30mm PZero’s on 22 mm internal i run at 50psi on my Basso/carbons front and rear, maybe a touch less on the front.

30mm PZeros on 23mm internal exactly the same on my Hunt/carbons

42mm Pathfinders on the gravel bike are about 30psi.

Minus 8 last night Mike, opted for the gravel bike so I could ride up and go to the pub and sit by the fire after. Frozen ruts are interesting….

Ive got a Caledonia 5 di2 version and its such a versatile bike. I also have a Basso Diamante SV for longsummer and faster rides. The Caledonia is just brilliant. all day geometry but still quick. will take 34 tyres, which I did for Flanders and the cobbles were much softer than previous years. If you can get a deal I think you will be hard pressed to find such an all rounder ..

Ive just had a Revolt (Advanced Pro model) the geometry is spot on, its a very capable bike and ive used it a few times on club roady rides. Few of the lads I ride with have the Planet X mystiques, again great bikes . You prob need to swing your leg over a few

I did Wrynose and Hardknott last summer on a scorcher day got to Eskdale turned around and came back the other way, I think Wrynose was harder… Lad I was with just shot off, couldnt hold on at his pace. Coming down Hardknott was unpleasant with the amount of sweat on my hands arms everywhere, braking was difficult which is prob why i did so well on strava!!! Did the struggle after and found that easier than the previous two.

My first foray into the roadie scene was a carbon Defy with Ultegra, it was a great intro although I quickly realised being a fit mtb ‘r didnt translate into a strong roadie…. several years on having become a proper roadie and 3 times a week mtb’r I now have nearly a perfect n+1.

Cotic Solaris, winter hardtail, its just ace does its stuff well.
Trek Remedy 9.8 -although this is probably surplus and for sale
Orbea Rise M10, not because I need an e-bike, but its great, works as a recovery ride and is bloody ace.
Genesis Datum, full carbon, 105, 38mm tyres gravel fun. Will never sell this one.
Cervelo Caledonia, di2 winter bike, takes full bolt on mudgaurds currently on 32 mm P Zero’s, its plenty fast enough for 23mph club rides and was great in Flanders in the classics earlier this year. Cobble gobbler.
Basso Diamante SV, fast, comfortable, its on 28/30 P Zeros

and my trusty Focus pub/tourer/shopper, with panniers, 34mm schwalbe marathons, will never wear out.

Lots of bikes will do lots of things but its like mtb, a rigid hardtail can do anything but others do it better…

I think when I get to 10 I will be happy

I have a Diamante SV, its by far the best descending climbing all day bike Ive had, and Ive had a few! Geometry is sweet. Ive also ordered a Basso Palta gravel to replace my Datum.

I had an M10 a few weeks ago, absolutely loving it and yes, wish id done it earlier etc….

I also have a new 9.8 Remedy for days when I ride with other groups or just fancy a blast on that. I do a lot of road miles and was just feeling jaded/cba for midweek mtb rides so the Rise is perfect for that and fast becoming my goto bike almost like recovery riding. Had the weekend up at Fort Bill for the racing and stopped off at the Golfie on the way back for a short session, 5 up and downs in under 2 hours, perfect.

Ive got Flanders this weekend, its looking like sleet and 40kph wind, great…. taking the Cervelo Caledonia full winter set up with 32mm G-one speeds, di2, full mudguards and just in case its sunny, Basso Diamante SV with 30mm P Zeros. Both bikes being excellent proven beer bikes for the ride back to Waregem.

Ive just had my first ebike, went for the M10 as the spec was perfect. First impressions, does exactly what I wanted. Ride is exceptional, as smooth as my 9.8 Remedy, but the climbing assist is just fantastic. At 55 years young id decided it was acceptable, I dont really need the help as Im probably fitter and stronger than Ive ever been on a bike, but when you are jaded after a big road ride its perfect to get you out and have some fun!
Quite happy with the components and stuff, colours good and summers coming!

I’ve done it years ago on a double chainset, so prob 8 years or so ago. probably fail it or cba 4 times out of 5 recently but i did it last year on my flare max with 2.8 Magic Mary’s and remember thinking that was easier than it should have been. i might be fitter now though. Seem to recall me and scruff clearing it with a good skittering of snow a few years back and i think we also cleared it the day we went skidding on the wet grass golf greens…

happy with my 4 season Mason Hunts, light strong tubeless, perfect. Piece of cake to service the freehub and pawls as well as its an interference fit, no tools required. Running both GP5000 and Schwalbe pro ones with no issues at all, in fact the 30mm go up with a track pump.

the increase also covers having your car washed though while it is parked. this is a good idea and creates additional jobs plus its cheaper than parking at a railway station.

I did Ghent last year, so well organised and stopped in Kortrijk, we like a beer too….
Left Staffs at 7 am Friday, eurotunnel and at our accommodation for just after 2 pm-we used an airb and b type thing, perfect for 6 of us, room each in the town with parking .

cycled out Fri aft to sign in, stopped at a few bars on way back then out into the square for fillet steaks. 170km sportive saturday, brilliant course, out for fillet steak saturday. Sunday ride out to watch the pros do the Kemmelburg, race back and watch the race on the big screen, few beers etc, when they were 5km out we went to the finishline and watched them finish. Great weekend under 200 quid each in total, could have stopped in cheaper accommodation, but couldnt fault it. Kortrijk has everything for a good beery foody weekend.

My flare max is no heavier than my remedy to be fair-the only thing that really changed it for me was the rear shock, the inline is miles better than the x-fusion, so go for that upgrade from the start, there was nowwhere near enough damping on the x-fusion.

Ive kept my 2.8 Alps minions on all summer, heavier but grip is great, maybe move to 2.8 Mary’s for winter, but I just love the grip from big tyres.

dropping from Flare max to Solaris max is great, they compliment each other perfectlySwiss Alps

Hi, I came from a string of 150mm full sussers to a Flare max and love it. Its 120mm rear, I dont think i have used all of the travel, not noticed anyway. I run 140 pikes up front and it is as much bike as I need for 95% of my riding i reckon. It climbs great, geometry is inspiring yet its still good in tight stuff. I took it to the Swiss Alps earlier, and to be fair, it dealt with my ability just fine. Reckon a good rider would take more advantage from more rear travel, but, coupled with climbing was fine. You really should try to demo one first though as the sizing is not as straightforward as we are all used to. My mates had a new Solaris max small, and it feels like a medium, again, great bike though. I’ve since grabbed a Solaris max as well and love the all round ability of the hardtail. Both are being run as 27.5 plus with 2.8 tyres…tis brilliant.

Bit of an update on mine. the HLR McQueens went back in the end, they packed up on first day in the Alps and Im now on new Pikes.

The O2 shock got swapped out for a new Cane Creek inline and feels much better, the rebound was just to fast on the O2 even at slowest setting. Guys a Cotic did a quick swap for me when I was in the area.

Oh and Ive had a Solaris max delivered today 😉

Heres mine with HLR McQueens. Having ridden on Pikes and Lyriks for as long as I can remember, these were as easy to set up after i de pressured them first, set slightly lower than the advised set up, they are plush, plenty of adjustment and I think they are stiff enough…

2.8 Maxxis and Hope 35 rims as per Cys recommendation. Its going on holiday to the Swiss Alps tomorrow

I currently commute from Staffs into Derby central, takes about 50 mins but im in before traffic gets mad. Anywhere between is pretty good, A50 is a fast road M6 TO M1 and A38 is pretty good generally, again, time specific. Central to loads of riding, Peak, Wales, etc… decent ale as well unlike Scotland
