    And don’t get black spokes…please

Why is that? Are they heavy and slow?

Llandegla at the weekends is rubbish, in more ways that one.

Save it for a quiet weekday and you will have a far more rewarding time.

Or just buy a map and explore the other 99% of wales that isn’t being ridden.

    Shropshire/Welsh borders

That would be my choice, miles of trails and quiet lanes. Some good hills to earn your turns on as well, without being bike and body breaking.

Why do people always say “have a poo” etc?

Because it’s cost effective and safer. Come on, everyone knows that.

Do you not think that people with light bikes might just have worked it out for themselves?

    No, of course not.

Look at all the people with 20% body fat buying carbon road bikes thinking it will make them climbing gods.

to make people buy the more expensive gear?

    Yes

do they do it on purpose?

    Yes

I’ve had similar problems. Luckily my LBS is sympathetic to this sort of things and always willing to get “Medieval” on components if required!

Glad you managed to get everything to fit in the end, don’t give in to the marketing!

Tour de France race on itv4

Why didn’t the bunch wait for the stragglers when they fell off there bikes in the final 20km? I think i even saw one of the riders standing on a rivals wheel while he grappled with a twisted stem. Plus, no one mentioned the poor spectator who took one in the chest at full race speed.

Scum, all of them i say and they weren’t even drunk. Though can’t confirm if they where drugged or not, as that will have to wait for a full WADA investigation.

I’m a similar weight and have been riding XC717’s on Hope hubs for years with zero issues. Just one or two nipple tweaks here and there after rocky rides in Wales or the Lakes and that’s it.

As said above, it’s the quality of the build that counts. Decent spokes, brass nipples put together by someone experienced will last; regardless of who is riding them.

I live in Norfolk, so pretty much have to drive hours in any direction to find anything that resembles a hill.

You have the “black” route at Thetford don’t you? 😉

There are always angry drivers on the road. Just ignore and ride defensively.

Life is far to short to let it get to you.

(Though i do like projects idea)

    Mountain Equipment DragonFly 3XT

I’ve had the two man equivalent for a few years now. Has never let me down in some of the more interesting weather the UK has to offer. It’s light, pretty much rock solid if pitched correctly, plus easy to pack and spread around a pack if required. You also get some cool anodized alloy pegs with little MA logos on, which to be honest is the only reason i bought it!

On a slight downside it can turn into a bit of a sauna in summer conditions, though what tent doesn’t.

If i was to buy again it would be a ME Dragonfly.

+1 for Brechfa it’s another hour or so into Wales but worth it. You could do the Gorlech and the Raven in one day no problem and still get back in time for tea!

    AM – Marin

    PM – Penmachno

Start early and have a decent lunch break between the two. Will make an excellent days riding without any stress or afternoon energy slumps. Don’t listen to the trail riding gods who say they are dull to ride. Just try hard on the climbs and rip it up on the decents, as there are plent of sections that will test both legs and skill.

I’m yet to meet anyone who can ride the whole of the Marin without dabbing 😉

    Enjoy!

    Never had a problem.

Just splash some waster on the pads and ride downhill fast with your brakes on for 2 minutes. Repeat if it doesn’t fix it the first time.

Didnt have any lights on, but as there werent any cars I decided to go on the road. Was fully intending to nip on to the pavement if one turned up.

Darwin would have something to say about this.

So whats likely to happen next?

You will have scars and not be able to ride propoerly for a while.

Can you not check the statements? As that’s a serious amount of cash to just vanish each month, unless she has a wiggle account of course!

Seoul 1988 London 2012 – The Seoul London Games will always be remembered not for helping to bring democracy bankruptcy to a sleeping failed economic giant, but for the biggest Olympic scandal of all time – Ben Johnson’s Usain Bolt’s apparently superhuman (but in fact drug-assisted) 100-metre dash.
