Went cold turkey last September, first 3 weeks were tough but not had a craving since. I’ve been tempted a few times when having a drink but nothing a quick word with myself didn’t sort. Biggest help to me was having the right kind of people around.
Good luck with it, my fitness and recovery improved massively despite eating like a horse.

You may have the common motion control o-ring failure. Not a big job to put right, just need to replace 2 o-rings on the damping rod. Loco on here does the kits, he’ll probably be along shortly if not Google Loco Tuning

You need the washer set up to fit straight to forks for a 160 disc on post mount without adaptor.

You don’t have to wipe it, you just need to change the BIOS settings to allow it to boot from USB.

Mint is based on Ubuntu so should have same driver support, plus you can use both Mint and Ubuntu forums for help setting it up.

I've used the XFCE version of Mint for a while as a sole operating system at home and have always found a solution to hardware issues with a little research.

Puppy Linux on my laptop because it's so damn fast but I don't know how good the 3g support is on that one.

sfb in humble shocker "but my own riding skills are so scant I'd not presume to give instruction" ;-, your riding skills are better than that, it's the teaching skill that you may not have confidence in. Having been on a few of sfb's beginner rides and tried to help newbies I've learnt that everyone is different in the way that they can accept advice. Having been on the receiving end of Pro instructors advice it's apparent that they know how to ride but more importantly how to teach. Simple exercises for even experienced riders can make huge differences to their ability.

If he only weighs 40kg's replace brake cable inners with gear cable inners, I used to do it and I weigh significantly more than 40kg's.

Removes friction on the cable so easier for smaller hands.

EDIT – I still use gear inners on my BB7's and I have never snapped one yet.

+1 Almera, Group 4 insurance on a 1.4. 2 Bikes with wheels off easily. Go for the MK1 though as the boot opening on a MK2 is a bit faffy.
45mpg and no-one wants to nick it.

Almera is group 4 insurance can get a decent 5 year old one for that money.

Try 'Honest John' and 'Parkers' sites for reviews.

Remember to change the damping oil for something more lightweight, I ran 5wt in Tora's and I'm (maybe was) 11st. The stock 7.5wt slowed the fork down too much for me.

Almera's are boringly reliable – I have a MK1 (P -Plate) and it refuses to die. The 1.5 in the newer version is a bit weedy so 1.8 a better idea if mpg not important. The lighter interiors look grubby very quickly.

I can get 3 bikes & 2 people and kit in my MK1 3 door but I wouldn't expect to get that in an 2002 model.

Just been on the DX website and found this in the comments:

    Emitter Brand/Type: Seoul Semiconductors SSC
    Emitter BIN: P7-C-SXO

    sku.29489
    Emitter Brand/Type: Cree
    Emitter BIN: SSC-P7-C-SXO

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Almera 1.4 – group 4 insurance, 2 bikes with front wheels off, incredible reliability and 45 mpg. Check for rust as it's the only thing that kills 'em.

P,R,S,T plates for less than a grand rest on insurance. Insurance on my Almera cheaper than on my previous 1.0l Polo coupe (L plate – 1994) !

Nobody nicks 'em because they are gopping ugly, left mine unlocked in numerous dubious places and nobody even emptied the glovebox.
