You cant have fun on a £69 BSO. Not for long, anyway.

I had some of the most memorable rides of my life over in France on a €99 bike from decathlon, I threw it in a skip on the way home.

    Its not about the bike.

You can have fun on anything from a £69 BSO to a 5k hardtail.

I think we all get too wrapped up in the tech. No one needs the latest full sus bike, dropper posts, 31.2 inch wheels or whatever the next wave of tech is. Without doubt these things make life easier, but do we really want things to be that easy? Wheres the fun in that?

    Rant over.

Use the best HSS bits you can, start with a small pilot hole and then go up in 1/2 mm sizes until the bold head comes off. you should then be able to remove the remains from the shoe very easily as the heat generated will have loosened them up in the thread.

Mini Cooper S, upgraded by Lohen to 210 bhp. Great car but almost entirely useless for carrying bikes, currently considering a roof rack.

Used to have a Renualtsport megane, just about the worst car I ever owned. Boring to drive and in 18 months and 20K miles I spent 6K on Tyres and Servicing.

The French should stick to diesels, they are good at them.

    Cynic-Al.

I ditched her as soon as she started talking about Zumba classes.

Thanks for all the comments. Having spent a couple of hours last night reading threads about iDave, the only conclusion I could reach is that it cant be worse than the low calorie nonsense I am on now so I will give it a go starting March first (will need a couple of days to gather supplies).

Also having asked around about gym based PTs it seems that some of them are above all else are sales people, so there advice is to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Wow, just did the sums, I am under eating by about 550 kcals a day.

I am desk bound during the day, but even taking this into account I am definitely starving myself, not good.

Thanks for the advice, new question, do I fill this gap with more protein or do I start to eat carbs again?

Thanks for the comments guys, some useful info, I will definately look much further into the Calorie requirement formulas.

To be honest the program was worked out by a PT as part of a gym introductory offer, I had begun to suspect it was not ideal for my needs. I knocked the trainer and gym on the head when she suggested I try her Zumba class.

My knowledge of iDave was based on reading threads about idave, not actually sitting down and reading the program, I will now do so as it seems to work for a lot of you, I am not short of willpower so it might work out.

BSG, but watch them all in order.

Not Sci-Fi, but if you can get hold of Breaking Bad on DVD its worth it.

I have the mini pro, for what I want; small size, hard keyboard and good at keeping a signal in marginal areas, its great. However the camera is shat and the battery life is poor, so swings and roundabouts.

On a serious note I would like to see some new material from The Jesus and Mary Chain. But with the original line up (I know they are still going in some form or another)

Just ordered one of these, wanted one for a while, but you need a chunky wrist to carry it off

Am I the only person on earth who thinks Adele is in fact, shite? I just don’t get it with her.

It’s all been crap since the S-Club broke up anyway.

    Largely the same boat.

Was 16st at Xmas, now 15st, portion control, and changing the carbs protein balance has done it for me so far. Hoping to end up close to 12st by the end of the year.

Also think about cross training, I have started to run as well as cycle, mix it up and get your body doing new things, keep it ‘confused’.

Don’t cut your portions too low, that is counter productive, and expect to hit plateau periods where your weight stays the same, you just need to stick with it and the weight loss will start again. Try keeping a diary of your key measurements, some weeks your measurements will reduce but your weight will stay static – Muscle weighs more than fat.

Also don’t weigh yourself daily; I have quickly learned this will drive you mad.

I have a medium one, and weight about 105 KGs currently. I agree with the comments about it being quite flexy around the bottom bracket. However that flex translates into comfort; I also have an alloy bike that is super stiff, but also super uncomfortable.

If you are thinking about putting in the big miles to help lose weight then comfort might not be a bad thing. Maybe have a look at the Ribble own brand carbon frames that are geared toward Audax/sportives – The Gran – Fondo for example.

Planet X also have a new Sportive frame, the RT-57, but its a bit more money.

I have registered just to salute the OP, I like your style.

Unfortunately I can never live up to it, I like all bikes; mountain, road, whatever.
