I’d spend a little bit and get something punture proof, Spesh armadillos are pretty good. Knowing the streets round my way id go for them, broken glass, grit everywhere. Something cheap will be flat in less than a mile!

How much does he weigh and how fast does he ride? As im quite large, 95Kg and use XT brakes/160mm rotors. Never have any problems stopping with just one finger. Why is he struggling with Minis?

I’m quite impressed with my ability to guess what bikes people ride though!

Probabaly around £3000. Will pay back over the years though, look after it and you’ll only need new cables, brake blocks and tyres every few thousand miles. Depending on usage of course.

Get something titanium, with Hope wheels and a shimano groupset. The rest is upto you, dependant on sizing requirements.

Others will have other ideas but that kind of set up will last for ages and servicing is a breeze.
