There’s a ’98 Subaru forester with 80k on the clock and 12 months MOT round the corner from. Looks well looked after too! Its for sale at £1k, if I was buying now I wouldn’t think twice.

I use gear cable inners in brake outer to reduce drag between cable and outer. (Doesn’t work with old Deore LX v-brake levers though as the nipple pulls through) and it gives a more positive feel and lighter action at the lever. I’ve yet to die in a humungous fireball in 5+ years of testing this set-up

Also found that Blank BMX levers and the road version of BB7’s give a good powerful set-up too (Converted drop bar to flat bar CX)

Oh and anyone got a spare outboard pad adjuster knocking about?

first port of call should always be your local Rights of Way officer. If there’s any history or future plans to the crossing they are likely to know about it.

http://ridewithgps.com/%5B/url%5D is what you seek :-) Added bonus is that you switch between follow roads and just drawing lines midway through a route to take in off-road sections. It snaps to quite a lot of the bridleways and tracks too as it uses OpenStreetMap data.

Campaign Monitor is fairly easy to use but they ask questions as to how you came by your contacts list so as to avoid spam.

Running the saguaro tubed and can report that mud and wet grass overwhelm it fairly easily – doesn’t clear the treads too well. Roll well though so would be a good trail centre / summer tyre

If you have a seatstay bridge with a hole in it a caliper brake (long-drop may be required) may be a cheaper way. I couldn’t find a mavic adapter for less than £25 when I looked.

If you’re putting drop bars on it think about top tube length.

Duster seconded. Been getting 45mpg from my 4×4 diesel on a mix of short and longer runs. SWMBO is a short-arse and loves the driving position too

Mint but with a lighter desktop, like xfce would get my vote.

There’s a great ride on Ingleborough common starting from Clapham (best to start there so you get to do the tunnels) there’s a couple of bits of cheeky round that way which link with the bridleways to take in all the best bits.

Running 20mm bolt through Minutes and Nixon’s on 2 different bikes. Nixon’s are non travel adjust and nice and plush and I’ve had no problems with. The Minutes (TPC+) have never felt right from a ride point of view – too soft or too hard despite lots of experimenting with pressures.

I recently broke the bolt through retention part on the lowers. The importer very helpfully sold me a set of new lowers (including seals) at trade price. When swapping the lowers over it was apparent that most of the damping oil had emulsified. With fresh oil they perform as well as a set of Pikes I was running whilst waiting for the new lowers (maybe not quite as stiff under braking).

No problem, my missus has a boardman flat-bar hybrid which she loves and has had no problems with. Quick and sturdy with a decent value spec.

I’m selling a flat bar-commuter in the classifieds here.

It needs a pair of mudguards but £20 would sort that out. I could also supply with a standard flat bar and bar-ends if preferred and I have a few different stem lengths and more road biased tyres if preferred.

Size-wise it would be ok up to 5’9 I think.

I run my Pomp 8 with a 32:20 which gets me up everything quite easily but spins out at around 18mph for me – I’m more of a spinner than a stomper. I’m in Barnoldswick if you wanted to try mine, it’s a small frame….

Got a Pompetamine 8 in small (I’m 5’7″ everyday and it fits great. It’s got Mary bars on it at present but I have some straight flat bars you could have too. It’s not the lightest but it is quick and has plenty of clearance with 700×35 tyres on it. Pics here[/url]

You can run Inkscape (Vector) and Gimp (Raster) on osx too but you need to read this first if you’re running OSX Lion or later.

Some success has been had using road long drop callipers if you have a hole drilled in your seatstay bridge….

Speak to the PROW officer and ask them to serve notice. Is there a planning application in progress at the property or any development going on.
