Yep, agree about the cable. Its just temp while I await delivery of some Jagwire Cable set and some decent cutters. Bars also need trimming as they are far too wide!

I’m in a similar position so will watch this with interest. My limited investigations was alo leading me to DIY Kitchens. The get a very good review, but I believe you have to design them yourselves with limited advice form the company.

FEIE, I went the e-bay route after the missus got her handbag containing my pukka apple one nicked. The e-bay one didn’t work, now back with an apple one and its been faultless. Not the same e-bay one you list I should add.

Just about to set off with the missus, we have both been allocated to Zone 1 on Stage 1. not sure what today’s thing is all about, but it says its more entertaining than training.

Grabbed some in the same deal last week. Gonna try them on a 29er inbred frame that arrived this week along with a SLX group from Merlin for £299. They are the solo air which I’m told cant be adjusted….. unless anyone knows better?

    Dickie,

Just put a Chunky Monkey on the front of my Karate Monkey (gawd!) replaced the Smorgasboard which is what I also have on the back. No idea how it rides, but took an opportunity to weigh both on my quite accurate digi scales, Chunky was 921g and the smorg 895g. So not a lot in it. Both are set up tubeless at about 22 psi. Will report back after a ride.

Nope, you take the skewer out, let the wheel fall forward, drop the chain off the sprocket then pull the wheel out backwards from the slot dropouts.

Yep, its the Large or 20″ I did worry it may be a bit big for me, 6ft dead and 33″ leg, but it feels perfect to ride if a little short on standover height. Got it From Triton Cycles for £259, I think they have some left in Large/Black. It last years model with the canti mounts, but these unscrew and I’ve got some neat screw in blank plugs for the empty holes.

I’ve not ridden ANY of my other bikes including a 575 and Lynskey Pro 29 if that gives an idea of how much im loving it. Brilliant bike.

The Ogre is the Karate Monkey as was with a few more braze on’s. The Monkey is now disc only having lost the Canti Boss’s which the Ogre still has. Thw KM, still has the threaded Barrel’s on the rear stays for a rack, but if you are wanting racks and guards, then I’d say the Ogre.

Just built myself a Karate Monkey for winter and i’m loving it

Welcome to pop round and have a look Tony if you are near Micky woods, its a 20″ so probably too small for you, but it will give you an idea.

I had similar thoughts, ended up getting one of those self contained car jump starter packs, it has a fag lighter socked and a built in compressor and the added bonus of being able to jump start the car, was cheaper than the mobi pack as well if a little bulkier.

Enjoy it, they are just great fun. The boot isn’t as bad as people make out, the entrance is tight, but there is a suprising amount of room under the rear deck. 5 or 6 carrier bags of shopping is no problem (on an s2 anyway) you just have to make sure your luggage is squishy and not in a hard case. Getting in and out is a nack, I’m 6ft and its no problem. Let us know how you get on?

I had the same problems using an On-One doofer in pull down config. Changed to a Surly Singulator in Push up and all is fine. They come with 2 springs so can be push up or pull down. Hoghly recommended.

didn’t know we were only talking S1’s

    the one above is 220HP

Agree on Looks, I just happen to prefer the Lotus, the VX220 is an excellent car, especially the turbo, but surely if you are comparing with the Turbo, then a fair comparison would be with and S2 as they are the same era?

They are all good, love mine.

Not sure you can get them now, I’d never seen them before, I think they may have been OEM kit on some bike rather than retailed on their own. They are as light as XC forks, but tagged as “All Mountain”.

Gee, got the forks off the classifieds here, had them about a year now and they have been fine, been used in all weathers, no clunking or stanchion wear. I have to admit to being nervous about then and ready to swap to fox or rebas, but they have been fine, ….. so far, look lovely too, watch them fall apart like a cheap watch tomorrow!!!
