Well, after my thread last week about VM problems, I twittered RB had emails and phones calls same day from a UK guy at VM and had read my long email I had sent to them. This was Christmas Eve and assured me they had read my email and everything was now ok plus gave me 2 months free for the grief I had had. I felt happy as a bunny as I had finally got our broadband back after a week of it being down.

Few hours ago got back from Crimbo away at rellies and its down again!! exactly same fault as before. To say I am pished off is putting it midly, plus Little Miss Smudge cant use her new Ipod Touch.

Yet the TV and telephone has been great. But as I rely on the broadband so heavily I cannot allow for it to be so erratic and down so much these last few weeks so I am now looking at going elsewhere

Taff, I threatened leaving last night and she didnt even put up a fight much to my horror.

Update, re promised by 9am this morning, nope! but by about this evening back online

What they didnt say is it had now defaulted all my wifi settings so took another 1 1/2hrs to realise what the problem was as I couldnt understand why my passwords wouldnt register.

Infact communication has been non existant and for the girl on customer services last night not to even try to keep my with VM really pished me off to the point of tweeting Richard Branson. As a result he has tweeted me back a couple of times and I have sent his staff a email covering he last few days poor service.
    I’ll keep you updated.

Merak, They are shipped approx 30-50% charged for safety issues.

    Yes BigJim
Cut off is ~ 2.5V per cell depending on protection circuit fitted
Full charge is 4.2V per cell
    so 50% charged ~ 3.35V

Best way is to just half charge them, 50% is only a guideline.

Basically dont leave them in a fully discharged or fully charged state for long periods

Best kept in a approx 50% charged state in a cool dry area. I wouldnt suggest a fridge as this is also damp and wet and could corrode the battery.

The protection circuit continually drains the battery (only a few milli amps)and after a length of time it will totally drain the battery to 0V and this will not be recoverable.

They are best kept at 50% for long periods as Li-Ion cells don’t like being stored at 100% charge for long periods as this can reduce the cycle life quite drastically.

BigJohn, if you have a problem with one of my batteries/chargers please let me know so I can sort it out for you asap.

Brooess, I have gone above the chief exec and emailed Richard Branson direct, I know he still has a share in VM. I will keep this post updated on the results if there are any.

Troutie, I’m sure you can put a watermark on your pics in photobucket. Maybe a good idea as he’s not the first to of used your pictures to sell their lights.

Mc, as you have opened up the sleeving to repair it, best keep it in plastic bag to keep the damp out. Any further problems please feel free to email me.

Personally I only use high quality 2.6Ah Samsung Li-Ion cells, not cheap but you pay for what you get.
As for the 3Ah cells, chances are unless youre buying top quality cells they wont be 3Ah and if they are they will be pretty expensive, besides the cycle life will be pretty reduced as something has to give having that extra Ah inside for the same size can.

Brilliant write up Bobblehat. I just hope Dynamos dont catch on though !

BigJim, the connectors vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer even if they are both 2.5mm some will be a loose fit to an others unless they are really from the same company or high quality.

i’d try troutie & luminous direct first. If they have them in stock you could have them in a couple of days rather than wait a couple of weeks 8)

    Webbo,

Fully discharge the battery and then give it a full charge, this should reset the fuel gauge. If the battery has tripped this can wipe out the reference data for the leds. discharging and charging will reset the data again.

If the problem still occurs, it is either a faulty fuel gauge or battery. Also make sure the charger is actually charging the battery.

If the problem persists and you have no joy from DX send me an email and I will see what I can do to it for you.

    Hi Trekster,

If you want to post me the battery I can check it over for you and replace the protection circuit if that’s where the fault lies.

    Email in my profile.

Hi Dropoff. Who did you insure with?
Just had a play on gocompare and pretty much all at same price. Berlingo, Partner, T200 @ £500 +/- £50 full comp. And not much difference between social or Business type.

    Hi Ranger,
He’s working in London this week so I guess he will have restricted tinternet access. He will either see your post on here and reply or email him direct to troutie @ blueyonder dot co dot uk. unless thats the address you have used.
I know he was having trouble over the last few weeks as not all emails where going directly to him but getting lost on his server.

Ive emailed him as well to let him know about you.

bit of a 8O when you see the top lights on at night as theyre fairly dim so you think ah theres miles away I can easily overtake, then the headlights appear from out of the dip in the road and you have to yank your anchors on and cut back in!

    Hi Jiff,
    I use sports bottle[/url]
I found them to excellent with emails and there was lots from me! and they still emailed promptly. service and delivery was top notch and i’ll be ordering again in a month or so.

Ask for for a couple of samples 500ml and 750ml as I got a fair few from various companies till I decided on these. You will notice quite a few actually use the same bottles.
