Please not in the fridge, cool and dry and 30-50% charged will do if left for long periods and then a short charge once a month.

The protection circuit will continue to drain the battery even when not used (only a few milliamps) and this is when the damage can be done over long periods as it will continue to drain -even below the cut off voltage limit. Also Li-Ion batteries do not like being left 100% charged for long periods, hence the 30-50% charge state.

Seems like youve had enough bad luck light wise via DX, so the least I can do to help.

Doubt it very much, I had a nightmare with them and left for Virgin in the end.

Have you tried all of these?

    AOL Broadband Member Services

General enquiries (including technical support and billing): by telephone on 0844 499 5555*

Broadband enquiries: by telephone on 0844 499 5555*

McAfee, Computer Checkup and System Mechanic enquiries: 0808-234-9279 (free from UK landline, calls from mobile may be charged depending on provider).

Also a good tip I learnt is ring the phone number you want to sign up to with ie aol broadband. 9 times out of 10 it will be someone english as they want your custom

When I had continual grief with broadband with Virgin I tweeted Mr Branson himself (thought why not) and within a couple of minutes had Virgin media (English service) on the phone sorting it out for me :-)(still took a week though!) but alteast I was informed every day by a phone call.

Firstly my lights are not built by or supplied to the dx website/company.

New stock is arriving this Thursday UPS clearance permitting and also more stock is being shipped to me this Friday.

So if you can wait a short while (not dx times) you can have one of these lights in a fairly quick time.

For more to date info either check my FB page or website.

    Thanks

    Hi Andy,

You have a mixed batch of cells there by the look of it (different coloured sleeving).

All cells are best being from the same batch for a start. Basically each cell has to be off the same capacity/ voltage (charge state) before assembly, that way the ‘pack’ as a whole will have each cell being charged and discharged at the same rate.

If you have one cell at say 3.9V and the rest at 3.7V the protection circuit will trip when the 3.9V reaches its full charge voltage. but the rest of pack isnt fully charged, and on discharge the lower voltage cells will end of discharge voltage sooner and trip the circuit.

Plus it would be best having the cells welded rather than soldered together,

If you want to email me, please feel free to do so Andy, just fill me in on the details of your new light and battery required.
    Thanks

I would suggest you email Troutie or Luminious and see if they can help you out first. They carry a fair few spares of leds I would imagine or atleast point you in the right direction.

    Hi Ed,

I can do Lupine compatible replacements no problem with compatible connector fitted as standard.
Batteries will either be in 5.2Ah, or 7.8Ah with protection circuit built in as standard.

Please email me if you need to know anymore details.

    happy to help

I’d get a quote from troutie for a start, but I cant really see how DX would pay for the repair as it will work out dearer than a new light from them? Worth a go though all the same. Please let us know how you get on.
