Whats the current connector you use? Id be more inclined to just replace the battery connector. Just remember to insulate the rear of the connector so water/damp cant get inside the connector and corrode it.

Best option if it was me would be to buy a DX/Magicshine extension lead and cut it in half. One half for the light (you say its homebrew so you can open it up and replace the existing lead) and the other for the battery. That way no soldered connectors and the connectors click together and gives a more weatherproof fit. All you would need extra is a 2.1mm DC connector to solder onto the charger then. Job done.

Most seem to use either the DC Power sockets like the ones found on Lumicycle lights ie. 2.5mm DC Power plugs/sockets or the smaller 2.1mm type.
One tip, make sure they are both (plug & socket) from the same manufacturer to ensure a snug fit.

There are dearer types available but most go for the above.

    Ir_Bandito,

I have some front ones coming into stock in a few weeks time like the rear ones I currently sell that are similar to what you are looking for.

If you would like a front one FOC I can send you one in return for a quick review afterwards. Please email me if this is any good to you.

We had hedgehogs at it in our garden a couple of years ago, they were noisier than the lass I used to live above when I was a student.

I can vouch for that, unbelievably noisy…. I was reffering to the hedgehogs!

    Hi Keith,
It would be best to see them first to see if theyre repairable or not. If repairable much more than a couple of quid each plus return postage.

Still does them Probably best email him to find out the prices.

Also check to see if Ay-Up use the same spec LED to what Troutie puts in as they seem cheaper but may well still be a year out of date to his

    Hi,
depends where the leads are broke. If its right on the crimped plastic bit where it goes into the plastic box its not really fixeable as there isnt much wire left sticking out to solder onto.

I gave up trying to open the cases as they’re ultrasonically welded and too dangerous with a/ slitting my fingers in half or b/ having a fire as the knife slices through the cells inside! (They are Li-Polymer and just in there jackets snug against the casing)

    Troutie does upgrade the Ay-Ups,

But please feel free to email me if you have any questions

    Hi Jonba,

Do not use either of these chargers on the other battery, one is a 1S charger and the other is a 2S. (3.75V & 7.5V batteries) and they are not compatible with eachother.

If you think you may have a problem with either the batteries or chargers please feel free to email me to discuss the problems you are having. It may even be better for you to post me the suspect battery/charger.

Thanks for the comments 8) guys

On virgin too. Couple of years ago bb packed up and no joy with phone calls to Delhi. Wanted a week for a call out!! Out of desperation tweeted Richard Branson about the shocking service, within half hour had phone calls from VM and call out the following day and sorted the problem out within a few days. With daily phone calls to me with updates.
So I know what I will do if/when it packs up again – I also got 3 months free service on top.

Amsterdam, new tyres are no problem I found. Its when theyve been used and stretched slightly thats when theyre a bugger to re-seal.

8O I thought I was risking it at 50 psi

Coke bottle for me too. use a pop bottle rather than squash as its stronger plastic. I also wrapped it in Gaffa tape just to be sure! It is a bit daunting pumping it up for the first time, 10, 20, 30,40 and then 50 psi

Cheap as chips and does work, I do need to improve it like Nixie is doing though.

What I found was new Tyres its not needed, only when theyve been used and taken off and then put back on.

Got me worried for a bit there Crispy

Thanks Crispy and everyone above 8).

I just like to treat people/customers like I would like to be treated that’s all, may not make me a millionaire but theres no feedback like good feedback.

Plus must thank Troutie for his support over the last year, he’s the main guy really, yes I can give your old light a new battery but he’s the one who can upgrade the light to the latest led’s and keep your light up to date with the competition, plus the new stuff he’s coming out with.

    – Neil, did that count as clearing? I guess in theory I was just about still in control before I went over the bars!

    Pebble,

Email me direct first and then post the light and battery to me. Like they have mentioned above, I may be able to fix it as I do carry a few spare circuit boards and components for the lights, just depends if mine are compatible or not, but I should be able to help you resolve the problem one way or another

That sounds about a reasonable length of time and use for a Li-Po battery. They have a shorter cycle life to a Li-Ion battery.
It also depends on how you have looked after itt, ie state of charge over long periods, number of charge and discharge cycles, temperatures you’ve stored and used it in all add up.

But from the length of time you have had the light and use I would say its time for a new battery.

One problem also maybe (only my thoughts) is perhaps they are using different manufacturers for the batteries, chargers and the lights and as such the connectors may not been be from the same company and tolerances not the same.

I have similar problems when using DC power sockets and plugs. Unless you use the same make they are not always a good fit.

    Just my thoughts

Best buy the screen with the cradle already fitted as they’re pretty easy to snap taking the old screen off. Plus saves you the hassle of trying to locate the new screen onto it.

Easy enough to do, just take your time and be gentle with it. When you buy the kit it will (should)come with the the tool for removing the old screen.
