    Spud,
Either get in touch with DX for a refund/exchange or post it to me and i'll check it over for you to see if its the cells or circuit at fault.

I now sell high quality 18650 protected cells in the 2.4Ah capacity & also 2 cell chargers to go with them.

Beware on DX as they are not all the claimed capacity and are mainly 1.8Ah cells.
    See Here
The Title is for 2500mAh, the cells have 2400mAh written on them and the bit of writing to the right of the picture says the exact capacity is actually 1800mAh :? Go figure that out

    Hi Large,

I can build you a 3 cell battery no problem. It would be out of 2.6Ah cells so could build a 5.2Ah battery if preferred.

If also have single cell 2.4Ah 'protected' Li-Ion cells that I can weld tags onto if you prefer to build your own.

You will also need a 3 cell charger if you havent already got one? again I can help out if needed.

Please feel free to email should you need any more info or help

    Hi CHL,
Bit late posting but bought a pair yesterday and used them for the first time today.

Very impressed, they fill all the tick boxes for a half decent pair of riding glasses that work in both the sun and shade of the forests.

    Hi Yah,
Yes, I only build complete battery packs but I now also stock individual protected cells (2.4Ah) and 2 cell chargers.

Try this guy Here he's in the States but also use the search button on mtbr diy lights

I would suggest emailing Troutie as he has repaired/converted many types of lights.

Hes on holiday at the minute but you could still email him and get his opinion.

As it it you havent really lost out asking him.

    Hi El,

Email me with what you're looking for and I will try to help you out. But to be honest I would prefer to build you a battery rather than supply just the cells.

And thanks Elmo for the mention :-)

    Like trailseeker says.

If youve bought Li-Ion cells you'll also need a specific li-ion charger for them.

Are they the single cells that are protected?

Brilliant fun but watch out for unleaded dogs as some make a B line for you!!

Mine still get plenty of use and it wont be long before you're T stopping again ;-)

    I'd suggest wristpads though.

First night ride was about 7 yrs ago. A couple of converted hairgel tins with 20W halogen bulbs inside.

Well addictive, its amazing how little you stop when nightriding on your own

Its a gem for biking isn't it with loads of hidden stuff if you have the time to find it 8) Did you also do the Hope Bowdler loop?

We allways seem to get grief from at least a couple of walkers when we go.

How about Paddy's own doglight next?

    Neat work again troutie 8)

These led lights must be more efficient and cheaper than 500W+ halogen spotlights on houses? has no one come out with one yet?

If you're also buying the batteries from DX make sure they are the 'protected' ones. also check the information about them as some state a higher capacity to what they actually are. 2.6Ah and are only 1.8 or even 2Ah which is shown under the main information. Don't know how they get away with it.

if you have already ordered the light, don't worry as I still have a few protected cells and chargers.

yes it it will be moulded, but best solution would be to put a whole new lead on then theres only one solder joint and the connector would still be waterproof. But doing this you will have to re-shrink the battery.

    Hi poppa,
if you have any problems post it to me and i'll put a new lead on for you.

Nominal voltage should be about 7.5V but depends on the state of charge you had it in?

The overdischarge voltage will be approx 2.3V per cell +/- 0.1V So say about 4.6V +/- 0.1V as the limit before they switch off.

Marco, depends on how much current is being drawn by both lights when on and the current limit on the protection circuit of the battery, switching the second light on may well trip the protection circuit.

Ideally 2 lights & 2 batteries, should one fail you have a backup and not sudden darkness 8O

    Best kept approx 50% charged.

Although they're not being used they will continue to drain through there protection circuit. This may only be a few milliamps but over time this will drain to below the protection circuit lower limit and may make the cells unrecoverable.

    look in my profile ;-)

Without looking at the battery cant say whats up with it, But most common cause is water has got in under the sleeving and the cells & protection circuit have corroded. Common problem if you google it.

I can supply you with a new one but should you prefer to post me your battery for me to check it over first I can do that for you too.

BUT battery will cost approx same price for a 4.4Ah, uprated capacity more.

How old is it? it may still be covered under its guarantee.

    I'd go wordpress.

Depends, because after it has been built 'you' may want to tweek it or keep it updated and WordPress seems the best for reviews and ease of use
