[list]I’m 5’7″ on a medium stelvio with an 80mm stem and in quite an upright position

Stelvio takes 40mm tyres easily, could get guards in there too. Also can be run 650×47 with lots of room for guards

Thinking of a week in Le Praz with Skivo2 who include instruction. I’ve been with them before but ages ago. I just wondered if anyone had been with them recently ?
    Recommended ?

Not been with Skivo2 before but stayed in le Praz a lot over the last few years might be able to help if you have any specific questions

Off to Tignes in Jan on a package which includes a Tignes lift pass, is it easy enough to top up with a Val d’isere day pass as required or should we just get a week pass for Val d’isere on day 1?

Have a Nexus 5X 3gb RAM 32gb memory that’s just had it’s motherboard replaced under warranty by LG.

I’d let that go for £100 if you decide you can go 2nd hand.

Bought a g5s plus whilst my Nexus 5x was away getting a new board to fix the boot loop issue.

I would love it if it was just a smidge smaller. The 5x is just the right size and weight but isn’t quite as soft as the g5s plus.

I was worried that the standard g5s would be similar performance to the 5x so went large.

Not sure whether to revert back to the 5x and flog the 5s plus. There’s not a huge amount in it in terms of performance but just enough to be noticeable

Following a recommendation on here tried sant-yago – nice enough and good food. Got stuck at the table next to the kitchen as we hadn’t booked and they had a party in so might be worth phoning ahead.

Don’t look at Courchevel then, showing in the village earlier, no of course I wasn’t looking, not even going there this year

I got 42s in a Cannondale bad boy 26 frame. They were slicks and there was only clearance for a fag paper. BB was too high too and top tube to long for drop bars.

I’ve just switched from a Saracen Hack to Holdsworth Stelvio tourer. More relaxed geometry, more upright riding position. Very stable compare to the Hack which felt too low at the front door me.

650b conversion has added more off-road capability. Any slacker and I’d probably head towards a rigid 29er.

Vittoria Voyager Hypers – nice and supple, plenty of grip and I’ve not been beset with punctures

The wheels are off an entry level Giant MTB and are centrelock hubs so not particularly light but still a damn sight lighter than the stock wheels which came on it.

Mine’s probably about 1 lb lighter than the stock spec.

The wheels came with 180 front and 160 rear discs and as I didn’t have a 140 to hand that’s what’s on it for now so you could lose a bit there.

If you’re looking for a featherweight then you will be disappointed – the frame and fork are still pretty beefy as they’re designed for taking loads.

I’m still made up with it though – it’s comfy and stable and the finish is holding up well.

This might be a stupid thought but here goes. All bikes have handlebars so how about a way of making it a sealed tube with a valve at one end which you can attach your hose to?

Finally got round to fitting the 650b wheels on my Stelvio. 47c horizons fit fine, loads of clearance and room for guards too

Steering lock on a 4wd duster is dreadful, along with many other things. If it’s an unsurfaced access track it will just rattle itself to bits. Also load space height is lacking so you will need front wheels out and seatposts out unless you’re happy lying 2 bikes flat on top of each other

Been using one of these for the last 3 months only charged it twice and used daily.
The ones which work off a wireless dongle need charging more frequently.
