Using Mint Debian Edition on my ex-windows laptop. Loving the rolling updates instead of having to install a new distro to keep up to date. XFCE desktop keeps it lightweight too.

Ubuntu phones are coming too (Q3 2013) – phone + dock + display, mouse & Keyboard = Desktop

Full length outer on all my bikes (Cable discs on all) I’ve had good results with Jagwire Ripcord and there’s usually good deals on full sets on EBay.

    I’ve had Tektro Lyra, BB5’s and BB7’s.

I would take the Tektro’s over the BB5’s every time but the BB7’s are much better than either.

Wordfence has been recommended to me as a WordPress security plugin and no hacks to date on the 5 sites we have it on. Doesn’t seem to slow things down too much either.

Also important to keep your WordPress install, theme and plug-ins updated.

Don’t forget your Google+ business listings, they’re starting to appear more often in SERPs now and Google will often put up a Google+ profile for businesses that used to have a Google local listing so you may as well take ownership of it.

I’m 5’7″ and own a medium Pompetamine with midge bars and 85mm stem as recommended by On-One.

I find it a bit too much of a bend over to ride on the drops for any length of time unless coasting.

Don’t know if it’s me not getting on with drop bars in general or my gut getting in the way…..

OP – Is there a specific bridleway you have in mind? If so does it have a junction with a road at either end? If so the highway authority (HA) has a statutory duty to install a sign at these points. The percentage of these signs that are in place used to be a key performance indicator for the HA and so was quite an easy thing to get put in. Once there’s a sign at the end of the path/way then you find it gets used a bit more often keeping the vegetation down and any other problems get reported to the HA more quickly.

If the vegetation is overhanging from adjacent land then it is landowner responsibility who the Highway Authority can serve notice on to remove the offending material. This can take a while as the landowner usually is given 4 weeks to respond initially.

If you’re on windows try installing CCleaner and using it’s uninstall tool to get rid of it. I’ve used it successfully on a number of annoying Search bars on Firefox and IE

I have a spare lance – not Karcher branded but is exact copy. I’ll stick it in my car so I have it at work with me, I work at Broughton Hall just west of Skipton on the A59 BD23 3AE.

Don’t suppose you have any old spd pedals 520/515 or some bar tape available for swapsies do you?

If you have anything else you’d be willing to swap list it you never know……..

Barnoldswick but i work near Skipton and I’d have to check on the series. I’ll try and remember to look in the morning. Mail me if I don’t get back to you by lunchtime, I have an awful memory!

Just remembered that ours uses a external bag for the detergent which you feed a plastic tube into so may not be what you’re after……

I’ve got a Karcher in the shed with a detergent tank and a blown motor, it’s yours if you wanted to come fetch it. Near the Dales though…….

Never come across any v-brake friendly STI, brifters or Ergo brake/gear levers.

Tektro and Dia-Compe do some v-brake friendly brake levers which you could use bar end gear shifters with or you could look at mini-v-brakes instead of the motolites……

I’ve looked into this as I was going to do something similar but have decided to stay on 26″ wheels and use an alternative bar to avoid all of the issues with the brakes and drop-bars.

If you have disc mounts there are road friendly disc brakes out there…….

I have a Pompetamine Alfine and a monstercross of my own bodging and for offloading I find the Pompetamine a bit twitchy and the Alfine is too widely spaced on the long road sections.

If I was starting again I would be on Retrobike looking for an oldish 26″ MTB frame with disc mounts. Older Mtb’s tended to have shorter top tubes and longer stems. Look for bridgeless chainstays too.

Seat post where the clamp is directly in line with the post rather than offset to the rear.
BTW my 26″ MTB frame only takes a 700x42c tyre in the back

If you base it on a MTB frame a short stem will be necessary. In line seat post might help too. MTB chainsets and road front mechs can be made to work but not always easily, think about chainline…….Road sti don’t work with MTB front mechs.

I did it with a Cannondale Bad Boy commuter. It needed a 50mm stem to keep the reach reasonable as the top tube on Mtb’s is much longer than on road cross bikes. An old school retro MTB frame would likely be more suitable but if you want a disc back end you’ll probably find the top tube too long anyway.

I’m not Stoner but i’ve been running a chinese £120 tablet for a few months now and because of the laggy browser I’m seriously considering a Google Nexus Tablet.

I’ve tried no end of ROMS and I think it’s a generic Android problem and possibly something to do with Flash because the OH’s Ipad 2 loads and renders sites much faster than my pad.

I’m running a Novo7 Elf 1GB Ram on Elvish 0.4 if it matters.

Glad you enjoyed the ride. Please send feedback to the BHF so that we can make I better next year, of couse we’ll book the weather again. Saw some bikes that shouldn’t make it to the shops complete the trip and heartwarming to hear read about the reasons why people took it on. That must have been the biggest night ride ever, glad I was a part of it.

Fancy another night ride? Manchester – Blackpool is at the end of September……….

Dyke Road is closed up until 6:00am too for you too:-). Stay safe out there – don’t want any of you phoning me in Event Control. Weather forecast is 16 degrees, clear skies and a strong easterly breeze. Sun should be up around 4.00am and the birds about 10 minutes before that! Enjoy.

    Hi M1kea

Please read this before relying on the trains:
    http://www.southernrailway.com/southern/news/london-to-brighton-night-bike-ride-southern-and-first-capital-connect-cycle-policies/%5B/url%5D

There will be few transport seats available for purchase at the start site but they won’t be setting off until 5.30am so if you’re as fast as you say you would have a bit of wait

I’ve got both – Versa on my Pompetamine and Sora sti on my monstercrosser as linked to in post above. The versa shifter is quite long travel when changing up a gear compared to a normal sti and the thumb button on the Sora Sti is in the wrong place when on the drops – normal sti’s like 105 would be better IMO
