hmmm to piss on the sram camp – stick with shimano ! I have tried both and am back on shimano – i hated the sram shifters and clunky changes of x7. Def change the chain / cassette / chainrings n cables = sorted.

100 = steel deore rings / cassette / chain n cables – new outer for sure = dead easy!

I would love to do this – theres cracking riding round there – I know ! I wish the organisers the best.

However me n the mrs are no way in the position to spend 220 quid each on 3 days worth of riding when it came be done normally for very little – just not as an event… I suppose its not that expensive vs other events BUT I reckon a lot of these events are way pricey anyways… Its a better value event than say mayhem I reckon and on proper trails too…

I would love to do it but am just too poor !

STR – nice trail – causeway up and down the rock slabs? Yep thats fine with my lithe body = post up! I love the roman road / hagg farm/ shatton moor and even cavedale – now thats hard and prob the only place I would consider a dropy post in the peak- but thats just doable post up albeit prob slower than if it were dropped but i wouldnt want the weight to slow me on the ups- I used to race xc and come from a 'post up / good' background and my pride would take a hit if i dropped the post plus all the other whippets I ride with would rip me for doing so…

I reckon up / downy posts are rather like the riser bar arguement… some will accept some wont.

I actually love a thudbuster on my HT now thats an acquired taste !

I musyt add – it didnt suit my riding and wasnt worth me buying it as it was on loan to me. If it suits you then great – try one and make your own mind up – i did and it didnt help.

    Hello chaps

I personally know olly / tony and ellis and I have ridden delamere for 20 plus years – I know dave dood / marmoset / ti pin man etc and I agree whole heartedly with the anti comments… I am very wary of the FC esp how the whole trail destruction fiasco was handled. The reporting of logs /wires in the past hasnt exactly been dealt with well.

I really think the FC will screw this up and not be in the interest of riders – the forest DOES not need any more riders or armoured trails as that will spoil the place – I cannot believe that non of the existing good stuff will not be carpeted over at all… If the trail is 100 pc brand new and wont touch any of the sweet s/track I will be amazed.

The mud is part of the appeal – IF people want armoured easy trails then ride the firteroads…

The only real people who will benefit will be the bike hire place tracs in my opinion – hence their keeness as it will be good for business I am sure – its trying to be a llandegla and thats not what I want from delamere.

Am I alone in thinking this – i may well be willing to help in the future but I am very very sceptical – I say bang on SteveR and Eccentric Ellis !

    Ok people

Heres the one true solution : go to wiggle and buy their cheap sealed cable set made by transfil- 4 quid or so

You still run interrupted sections but the ferrules seal into an outer straw which more or less makes the system waterproof with wax / minimal greasing – the system can be taken apart for some cleaning and it just simply works for ages – I only ever need to replace the outer on the rear mech once a year or so as that sometimes gets crappy as the seal at that end isnt 100pc

sorted – now go ride yor bike

I never undertood the vitriol aimed at shimano on here in the past – all I use – last 9 years and zero fails…

Have seen a few nasty sram failures whilst in a shop and also my mate snapped his ( side plates parted )and ended up with a bust collar bone

i used to use old style 8 spd sachs no problem….

    hello

I would def avoid the rhyd ddu – not rideable ! The Ranger is kinda rideable depending on your skillset / balls and your bike – Its hard in my opinion…

If you are from brecon then you must be familiar with the gap etc – ranger is harder by far – the top rocky sections of thr gap are great fun arent they!

I personally do the llanberis track – boring to some I knowm but fast and very very fun on a 80mm hardtail!! Ranger is 50 pc rideable for me with that bike. The full sus is better for the ranger… its a serious descent and would suggest pads etc.

You are aware of the 10 – 6 voluntary ban arent you? just checking!!

    have fun

    hello

I wouldnt race if it were me – I got hit with PVFS / CFS after a bad viral flu- I lost 4/5 mths worth of life /energy – I am still slowly regaining my fitness even now – post viral fatigue is absolutely horrid – you lose your energy / get depressed / get sick all the time and you cannot exercise and you keep making yourself worse…

take care of yourself and dont MTFU. Seriously.

Had hope xcs / DT 240s / shimano etc / pro 2 – would have 240s for racing – hope for hacking around – no real probs just to remove the rear drive side bearing it requires its a 50 quid tool….

still great hubs and bearings lasr ages – much better than my hopes and my mates fiddly kings – however kings look well better…

    hello

I hav had 2x sets of stanchions go on my 04 RLC 80mm floats – both left hand side – to be fair they had had starship miles on them with reasonable servicing but ridden in the peak / lakes / local sandy forest 3x weekly… wasnt impressed vs bombers….

Another 2 mates have chewed up their newer model stanchions in a sim manner – I wouldnt buy another fox shock again – my 3rd set is lasting ok but showing signs of wear already on their last service – I put more oil in too…

hmmm my opinion is that its where you ride and lack of oil and less than obsessive servicing that does it. still anti fox personally – prices are stoooopid

    hmmm

funny one isnt it…. I would expect the uphill group to get right of way myself…I always stop for a horse / walker on a DH and other riders unless they signal to come past…

I was in the uphill group and a bit peeved that I was almost run over as I was on the smoothest bit of track therefor easier on the climb – some of the downhill group assumed that they had the right of way and refused to ride the slighty rockier section which is 100 pc ok down but less so up…or rather the front ones did and the slower dh lot stopped for us to carry on and apologised for their mates…

ho hum – wasnt a big deal just we were all a bit bemused..
