Well done !
SnSFree MemberTry having an A4 notepad within easy reach & write down the things that cause you to loose sleep – Acts as a temp ‘dumping’ ground.
Sleep deprivation is a major no-no when trying to sort out stressful situation – Mind goes all weird & you can’t think properly when it’s not had enough sleep.
SnSFree MemberBeen trying to pin it down to just one, it’s impossible.
Pink floyd Wish you were here.
Led Zepp 4
Sisters of mercy First and last and alwaysAll bring back fantastic nostalgic teenage memories ……even though the Sisters album came out when I’d reached 20 years old
….ask me in 5 mins & the list will have changed 🙂
SnSFree Memberwould have been funnier if the lorry driver had just speeded up & ended up with a ‘free’ camera.
Wouldn’t trust doing it myself – all to easy for things to go horribly wrong.
SnSFree MemberUp on Blackstonedge, Fog so thick you could see less than 20 feet, suddenly came across lots of guys dressed head to toe in white robes ! Spooked me good style !
Was told later that it was an African religious group. Still – Not what you expect whilst riding about in the middle of the moors.
SnSFree MemberShimano M520’s
SDG Bel Air SaddleNever even think about them > therefore they must never give me any trouble > therefore I like them !
SnSFree MemberThanks for the info Sui. – May try it myself.
My Renault Diesel usually gets fed either Morrisons or Esso.
Runs lovely and smooth, with decent acceleration & MPG on Morisons, but it does have an odd smell to it when it comes out of the exhaust pipe.
Barring the smell, it’s almost identical in performance as Shell / Esso.Running on Tesco diesel, it feels a tad sluggish & MPG drops slightly, Asda diesel ( last time I tried it), car just didn’t feel happy.
ChrisSnSFree MemberWhen on earlies, I get 6 to 7 hours. But, i find having an afternoon snooze for anything up to an hour ( no more than that), works brilliantly & allows me to keep more in line with normal family life.
Being a lifelong insomniac, I have to be really careful with the amount of sleep I get as I find insomnia a very difficult thing to deal with.
SnSFree MemberAnother vote for the diminutive John Lewis Spectrum – Got one on bathroom duties on a corner shelf. – Does the job nicely.
Needed a radio in there but didn’t want anything expensive to get wrecked.* If used on batteries ( eg. bathroom), dab radio’s can be battery hungry, so you may end up looking into a couple of sets of rechargeable)
SnSFree MemberUsed them over many years, I’m still a big fan of the humble 520. ( it’s my ‘why pay more’ item).
SnSFree MemberIt’s been over a year, but I must admit, the only pub in Fort William I actually like is a couple of miles outside the place …
Good atmosphere, friendly, with long benches for the dining area which ensures you have little choice but to converse with whoever your are sat next to 🙂
SnSFree MemberI tried that – it all went horribly wrong 🙁
( Broken rib content)Does look very good though and if I’m truthful – I’m a tad jealous !
SnSFree MemberI drink frequently ( four or five times a week), but a maximum of 2 pints on each occasion. By two pints, I’m relaxed, can feel the effect & don’t actually want any more.
Had the ‘pleasure’ of go to a birthday party in a cricket club last night, sat there drinking diet coke ice & lemon whist all around various degrees of alcoholic annoyances were making their presence felt as they were obviously the funniest people ever to walk the earth.
Afterwards, we went to our local ( small place sat in the middle of nowhere and actually 6 miles from where we live), where I sat with a pint in my hand chatting to various other people of all ages & it was lovely.
I suspect I fall into the category of a social drinker – Can’t do with being in the company of loads of p**s heads.SnSFree Memberjust binned one with 14.
As above, decided to splash out on a new one.I find it quite therapeutic in summer when sat in the garden. Wintertime, sat in the wind and rain in the middle of nowhere is quite another matter.
SnSFree MemberGot the same email
Mines primarily used for the in laws PC ….which I’ve now just migrated to teamviewer ( actually, so far, it seems better than logmein).….sceptic thought ……..
Teamviewer execs sat thinking …..
Hmmmmm, nice one ! …….let’s get the dispossessed logmein users on our books & we’ll also start charging. Mwahahaha !SnSFree MemberSo, ( as a very rough guide/ rule of thumb)
Which years are best avoided in Merc land ?SnSFree MemberOurs is quite a busy house ( …as they saying goes, always something happening and it’s usually quite loud)
Little but often works best.
Couldn’t do with sitting in a sterile antiseptic soulless show house – Give me a family ‘home’ any day.SnSFree MemberHow wierd…Just got back from the Kashmir (downstairs) & spotted this thread !
Food was its usual excellent self …taste bud heaven 🙂I fully agree with above..I’m sure there are Italian places in Bradford, but Asian is probably the best idea for getting fantastic food. ( and I do mean fantastic).
SnSFree MemberDepends what you want to get out of it.
I fancied having a go, but didn’t have squash bats or know the rules …last time I tried was 30 years ago…and I was pretty rubbish .
But, I didn’t approach it as a competitive sport, I looked at it as a fun way to spend the best part of an hour with the added secondary benefit of getting some intensive exercise in the process.Roll forward 30 years & I’ve just started the same process again with the better half. As the weeks progress, we’re picking up the rules and getting better. I’m still awesomely crap and even now, I’ve no idea of the correct way to play and don’t own my own kit, but it’s a real enjoyable way to get some exercise and have some fun.
Chris
SnSFree MemberAnother happy MW81 user ( providing you can keep the water from coming in the top – same as all other boots)
Was also quite happy with the MW80’s I had in the dim n distant.Toying with the idea of getting some MW91’s once the MW81’s finally wear out. ( but i’m hoping there’s a couple of years left in these latest ones)
SnSFree MemberBeen married 26 years – Only been allowed to be right twice in all that time !
The term ‘nagging’ isn’t allowed, it’s called ‘constructive criticism’ – She’s really good at that !
I’m thinking that I need to start my own series of Last Of The Summer Wine. 🙂
SnSFree MemberBit like a roller coaster – “Later” always seems to go through phases.
I usually record them & then watch with daughter armed with a beer or two.It can be fantastic ! ….but at times I find myself wondering if I’ll bother recording the next episode.
SnSFree MemberMondaine’s seem more resilient than they might appear.
I’ve been wearing mine every day for the last 2.5 years – ( got the day / date version). It has a couple of slight scratches on the glass but it’s nothing that you notice.
The strap didnt last that long – Have just fitted it’s 3rd this very week. I had the battery replaced a couple of weeks back.
But, as an every day watch – they’re really good !They look good as casual wear & also look classy when wearing a suit.
SnSFree MemberI rather like this one …
http://www.braun-clocks.com/watch/BN0024WHBKG…If you shop around, you can get it within budget 🙂
Was about to buy one myself when the battery recently went in my Mondaine – decided to just have a new battery fitted – it was actually a close call despite the price difference between a battery and a new watch.
SnSFree MemberA4 notepads at work Even though I have access to all manor of electronic PC based stuff…..A4 pad works best for me.
Gmail Calendar for personal stuff
At home – Small wall mounted blackboard in kitchen along with a small his/hers type calendar so we can leave reminders ( this gets used a lot more that you realise).
SnSFree MemberMany years ago, my first proper plastering attempt was a ceiling.
youngest daughters bedroom had a leak & once I’d sorted the roof, I had to replace her bedroom ceiling.
…thick lining paper came in rather handy & made my first plastering efforts look perfectly presentable 😉
SnSFree MemberJust been through similar, Tried the Netgear WN3000rp range extender which worked ok to a point.
But, the house is fully wired up with Cat5e cable and I’d got an spare wireless “N” router to play with.
I effectively ended up with a WiFi access point running over the household ethernet cable connecting back to the main router. In a nutshell…
Main router:
Check DHCP range & note a suiteable unused IP address not in the DHCP range. ( ie static address)
Note WiFi SSID & password details.
Note WiFi channel numberSecondary router:
Reset to factory defaults.
Change it’s IP address to the number you noted earlier ( poss may have to also enter gateway & subnet)
Disable DHCP
Change SSID & password details to exact same as main router
Move WiFi channel to as far away from main router WiFi channel as poss ( eg if main router uses channel 1, on the secondary router, use channel 13).( you can use a free app called Inssider on a tablet / WiFi enabled pc to check for WiFi overlap / other interfering devices ).
Not sure if the above would be possible with the BT box, but the Talktalk supplied Huawei HG532 and HG533 work well like this ( actually, they work brilliantly – far far better than a range extender of any kind.

SnSFree MemberIt was open last night on my way back from Hebden.
There are ongoing daytime roadworks, but they’re right at the other ( Mytholmroyd) end ….& you can usually get through by taking a left turn before you get to the bottom ( Stocks lane) & going under the bridge.
ChrisSnSFree MemberMogwai
Bombay Bicycle Club
Artic Monkeys ( their first album was good, don’t like anything else)
The Who ( don’t know why, just don’t like them)
Yoko Ono
Kaiser Chiefs
“Symbol” – Or whatever he’s called nowadaysSnSFree MemberQuite a number have been on my list over the years, but if asked at this moment in time, I’d have to say Muse as despite whatever my musical meanderings are, I keep coming back to them.
SnSFree MemberAn awful lot of very tall people on here !
5’10” 12st10 ( work in progress to get back to before I stopped smoking)
32 waist ( …has been this for the last 30 years)I blame a working class up-bringing in a deprived northern mill town. 😉
…feeling distinctly under tall !
SnSFree MemberJust done a shed base this last month. Carrying from front of the house to the bottom of the back garden proved too much like hard work.
After the third one, I found some old carpet in the garage & attached to the bottom & ‘walked’ the rest.
Didn’t damage the corners of the slabs, driveway, newly laid stone ….& my back was SO much happier. – Still, I was glad to finish.
ChrisSnSFree MemberI had similar at a friends house which had me scratching my head.
Took a netbook round & used some software called “Inssider” ( Great free tool)Turned out that through whatever weird acts of nature prevailed, two of the near neighbours were on the same channel which seemed very strong at the one point in the house where they wanted to use the PC.
They since changed ISP ( …& therefore router) & problem went away
ChrisSnSFree MemberWe’d need a flag of some kind.
Something like a pie munching sheep dressed in tartan.
SnSFree MemberApart from my work email address, I have three:
1. Friends & Family
2. Purchases
3. spareChris
