Start a thread suggesting the Orange Five is less than perfect.

Given the wide open spaces and bikepacking potential in Australia ir might be worth looking at Salsa and Surly.

its truly terrible, but it does have the rather dirty lovely Lydia Rose Bewdley, so I force myself to watch.

Yaris, older one without painted bumpers will save you some heartache.

Orange Five, suckered in by the promise of low maintenance and toughness.

To be fair it was reliable and easy to look after right up to the point it cracked.

Didn’t pedal well, didn’t ride well, just can’t grasp why people bang on about them.

I have often wondered about this, if you were to do the highland 550 and follow fox’s sevice advice you would need to do a lower service twice on the route, not really practical.

I cant help but think that a long lasting fork should be easy to achieve; replace the fragile alloy stantions with thin walled steel that is hard chromed – probably would not weigh much more than alloy if done right, fit some plastic guards around the seal area.

I can’t help thinking that fox et al don’t want their products to be long lasting.

+1 for Osprey. comfortable, tough and long lasting, many size options too.

The cost of modern tyres is frankly ridiculous to me, but what choice do we have? Cheap tyres are terrible, more expensive soft compound tyres wear out quickly. I really resent the cost involved.

I would love to be proved wrong on this.

Late to the party on this but I recently ditched both my 26ers for 29ers. I had demos and borrowed a variety of bikes, both 29 and 650b before I made the decision, I tried both wheel sizes of Trance, a couple of Santa Cruz and Orange fives in every flavour.

Now just to qualify this I will state that I am not a racer of any sort, far too much of a pie enthusiast for that.

I was initially concerned about the talk of 29 bikes being harder to turn and much less agile than the smaller wheel sizes, I have found that this is true in varying degrees, but I have also found that it does not matter in the slightest.

The reason it does not matter is that what you lose in agility you gain in increased grip and stabilty, your riding style has to adapt, but once it does you learn that you can carry more speed in corners, and hold lines that would have had you weaving the bike around on a 26 inch wheel.

Obviously this is subjective, but I have found that I can ride longer without geting tired and that I am recording PBs on strava without really trying for them, probably down to being able to float over rooty and rocky sections rather than weaving around trying for the smoothest line.

You mention BMW, you can probably get a Z3 for that kind of money.

Margarine was originally invented to fatten up turkeys, its not really something I regard as a human food.

Are on one doing that chassis deal for 500? You could go for that and spec the rest how you please.

You are right It proves nothing, this is a personal thing, he walks and talks with the swagger of a truly great driver, which he simply is not. I think that is my major problem with him.

Fandom is rarely about the numbers.

You mention Alonso, he seems to flatter every bit of machinery he is given, bet he gets round the supermarket with a wonky wheeled trolley no problem at all. I am not a big fan, but he stands out to me as as one of the greats.

Not a Hamilton fan? I just don’t get the hype around him, clearly he has talent but it only seems to show when he is in a car that is superior to the rest of the field. He can’t bring home the win or strong finishes in a sub par machine, truely great drivers manage this.

Rosberg has admitted fault, I am yet to hear that Rosberg has admitted it was deliberate. Surely if mistakes are to be punished in this way then half the grid would be under constant sanction from their teams?

Discovered a crack on my five’s swingarm last week, now idea how or when I did it; it had been creaking for a while, I had assumed the Bottom Bracket was on the way out, glad I found it before it failed totally.

Annoying thing was I had sold it already, discovered the crack when stripping it for the new owner, looked like it has been there a while.

Will hang it on the shed wall I suppose, not really cost effective to get fixed, long out of warranty.

Moved on to a Horsethief, it makes me smile.

Have to second stuartie’s suggestion for spiral, engaging plot, brilliant characters, reminds me every time I watch it why I love France so much.

I am Scottish, I actually enjoy a bit of misery.

Last Sunday I went to Waitrose specifically to find things that are priced outrageously, getting angry about this sort of thing cheers me up.

    I am a complex individual.

I have to be honest and say that I thought the camper was a total POS, I would rather sleep in a wheelie bin.

It was very obvious who was wearing the penis in that couple.

The tree house they viewed was beautiful however, I could live in that full time.

No further need for any other mountain bike clubs; MBSwindon, who built the croft trail** (Britain’s finest urban singletrack.)has it all covered.

Love a go on a really high spec ironman bike, cervelo P5, Specialized Shiv, something of that nature. Trouble is I suspect it would take me down a dark path; I have secret ironman fantasies. I oftern lurk on triathlon websites reading threads about going long.
