Veterinary nurse! Absolutely love my job! …..wish I had loved my honours degree more as I would then at least have been able to earn some real dosh. However, at least I get up every morning with excitement of what the day may bring !

It was on the river crossing bit on the 4th lap, he came up behind (fnnarr) & started bitching about not being fast enough/strong enough or whatever & to get out the way, tbh I couldn’t care less. Seeing some of the fast boys help out the clumsy is always good to

I’m pretty sure I was right behind you when that happened. Really wish I had taken his number to report! Hopefully his Conscience will take over now and not let that happen again in such a fantastic race!

Thank you so much all of you! Race organisers, marshals, supporters and fellow riders! A bunch of truly wonderful people 🙂 My first race ever and after the nerves settled, the giggles started!!!!
    Wonderful, truly wonderful!
Thank you Jane, Julian & Kat, your words of encouragement were greatly received and it also felt great doing some ‘synchronised’ mountain biking over the table tops with some lovely fella 🙂 felt almost artistic!
Mr Sparkle, your signs were a joy…. And you seemed to ‘pop’ up all over the place to cheer everyone on! Marshal at number 10 – by eck you were very good at getting people to the top of that monstrous hill 🙂
May see you all again next year 😉
    Thank you one again xxx

I wouldn’t bother clipping claws I’m afraid. Cats claws are made up a bit like an onion ( if you can imagine that!) lots of ‘layers’. When you clip them, all it takes is a few ‘scratches’ to get than back to needle sharp status once more!
Believe it or believe it not, cats are loners. They don’t like one another. Scratching could be an indication that she feels the need to stake here claim to that area or even just make her presence known.
I would strongly suggest Feliway. It’s very expensive but worth the time and effort!
It’s a feline appeasing pheromone. Buy, introduce to important areas of house and wait 6-8weeks.
    Good luck! 🙂

Ok. Months of trialling different tyres….I’ve decided on black ones.
Then I looked at suspension- this caused tons of problems as my first bike didn’t have any! Luckily I’ve been able to buy a bike that has ‘some’ for £50 🙂
Next was the outfit – I (luckily) have no white tights, instead, some black ones to hide the lumpy bumpy bits as much as possible.

My question is gloves!!!!!!!! What bloody colour do I go for???? 😉
For those that may be able to help I have a choice of pink or black….

I’m gonna have a massive smile on my face as much as i possibly can, and i plan on enjoying every minute of it since for me it’s a celebration that i’m alive and reasonably able bodied after almost dying 9 years ago through heart failure. now, my heart is more or less totally normal, i’m 6+ stone lighter than i was at that time and mentally i’m in the best place i’ve been in for years. got new brakes and tyres on my stiffee, got an entire wardrobe of clothes for every possible weather system (but mostly grim) and i’m more or less all set.

Liking your attitude! I’m looking forward to it too as I’ve decided to forget about being slow and just go have some fun 🙂

When you see me at the back with a blue PDSA top on and MASSIVE smile please say hi! Would love to put some names to faces …

    See you all there 🙂

    Thank you Maxlite!

I don’t see a problem in wearing white Lycra (if you’ve ‘got it’ of course!) but then again, I’m a newbie so I’ve no idea really. Any pictures available? 😉

There’s plenty of folks on here from in and around God’s Own City. However, on no account have anything to do with NBT, MartynS, solarpowered or Binners; they are total nutjobs who are in no way approachable, friendly, accomodating, knowledgeable or funny and none of them seem to have ANY idea of where the bar is

    *waves*

Hi ya nick! I’m new too and sometimes ride with the Marple group and can say its well worth the travel and effort 🙂

I live very close to Phillips park too – been out this afternoon in fact – the trails around here are great fun and ideal for starting out again! Feel free to email once you get a bike sorted

EDIT – you can bring your little hairy babies too, someone will be only too pleased to see them…

The hairy babies will have to stay at home I’m afraid, too much travelling for such a short trip. Maybe you and your lovely lady would like to take advantage of the wonderful single tracks here in north Manchester and hairy baby sit some time?!?!? Hmmmmm…. Just an idea 😉

Metacam is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDS), ideal for muscle ‘strain’ type things. If this is a neurological type problem then it’s unlikely to help. However, NSAIDS and steroids – which would possibly help a neurological type thing DON’T go together.
My first query would be: when has the vet asked you to go back? I would expect a small improvement by now if the Metacam was going to help. If there has been no improvement at all since seeing the vet, I would be tempted to go back asap and see what the vet says.
Also, sounds like the wee one is getting a bit distressed with this problem – being a ‘prey’ animal they can cope with an awful lot. If you are seeing a small amount of stress, it’s more than likely a lot more stressful than you actually think.
Hope this helps a little, all the best. Can’t be easy for you and your family.

I’m not into computers really and thus didn’t really realise what a forum was when I naively put my introductory ‘hello’ on here! I haven’t looked back though….
I’ve met some absolutely wonderful people via STW, including my boyfriend. I’ve learnt so much from everyone and can quite honestly say the banter is brilliant! There’s been many a time I’ve burst out laughing in the staff room too 😳
Some stuff especially the videos are truly inspiringThank you everyone!

Zero please do it, it’s so worth it! You could/ would save a life! Explain how you feel to the nurses when you get there ( they are used to it btw), & they will take you thro each step of the way! Make an appointment too so things run as smoothly as possible rather than sitting in a chair waiting for the ‘event’.
The tiny pain of the needle is minimal, and you will feel so proud of yourself for doing it afterwards!
Nice one Pigface, proud of you!

I believe it comes down to creating the atmosphere before bed as has been mentioned above. Take time to unwind before bed – reading, hot milk, cosy bath, sex etc… Lavander also helps – I know it’s a bit ‘girlie’ but it may be worth a try! You can get this essential oil from any health food shop. Few drops on your pillow is all that’s needed.
Stick with it! It’s sooooo worth it!

Gonna be a tad boring ( possibly) and suggest doing basic training exercises. Dogs like a Springers love completing tasks and pleasing you – I think he would love it and it obviously isn’t too taxing! An hour of this each evening would probably do you both the world of good 😀
Sit, roll over, give paw, fetch specific items from a few, turn to heel etcetc The list is endless!
Have fun whatever you up doing and it’s only a week to go!

    Bugger! Can’t do I’m afraid 😥
Have had a works doo organised for ages. Team building exercise involving lots of alcohol and out for a boogie in Manchester.
Won’t be able to move the next day for a hangover …..if all goes to plan of course! 😀

Will miss it a HUGE amount! Have a good one everyone!
