking to the low gi and just three squares a day, suits me for now.

    Molgrips.
As you have posted in upper case letters, its about the GI. But feel free to try Mayo and report back here.
    :-)

Furthermore, I was under the impression that the liver produces LDLs and so its an indirect link between what you eat and what your cholestrerol levels may be. Not withstanding the gut’s propensity to absorb LDLs out of the blood stream, etc, etc.

I would say it is. Mayonnaise = eggs and oil, no? Both of which are in. And the rest of it is just veg?

I’d be looking at the GI rating for Mayo myself, were I not convinced on the basis of no evidence at all, that mayonaise is an A class artery clogger.

I use to like it, but there is life after Mayo and Salad cream.

Alternatively I’ll find something new to be addicted to…

Another interesting point. I heard the head of WW being interviewed in R4 about a year ago.

He spoke of research in the US that had discovered the same “reward” receptors in the brain were stimulated when the subject consumed “junk food” as when a person uses drugs.

Their brains rewarded them for eating pizza, burgers, whatever.

Hence why som find it so difficult to change, they are addicted to the, errr, bad stuff ?.

    TSY.

Well, its not so much a specific age, my curiousity is more to do with when people get older versus their very well established eating habits, carried forward from when they were much younger / active.

My thinking is that as people age, they may not be able to exercise to an intensity that will allow them to burn off the lard they would otherwise store, were they to stick to a more everyday, carby diet from their youth.

So, carrying on from that, I’m thinking, if I develop alternative eating habits now and take them with me into older life, I hope to be sufficiently equiped on a dietary basis, to be able to avoid later life spread. Maybe ?.

I think that the meals I have come to like, the ones I have discovered here, dsicussing the iDave diet, and on my own, will stay with me and so hopefully assist with keeping my weight under control for the rest of my life. Not forgetting the importance of exercise too. ;-)

I also note that I enjoy exercise more when I’m a lighter weight.

Thing is… with the times that I exercise I though I might be ok with my current eating

I wonder, do you think you will execise as much when you are 60 years old, as you do currently.
    (genuine curiousity)

According to our lord and master, this diet will get you down to 10-12% body fat
