I have a medium trek vrx frame with a vanilla r shock and rear disc mount I’d let go for cheap. I can throw in a Seatpost ,seatclamp and front mech to fit too.

    East lancs based.

    Email in profile if interested.

Running a 120mm Kona frame with 130mm forks – works fine, if anything glad it’s made it a bit less twitchy on the steep stuff

Howdy, there’s some good riding up Longridge Fell if it’s not been too wet. You can either set off from Ribchester or Hurst Green.

There’s a fair bit on Pendle Hill but you’ll need someone to show you round as it’s mainly cheeky as is some of the Longridge Fell stuff.

Obviously you’re not far from Gisburn Forest too.

In the dales the closest rides to you would be the Clapham – Ingleborough Common – Austwick ride and the Settle Loop up to Malham Tarn.

Dialled bikes Prince Albert, just no life in it whatsoever, I’d sold a wonderfully lively Saracen Zen which although cheap had been a fun thing to ride in the same mould.

I was the other way round my Zen got retired in place of the Prince Albert – again short stem and wide bars makes it better. The Zen wasn’t bad but the PA was better.

The one I truly hated was a Pompetamine with the 8speed Alfine and midge bars – just never got on with the ergonomics off-road and the weight on-road made it a joyless piece of scrap.

Had a sliding drop-out inbred too which I shipped on mainly because of the weight and dull ride characteristics.

It’s equally as tight regardless of which side I try to insert it, I guess I should stop being tight and fork out for a new bb anyway – just have wasting stuff

Do I need to use the ‘gentle persuader’ then as when trying to install the axle is tight in the bearings?

I can only echo scrumfled’s remarks – Mavericks borked our NAS connections too – it can be fixed but it’s a total arse. Something to do with new SMB2 and most NAS’s still running SMB1 I think

    Sorry got waylayed (sp?) there.

Download the latest WordPress version files from their site and upload all except the content folder and it’s subdirectories via ftp (after making a backup. )

You should make a note / back-up of your plugins before doing so too.

Google “update WordPress via ftp” for better instructions as I’ve had a glass of wine this evening :-)

Are they DezB? We had a couple from the same spot in the same field last year and suffered no ill-effects…

I’ll pop into the chemist in the morning and check though

Seems Dacia have decided to shift production from India to Romania.

Which to me is tacit admission that quality control on all pre-facelift models built in India was not up to scratch. Dacia’s response to the rust issue has not been the best and I wouldn’t want to deal with them as a company if I had the choice.

Choice between a facelifted Romanian Duster or 1 year old Yeti? Yeti would win for me.

Discobrakes pads have never let me down either

I’ve got a 4 year old 4×4 Duster. It’s been faultless. No rust.
It’s used in the Austrian alps and hasn’t failed to get me anywhere in the Winter or summer.

Is that a LHD? If so yours is built in Romania where they actually have some quality control and don’t ship untreated steel by sea for 2 months like they do for the Indian built RHD version.

Oh and the Duster is an old Clio platform stretched with the AWD system from the x-trail and a very low 1st gear.

Don’t buy a Dacia Duster – I did and it’s rusting already, and I’m not the only one. Dacia have refused to recall and will only agree to repaint. Spend the money on a 2nd hand Yeti instead.

or just change the front mech to an mtb one…

I’ve got a Saracen Zen – same frame as the Mantra and it is excellent on technical stuff with a 140mm Nixon fork – a 120mm fork would probably make it more versatile.

It’s much more fun than the inbred it replaced.

Running mine with standard pins and I’m using walking shoe type shoes rather than flats and they are grippier than anything else I’ve used (Wellgo MG-1, Shimano DX, V8’s etc)

High prices for poor quality are rife in the mobility ‘industry’-to have a manual wheelchair serviced you seem to have to pay car mechanic prices rather than bike mechanic prices.

Been using Lyra’s for a while here too and getting the pad to hit the disc flat is key. Do that and they give good feel and power.

SRAM rear mechs are sensitive regarding the length of the last bit of outer which goes into the mech too.

For the sake of £9 why bother trying to bodge?

I used those levers with road discs and they were a nice shape and had the correct cable pull

Icmeler just up the coast is a short ride in a dolmus and much less crowded.

The restaurants above the marina are more expensive and I got hassled less.

I’ve had two 1.4 Almeras and they always started first time despite a total lack of care and servicing.

The 1.4 isn’t horribly dog slow but neither will it excite.

I’d be looking for rusting in the sills and rear arches before buying nowadays.

If the heater fan only works on highest setting don’t panic – it’s a cheap and easy fix.

Exhaust, brakes and tyres were the only things that ever cost me on mine.

Don’t be tempted by the 1.5 MK 2 version – engine was more gutless than the old 1.4.

The camera app got an upgrade when kit kat went to 4.4.3 (I think, may have been 4.4.2) low light pics aren’t amazing but are as good as my iPhone 4 ever were.

Both my Duffs skate shoes and Merrill hiking boots stick like the proverbial excrement to a blanket to my f20’s on standard pins, much grippier than my v12’s ever were.
