Top tip, do not try to rip the top off the sachetwith your teeth whilst cycling and grasping said sachet quite firmly and competing in your first triathlon! Half the gel went in my ear, the other half hit the guy I was overtaking straight between the eyes!

Agree with the “push up” tensioner, I found a surly Singulator to be the kiddy. Totally eliminated chain skip, also recomment Surly cogs, they have tall teeth which helps.

Did you know the Surly Sungulator can be made to push up rather than down with a different spring. Just fitted one in place of the On-One Doofer which I occasionaly had chain skip with. The Surly in push up mode gives more chain wrap on the back cog and it more tucked up out of the way.

I have SLX, XT and XTR, the SLX are just as good as the others barring the split pin issue.

Been running tubeless with non UST tyres, they are fine and I haven’t had a puncture in the 2 years I’ve been running them.

They’ve been doing it in those woods for a couple of years now Martin. Everytime I’m out for a trail run, I clear them, then the next day they are back!!! I keep thinking I’ll catch them at it, but ridden the woods many times each week at all times of day and never seen them. I did wonder if they thought they were targeting the kids on motorbikes, but you couldn’t get a motorbike on some of those tracks. We’ve improved our skills immensely because of them :D., but the principle of it still hacks me off!!!

If you fancy a ride some time, drop me a mail

Or scandal if you can stretch a few more ££££, i’ve just built an 18″ rigid singlespeed for myself, weighs a tad over 19lb. again, same geo as the Inbred if you want to try the wife’s 14″ for size.

How about an Inbred Tony, I’ve built my missus one in 14″ flavour, very welcome to try it for size. If its only for very light offroad use, then build it up with carbon rigids to keep it nice and light.

I was 8 weeks away from the race when I spannered myself up at Dalby. Was out for 5 weeks. managed to cram a few runs into the last 3 weeks, and like you say, concentrated on long steady runs having abandoned all hope of a decent time. Longest training run before the race was 16 miles. Accepted that I’d be lucky to hit 4:30 with a fair bit of walking. Actually managed 4:07 and ran the whole way. Beware though, I know your’s was an infection, not an injury, but I did the race dosed on painkillers and consequently, I’m still suffering over a year later!

Just got a call back from CRC, mentioned the issues with cards as I was speaking to them this morning about an order that has yet to be dispatched after a week.

To my suprise ! they said it was not their fault and that I should update the antivirus on my PC as it seems to be just me that had this issue.

Thats tosh. I mailed them last night (no reply) and have placed all my orders via a MAC, which whilst aren’t virus immune, its very unlikely that it would be infected at the same time with an equivalent virus as a PC.

Try letting them down to a few PSI, just enough so you aren’t riding on the rims. Then ride around for 10 mins, re-inflate and see how it goes. I had similar issues on my DT 5.1 with the DT rimstrips. They aren’t a patch on Stans IMO, they are quite a hard platic rather than rubber with some bad join/moulding marks, I was suprised they worked at all.

A very different build, but I’m also loving mine. 24lb or thereabouts. 5 bikes in the garage, and this gets 90% of the riding.

Just finished last week, now lost the gold chain due to excessive ribbing on here!!

Didn’t try particularly hard and its certainly not had £££ thrown at it. Most bits were over 50% discounted from On-One or Merlin. I had a few bits in the parts bin, but I reckon under £500 outlay.

Thanks waswas, just changed it to a 18T for its maiden voyage tonite, rather spin out on the downs than push on the ups, isuspect 17T is where its at untill I get a bit stronger.

Flash is off, sun is shining. The red bits are vinyl, the jet washer will have them off in a jiffy. Gold chain was in parts bin, will change it when I get round to it. I’m a bit new to this SS lark, I have a 32 tooth chainring and a 16tooth cog, it feels ok after a quick spin round the street on the flat but feels like it would be a bitch on a muddy incline….. or is that the idea?
