If you’re looking for something with cruiser styling then virago 535’s are available around £1500 and you’ll probably get your money back after 12 months as they are becoming popular on the custom scene.

Another happy Duke390 owner here – one of the easiest bikes to ride, also happen to be much fun. I keep thinking I want something a bit more retro but whenever I test ride something else I’m disappointed that it’s so far away from the Duke in terms of fun.

Low miles examples are availale for less than £3k now and with a facelifted model coming out next year I would be looking to find a 2014 one for £2.5k early 2017 if buying now.

This kind of intrusive ad on mobile will see websites demoted in search listings by Google – Jan 10th I think – so hopefully this will soon disappear

If it ain’t cold and windy there’s lot’s of skiing at obergurgl but if it is you’ll want to keep lower down.

We went at the end of the season last year and low down it was slushy in the PM and up high visibility was poor. We’re going three weeks earlier this year to avoid the slushy stuff

Would the snow in Leeds stop someone driving to Skipton this AM?

The NT are indeed asking for funds to repair lakes flooding https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/the-lakes-appeal

So why on earth are they wasting money on this?

    smokey_jo

I don’t think anyone bemoans making paths more accessible for the less able but in this instance you have to ask whether this was the best bridleway to do it on?

Mtb’s will now probably use the adjacent footpath instead unless the NT think they have to restrict access to bikes and put some form of other access control in place.

The money spent here could have paid for improved access on paths more likely to get more use by less able bodied.

The biggest barrier to use of the countryside for most of the population is actually getting to the countryside in the first place, the second biggest barrier is information – when I get there where should I go where will I be able to go? what should I expect when I get there?

Putting barrow loads of gravel on a steep path at the end of a steep tarmac road I doubt will benefit a great many people that could not have previously walked the path anyway.

For those that would struggle when the path was in it’s previous state, the vast majority will still struggle to even reach the path as there’s no car park at the start, just a ruddy steep road.

How many NT members on here I wonder?

Will you be renewing your membership if they keep doing things like this?

That part starts at the top of a boggin steep tarmac road, who exactly is this going to benefit? Super fit people with pushchairs maybe and visually impaired? I’m sure there must be more appropriate paths which were better candidate for improvements or as I said above dozens of stiles which could be replaced by gates which would benefit more people

I wonder if every public right of way on National Trust land is unobstructed….

Access controls, ie Stiles and poorly functioning gates are nearly always a bigger obstruction to use than uneven surfaces. Start replacing stiles with easy to use gates, improve the signage then sort the surface

    smokey_jo

I hope all of the gates further up are made to be easily accessible too, a few years back you had to lift a few to make the latches slide

I’m thinking of changing my full sus – small Kona One20 Scandium. Sizes up at about a 16″. It has offset bushings in it and can be sold complete, Frame only or Frame and Fork – got a Manitou Minute 140mm 20mm bolt through air fork with lockout to go with. I thinks it’s got a Fox RP2 shock on it. It’s just a bit short for me.

Network roaming for UK customers in the UK – why the hell not – surely it would save a fortune on infrastructure and get rid of dead spots for most

As much as I hate to recommend them have you thought about a 4wd Dacia Duster. They’re good for towing and the boot is a decent size albeit the back seats don’t fold flat. You might have to haggle and be prepared to go above £5 but so long as you avoid the Indian built ones (which rust) it ticks your boxes.

Doesn’t have a proper diff or low box but 1st gear is comically low, it has the transmission from the Nissan x-Trail which is well regarded and they come with 4 season tyres from new. I get above 45mpg from my diesel 4wd without trying too hard.

Asus zenbooks are worth a look too, my i7 flies and it’s lightweight and nice to use. Only thing that lets it down is the delete key and power button are a bot close together. This has been sorted on the new generation ones though.

Well a small frame is definitely required and maybe 26+ instead of 27.5 could be do-able…

Do the entry level builds have the same motors and batteries as the good stuff?

    smokey_jo
    Full Member

OK the better half has a perfectly good 26er Specialized in the shed which hasn’t seen daylight for a couple of years. All of the components are high end and with little use.

She won’t come out riding with me very often as she feels like she’s holding me back and gets tired quickly. I’m thinking a conversion to an e-bike might be an option.

Are any manufacturers supplying frame, battery and motor kits yet or are only full builds available.

There’s also cub Linux, based on Ubuntu, designed to look like Chromium, it’s still based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and has been very stable and fast for me. Just remember to turn off hardware acceleration in chromium

The final section of red into le Praz isn’t so bad, depends on conditions really, is only difficult if it’s bumpy or icy, and you can always catch the bubble back from 1650. It is a long way over to Val T but getting back from Mont Vallon wasn’t a problem, and I was with a few slower skiers

You can ski into Le Praz from Bouc Blanc in about 10-15 mins depending on how many irish coffees you had at the Bouc Blanc :-)

In Le Praz there’s a couple of good bars and the Peuplier Hotel has a really nice chilled out lounge downstairs although the Apres is more quite a bit more civilised than 1850 or Meribel! Although drinking pints of Gin Slushie in the Sports Bar on a Thursday when they have live bands on can be quite fun too.

Not much choice for eating out but the food at the chalet is so good you wouldn’t want to

Look for a laser cutting / etching servive like cutlasercut.[/url] They can use thermark to etch onto stainless using a CO2 laser.

They may even have a fibre laser that can etch the metal directly.

Looks like the tech has been applied to wheelchairs already. link here It helps with the braking too which over undulating terrain is as big an issue as getting along and up.

I bought a new one, it started rusting within 6 months. It feels very tired after 2 1/2 years, starting to rattle and clunk more. I wouldn’t pay a quarter of list price for a 3 yr old Dacia.

Dealers are reselling rejected cars after they’ve had a quick respray.

Don’t believe the warranty if doesn’t mean anything to Dacia, they’ll worm their way out out it every which way.

If you do buy one, use a credit card for the deposit so when you reject it you have some protection.
