More than likely centre positive unless its a lumicycle alarm clock! But there really should be a moulded symbol next the jack point on the clock. showing you the polarity of the jack. It is also likely to be a 2.5mm DC power connector.

    Hi,
18650 actually refers to the cells dimensions 18mm width and 65mm high.
Most Lithium, Li-Ion and Li-Po cells are refered to in this way ie CR2032 20mm width and 3.2mm high,

Allways look at the small print especially on DX as they will say one thing ie 2500mAh but in the overview they are only 1800mAh cells ! see here

I now stock 2.4Ah single protected cells and twin chargers to match.

I use the rule of 4. press locked doors down 4 times to make sure they are deffo locked. check zipped pockets on backpack 4 times, and to make double sure do it 4 x 4 times if its an alldayer!

Peachos, just so people dont get confused, my batteries aren’t DX batteries but compatible batteries assembled by me not DX.

Like Nick says you need a specific 12V DC charger for your battery/ batteries.

For the money I would suggest it would be easier just to buy the appropiatte in car charger from Hope / Lumicycle / DX

I did look at supplying these but the MOQ is too high to cover the range and also after feedback the actual interest was very low.

Depends on the battery not the light ie Li-Ion or NiMH and also the Voltage/Capacity of the battery.

How long it takes depends on what the charge rate is of the in-car charger.

What batteries are you using Paul? I would think it best just to buy a ‘off the shelf’ charger for peace of mind.

Yes, lumicycle are centre negative, So just be careful with your case as you ground everything out with the screws etc but the socket should you use one will be positive ground for the lumicycle battery.

    Hope that makes sense?

Ive started ‘how to set up your own business’ After the first week where we all had to stand up for a few minutes and tell everyone who we where and what our business idea was its got easier!
15 of us in the class (Full) and now we kinda know eachother its good fun and very informative and above all you comeout with a really positive feeling at the end of the evening.

Even thinking of doing another course after this one finishes

    Hi Jazid,
I doubt very much the cell will be protected but to get that Ah into the standard sized 18650 can will reduce its cycle life by a fair ammount and also be pretty expensive to buy.

Not long got in from a nightride with Troutie. He had one of these lights strapped to his head to see how it performed. Non of you will be dissapointed with this light, its compact unbelievably bright, fairly easy to build and the buzz factor hitting the trails from a light you have built from scratch. And also extremely adaptable to be run from more than one type and size of battery. Oh it also only just got slightly warm all evening.

Yes Fozzy, The bastid is a 2S2P battery with a single protection circuit.

I think Troutie was trying to point out I also stock single protected cells and chargers and not just complete batteries.

There was a guy a while ago called TurboFerret who was making and selling protected cell holders which would be ideal for this project. But I havent heard or seen him for ages on here?

there’s an extra buzz factor at night, TS wait till you get a pair of eyes glistening back at you through the trees 8O

Its great to see say many taking the plunge and building this light, this is when the fun really starts and hopefully lead to you building more lights of your own. Wait till you hit the trails for the first time with the very light you built :D

Hats off to troutie for spending his valuable time on this as well, I know personally how busy he is at the minute so good on him for also taking on this project 8)

To save time with emails flowing my way at the minute. If anyone is interested I am doing a short run of a 7.5V 2.6Ah Li-Ion battery and 2S charger for £47 inc postage (paypal fee extra).
    Please email for more information.

Good work Troutie and good luck to everyone building one up

    Thats me Convert
I’m just waiting for some information back from my suppler as regards the Li-Po Battery and then I should be able to fill you in on prices with or without a charger.

** Being a 1A Li-Polymer battery you wont be able to use the standard 4S Li-Ion Charger that you may of bought with a Troutlight or any other 15V Li-Ion Battery. The Charger will be a 0.5A as Li-Po cells are best charged at C/2 hence 0.5A **

It changes to wifi when your in wifi zone, Like round the house. If youre in Mcdonalds, costa coffee you search for the free wifi zone to use.

I guess you have set it up for wifi in your house hence it switching to it.
When youre out and about it will change to gprs or dge depending on strength of signal

Hi Phil, I’m the smudge they call about

Trouties lights come with battery & charger if required, and I can supply extra batteries if required.

Nice picture troutie, having the light central on the bars with that bracket finishes the light off nicely.

Youd of thought a magazine like whatmtb would of atleast checked the details before going to print. Theres no excuse for getting the light pictures mixed.
They did the same with Lumicycle last year if I recall correctly.

Also the more leds in a light head the bigger the battery and I wouldnt call a 8 cell Li-Ion heavy, They should weigh a equilivant NiMH.

Thanks for all the mentions :-)

Paul, send me an email with your details of what your looking for and I'm sure I can help you out.

Well done also on building your own light, you get a bit of a buzz factor when you go out nightriding for the first time using lights you've built yourself :-)
