Ok been out for a 30 odd mile hilly ride this morning.
Good bits: Position is spot on for me, nice and upright, great for taking in the views and easy to get in the drops and out of the wind when necessary. You feel like you’re sitting in it rather than on top of it.
The new tiagra is a step up in shifting quality to the previous years stuff. The back end has a nice steel feel and doesn’t feel flexy. The handling is very stable so should be fine with a load on it.
Whoever assembled it did a great job, spot on shifting and braking, no squeaks or rattles.
Bad bits: The saddle that comes as stock didn’t suit me so that’s going to be changed.
The fork felt a bit harsh, it’s possibility a bit overbuilt as it needs to support luggage. A 38 tyre will be going on the front to replace the stock 32 so this should help.
It’s a bit porky, you can feel the weight on the climbs, that 32t on the back got a bit of use today when on my previous bike which itself is no flyweight if be using a 28t or 30t. I think new wheels will be invested in at some point as well as a 650b experiment.
Overall though I really like it :-)
