    Hi,

After three years on Omeprazole, I weaned myself off, diet adjustments a bit of weight loss, and learning to cope with work stress better seemed to do the trick.

I keep some on hand just in case the heartburn and reflux return, but all seems to be well currently – Been off them completely for 6 months now.

I had a G3 Powermac, I wanted to upgrade to a new G4 but er’ indoors was dead set against it as it was a lot of money at the time. I bought one anyway leaving the old G3 on my desk for show and putting the new one in the cupboard next to my desk, hence I had a sneaky G4.

    The name stuck ever since.

I used to cook all the time, but the tidal wave of pretentious TV chefs and overpriced ‘Artisan’ ingredients have put me off the whole process.

Tonight I will be having Mini Kievs for dinner.

Is there something a bit less intrusive than a HRM that you can use all the time to measure, even roughly, calories burned?

Something from the Garmin Vivo range would do the trick.

    Rule 9 applies.

KS are you using an activity tracker/HRM?

I found these a revolution in helping to control weight – particularly as the Garmin ones integrate directly into MFP.

Exercise calorie burn figures based on GPS and heart rate data opened my eyes to what is actually being used, again it is not 100% accurate but the data is a true reflection of effort rather than a finger in the air.

A few people will tell you that these are just a toy, but by applying the data produced I could accurately predict what the scales would read on Saturday mornings.

You are doing great though, While the ‘Eat less move more’ calorie restriction model should work, it seems that the body will throw in some feedback loops that will cause the weight loss to stall.

Stick with it, a bad week can be disheartening, but it can also be motivating, remember you are still way ahead of your target.

    Decathlon, about £3.

Depends on its intended use really, if its for Running use only the Forerunner 15 does a great deal for the money – it also has an integrated GPS.

For multisports a second hand 910XT can be found for 60-75 quid.

If you want one to do all of this and be wearable day to day, a Vivoactive is pretty trick, this is my current choice.

Yes, I am Garmin Fanboy, but if ANT+ is a requirement then I suspect the fairly soon Garmin will be the only choice; Garmi own the ANT+ standard and charge other manufacturers for it’s use.

Circumstances forced me into it; Er’indoors is lactose intolerant so in order to show a bit of solidarity we stopped having any dairy in the house.

I then watched a few documentaries and stopped eating meat also.

I don’t call myself a vegetarian because once in a while I will cheat, usually in a restaurant or when I get sick of mushroom curry.

But the weight has also fallen off, which I attribute to the lack of calorie dense foods.

    See it as a blessing.

I often add a scoop of pea protein to soups if I feel the need, but most of the time I don’t worry about it.

    Quorn is the devil’s food.

Find alternate sources of protein if that’s what you feel you’re lacking.

Try some vegan cheese, then you will truly know the devil.

Possibly, they’re really easy to service though. Undo the main plastic section from the pedal body, use some small spanners to adjust the cones, put new grease in the end of the body and the old grease is forced out as you do them up. 10 min job, max. Mine last long enough that I bin them when the body has been worn away by my shoes – years per pair. One of the best bargains in cycling imo.

Do you need a special tool to get them apart? Or am I confused?

That’s about right, but you can do it for less.

plus a cheap radio, batteries and a charger would have you in the air for about 160 then add your own camera.

Although if you are not interested in mounting a camera then look at 250 class racing drones, you could probably put one together a little cheaper. (Smaller, so less expensive batteries and motors required.)

One more thing, if you go for it remember that these things are dangerous. Anything that you self build will be significantly more powerful than a ready to fly machine, imagine bolting four hand blenders with carbon fibre blades to a frame and then throwing at someone. So stay away from people and pets with it, especially in the early days when you are learning to fly.

    Start here, I did.

Spend a bit more on a GPS flight controller, this will give you more stability and a return to home feature.

Make sure you get spares – landing legs, props, possibly arms, you will break things.

Look up the syma x8g if you want footage on the cheap, otherwise build your own from hobbyking parts, you could come close to dji phantom functionality for £200.

Being a film and photography fan over a music fan this means a lot more to me than Bowie’s passing.

I would like to throw his turn in ‘Dogma’ in as something to be remembered.

SD card slot – I paid another £6 for a 32GB card which fixes that issue.

Hmm, the one I had definitely did not have an SD slot, I wonder if I had been flogged a previous generation one? I could have lived with the other issues.

No matter, replaced with a Lenovo Tablet, admittedly for more money.

Bought one just before xmas, returned it at the weekend as not fit for purpose, had to argue with shop but eventually they caved.

Terrible battery life, tiny amount of memory and annoying ads for amazon services.

Its true they are cheap, but you get what you pay for.

May be OK for the kids providing they don’t play games that need a lot of storage.

I am a recent Vegan convert, I grew up on, and my Family still operate a farm, I have no problem with ethical farming and the eating of meat.

My reasons were entirely selfish, nothing to do with animal welfare.

15 stone + and broke my Five without riding it that hard, totally overrated too.
