One of the first times my husband (then just pre-BF) came to my parents he was on his old MTB…he hopped up and down a few low tree stumps on the green area near the house and I was like ‘ohhh’…then I went abroad with the parents and saw a cycling top…I bought it to try and impress him.

Now we do trail centres together and MTB weekends away together – much more of a progression from just cycling to work as a teenager when we met.

Quite sad considering I was 17 when I thought ‘I’ll buy a cycling top to impress a man’. 12 years on I’ve only just told him this which highly amused him.

2007 Stumpjumper….not as old you lot but its the first bike I managed to actually ride trail centres around. Me and her have just clicked and its a running joke around my friends now!

My hubby has one on his Enduro and loves it. I end up kicking it a lot when I climb on his bike as its too big for me (the bike) and it’s fine and just jumps back into position

I am female/5ft7 and ride a 2007 Specialized stumpjumper, size Medium. She’s (bike is female hehe) technically a man frame but suits me lovely. Light too…although overkill for what she may ride. Have you see the £200 women’s bike on the classifieds.

Interestingly we were recently at Tweedlove and the Orange Rep there said the only difference between their womens and mens’s frames was colour!

No carbon bikes in our house….:-D Bike ages date from 2007-2011/12.
    .
I’ll have a better nosey I think, was only curious after my friend was ensuring he checked out any bikes he was considering.

Nejee20 – I fully fully agree with you (convincing my mate was no good and he eventually bought a bike where the guy had the 2007 receipt!!).

I was just curious if Specialized only did stickers This post was purely getting me thinking if Specialized are all stickers then it makes it a big joke. It’s never been something we have checked on bikes we have bought if the seller/advert looks genuine we are happy

I can’t find it stamped anywhere and we have 4 Specialized bikes…3 stickered, one not. Would be good if someone knew where Specialized where meant to be metal stamped…just outta interest…cos stickers only seems odd

I live to the west of Durham City. I love the area. I tend to only drive through Barnie so cannot comment. Hamsterley good for riding…more so if you get to know it and can cut between bits.

Oh could be tempted….I fancied somewhere other than Hamsterley cos that’s my weekened regular but company always good. Can you e-mail (in profile) a contact for someone thats going? Just cos i know it will be packed and I panic at finding groups

White – wouldn’t mind a guided tour myself another weekend. Loads of people rave about Beamish and I’ve walked around there a lot with a friends dog but don’t know good MTB trails.

My husbands did that on (of all places) the blue from buzzards nest to cafe at Glentress. Wheel and rear mech were on.

An hour at Alpine bikes and we were back on the move…they were amazing thank goodness….his spokes weren’t damaged but Alpine said it was the most managled mech they had ever seen

I’d vote Hamsterley over Chopwell in terms of distance, but if you are happy to travel then deffo Glentress!

Would offer to show you Hamsterley but our weekends taken up with weddings!

I expect expensive…I don’t know where you live or anything, but I’m throwing this idea in (I suspect its too old and screen not as good etc but I’m sure you would rather I said).

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/ot-old-mac-laptop-durham

I know you can do it with windows laptops, maybe if you find a suitable ‘spares and repairs’ MAC or mine (I’d look up online specs if it suitable, maybe you can get a technie to replace screen on yours.

We know the one above is worth sub £50 as a whole item, maybe even less

We have never had any bother at all. Our home insurance/contents is about £250 a year with Aviva. We have shed cover (we have kayaks and cheap bikes in there) and we have additional bike cover on the policy as well as away from the home.

They are fine, we even had a bike stolen from our car a few year ago and they paid up fine. Husbands Bikes are £2k’s worth too each. We did find when shopping around for quotes that shed cover was often too low for the kayaks, hence Aviva had a big enough standard cover. Bikes are kept in house, but the cover we have means they would be covered anywhere in UK.

Our policy is New for Old

Not a lot of use with this answer, I can see the tin at home in my head but cannot remember name

Little red tin with some buffing/rough cloth inside…my husband uses it to get the scratches out of watches and his cycling glasses and it works well…just forgotten name

Maybe this will trigger someones memory – or I’ll try and remember to check at home!

I believe I am entitled to mush, considering after nearly 10 years together we married on Sunday.

We had a candle lit during the service that read.

“Today I married my best friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love”

It was a little soppy, but my ‘husband’ (wow!) even said it was lovely too!

From personal experience…I used to work for Tees Valley Wildlife Trust and thus worked closely with the rangers at Redcar Council. A few years ago they pretty much abolished the countryside and rights of way team…meaning a lot of rights of way etc don’t get maintained, they haven’t the man power…and I know them they are fabulous passionate people.

I suspect you will find your answer is council cut backs…despite the legal requirements to maintain them..other requirements took precedent.

It does sound like you have had a knightmare with renting. However I am trying to play devils advocate on this

    a) Why did someone ask her age? I own my own home now (bought at 22/23) but before that I rented and despite being at uni then working low wages we were both good tenants and always paid on time

    b) the option and this may work in her favour or yours. She says money went out of account and was returned, therefore if you go down evict option she can show you her bank statement to back up her theory OR prove you right – she may have shot herself in the foot talking about bank transfers, but she also may have a good defence if she’s telling the truth.

Don’t let your past experience cloud a new tenant, explain your concerns and ask for proof via bank statment for failed payments.

    If she’s lying then evict.
