Used them quite a few times and have been excellent each time. I also use sportshoes.com which have also been as equally as good.

being tubing it’s best slid over were it is to be used, You could try adhesive lined heatshrink tubing or risk it slipping, not as cheap as normal heatshrink tubing. Depends if you want it to look 👌 or just doing its job compared to pvc / self amalgamating tape wrapped.

No specific name. More than likely you have a 18650 cell with a specially designed protection circuit fitted which has both the Pos and Neg contacts on the other side of it with two metal circular contacts.

If you are having problems sourcing I can usually build a compatible replacements but require the original battery/protection circuit.

    Hi,

If you would like to send the light to me I can see if I can fix/modify it to see if I can get it working again for you. I have managed to fix quite a few MS lights/batteries and would be a shame if it can no longer be used by you.
I cannot promise anything, but for the initial cost of sending it to me. If so, please ping me an email. Thank you.

Google  ‘Li-Polymer 503030’ and you should see a few on eBay or Amazon. – Double check the sellers feedback first to make sure you are buying a genuine new and unused one. Then just unsolder the original one and replace with the new one. Leaving the original protection circuit still on the battery.

As for the old one, discharge the battery first (if it is not already dead) and safely dispose of it at the local refuse centre as they should have a place for batteries.

Any problems, give me a shout.

    Good question,

Don’t get me wrong I do also like/love mountain biking, but the ease of just keeping a pair of skates in the van and popping them on when I have a spare hour or so when I am out is probably the key for me.. I would not even look at  turning a crank over if only out for an hour tbh.

Time has been limited biking wise this year as my parter broke her hip (not from blading!) so I have been pretty much full time carer for most if it, now she has started rehab and starting small walks I can rollerblade at the same time :) just making sure I don’t knock her over off course!

It’s also a great community to part off,  I don’t think I’ve ever seen a miserable skater ;)

They also do marshalled Friday Night Skates in London which I would love to one day be a part off https://youtu.be/1OEAMeY8t2A?si=qVfI4nf2zaLS8JZx

Go for it, I am in my 50’s and now skate more than I bike, absolutely love it. The main problem is finding smooth places to skate outside which is a bit limited.

Always be padded up and wear a helmet too.  Knees bent and stay low.
Some great YouTube videos to gander through as well for learning with

Skatefresh Asha probably one of the best https://www.youtube.com/@SkatefreshVideos

We were in Menorca this time last year, we used Ambercars who were brilliant, met us at the airport with the car (Auto Yaris) and left it in the same place when we left. We also added a person whilst we were there and just required their passport photo with no extra charge. Would use again no problem.

Used RyanAir a few times over the last year or so and no problems with slightly oversize hand luggage. I also always check in before hand online.
There is a virtual baggage thingy you can use on the RyanAir app to check against but not much cop tbh.

I used to worry about it but Ryan do seem a little more flexible than say Flybe who were down to the mm

Blimey I remember yonks ago when loads on here were buying the empty Lumicycle HID cases and building their own LED lights. I think Lumicycle clocked on after a short while and they became unavailable to buy!
I used to build the batteries (in my previous company) for solid lights. – If you email Martin he may be able to help you with the upgrade on the led’s

Not sure of your budget, but also check out around East Morton (Busfeild Arms, Cracking pub) and Micklethwaite which is between Keighley and Bingley. Local train station at Cross hills. Some good biking from the doorstep too. I know as my inlaws live there. Actually this was how I become good friends with the late Troutie who lived in Silsden.

I was dubious when I was also looking, but took a punt on a blue pair which were discounted on Wiggle and they are brilliant for what I use them for,  out walking and rollerblading so I can still be aware of the surroundings. I now actually use them tonnes more than I would normally wear normal headphones when outside. They also came with earbuds to put in your ears to give a better sound, but that kinda defeated the object of having them.

@colournoise, I mainly skate around parks were they are fairly smooth, unless the fire roads are fairly smooth I do not think you will like skating on them. I did try Cannock Chase once on their paths and was much too bumpy and pretty much stop/start skating and very unenjoyable.
I normally skate with 4 x 84mm-90mm wheels, but for distance and less smooth surfaced I use 3 x 110mm which do smooth out the paths a bit if asphalted and on quite roads.

The closest I would say to ‘off road’ skates would be the powerslide 3 x 150, pretty expensive tbh and bear in mind you will be gathering a fair bit of speed going downhill with such large wheels and also pretty painful skating up any inclines. and used with nordic skies for a good workout.

As others have said check on social media for roller discos as skating has had quite a resurgence since Covid, some even offer lessons as well. Some local parks also have a few weekend catchups. I am more of an early bird before the parks get to busy, just be careful of dogs not on leads!
Also, everyone seems to smile when you’re on skates,
    “Too old to skate young”

oh, in the bad weather you could also try the local indoor carparks to practise in when they are quiet.

I used to Inline skate many years ago then last year I decided to do a 100 miles skate in May for Cancer Research Challenge. I have been skating most weeks ever since, some months actually skating more than biking as I love it again so much.

There is a lack of decent shops about, I mainly use SlickWillies (https://www.slickwillies.co.uk/) or Locoskates (https://www.locoskates.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIha_h05Ch_AIVAu7tCh3KnwyCEAAYASAAEgK18_D_BwE) But cant emphasize the point of getting correctly fitting skates for comfort and also for control. I actually downsized and the difference in skating was light night and day.

Padding wise I use the ENNUI CITY WRIST GUARDS, quite expensive but mega comfortable. also wearing my TLD helmet all the time.

You tube has loads of information about, skatefresh asha is well worth watching, as is Bill Stoppard.
    https://www.youtube.com/@SkatefreshVideos

Also wished I lived closer to London as the skate scene is the place to be for learning and also organised street night skate.

Thank you for the mentions peeps, as always much appreciated. :)

If you haven’t already emailed me, please do and I will see what I can do for you. I removed the link as I was having trouble sourcing the leads & charger adapters required for these compatible batteries and could not always guarantee a custom build.

Thanks again peeps & happy biking

Sounds like a problem with the surface mount switch. Remove the rubber cover from the top and try pressing the switch through the hole. It may be misaligned after you’ve slid the housing back on.

Jamj1974 – I used to use the New Oscott one a fair bit and found staff were excellent too . The shop has actually moved to the top floor of House of Fraser in Sutton. Top floor! Imagine taking your bike through all the designer clothing and up the escalators – My mate did that lol
The main mechanic left to work at the new Electric bike shop at the top end of Sutton.

Some cracking MTB biking around Ashbourne, venture up towards Darley dale too for some gems too.

From recent local canal rides around Brum, they are excellent but best done early mornings as there seems to have been a resurgence in walkers on them now. I am usually up and out for 6.30ish and by 9am they can become a pain with walkers and also joggers with headphones who cant hear you when you come up from behind (two bells). Once out in the rural countryside they can be a bit quieter but you will find the towpaths less maintained.
A great app I used is the OpenCanalMap
I would suggest trying it for a few day rides and see how you get on as that will give you a good idea of what’s likely ahead.

The company who you have bought the frame from should have given DPD your email address & also mobile phone number when they filled out the online collection.
You should now get another email/text on the day of the delivery with an hourly time slot that can be changed if not suitable.
You can also check the tracking number with the safe link you have. But like Mac said, I have had collections booked and the driver has been unable to collect till the following day.

Without seeing and testing it sounds like you have unbalanced cells within the battery, as soon as one cell (or pair paralleled) reach 4.2V the protection circuit will trip as this is the over charge cut-off voltage. This will also work on discharge as the lower voltage cells will reach the end of discharge voltage first – Hence unbalanced cells.
All cells should have the same nominal voltage so they all charge and discharge at the same rate.

They should be 2 in series (7.5V) and 3 in parallel (*.*Ah). After a full charge the output voltage on the battery should read 8.4V. How are you measuring the voltage? Off load or on load as it will differ.
You said you have bought replacements? Do you mean cells to make you’re own or a complete built battery.
The guys above have covered most options but I can certainly look further into the light and batteries should you wish too.
