Le Praz is a nice little village and not as resort like as the rest of the bits of Courcheval. Have a look at La Tania too – two quick lifts and you can be dropping in to Meribel. If you miss the last lift back it’s a bit of a trek round on the road though.

Don’t know much about the trails only ever skied there.

I’d have one of these in a heartbeat http://www.bikeexif.com/honda-cub-electric-motorcycle

Buy a C90 strip the engine out, rebuild rear wheel with a hub motor and stick batteries under the seat – if ever I find a cub that isn’t stupidly overpriced I can see me doing something like this.

Springs aren’t strong enough, playing with the b-screw to move the top jockey away from the cassette helps for a while but it will require meticulous cleaning to keep it working.

Another fan of Chris Stapleton here, also Hayes Carll for a bit of redneck, Alan Jackson, Jason Isbell and the guilty pleasure of Kacey Musgraves

If you’re driving to Gisburn from Liverpool Rivington is closer – Lots of locals on here to provide routes.

Peak District isn’t too far either – 2 hours to Hayfield

Macc Forest too – although there are closures in place at the minute

Check out where the MNPR lot ride most of that is Greater Manchester area

I’ve had bad enduro one’s before – one side leaked the other stripped the anodising off the stanchion. I’d be trying genuine rockshox ones to be sure.

Stayed here: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/7929089 looks like it’s still available for the weekend too.

If you do book with her tell her that Mags and Martin who did Ride London last year recommended it. There’s local restaurants for a nice meal the evening before too.

I stayed at a lovely air bnb near Victoria park which had free on Street parking at weekends. 2 mile ride to the start. Ride back from the finish would have been another 7 but we did it in the tube which was a mistake.

Didn’t feel much like driving afterwards to be honest but it was my first 100 and we’d been out all day. You spend a lot of time waiting for your start slot so the day is much longer than your average 100.

It could be one-step closer to any bicycle needing it though

Got a nighthawk too and I wouldn’t say it’s been faultless. We have very thick stone walls and signal doesn’t make it to the extremities of the house. Had to set up separate 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ networks too as devices kept trying to constantly switch and dropping signal – not sure if this is some problem with having a SKYQ network and having to have a TP powerlink network to get signal in the shed running too but I’ve tried all sorts of channel configurations and not managed to fix it for good.

We have a draytek router / firewall unit in the shop and that is bang on although it hasn’t got to deal with massively thick walls.

We’ve gone for Les Gets in Jan and Obergurgl again in March – I think the missus has got a crush on the instructor she had this year!

Clarks 30T Narrow wide chainring – can be had for less than £20 in the UK and fits standard 4 arm mtb cranks in place of your middle ring.

Sunrace 11-42T cassette from AliExpress for less than £30

New 9spd chain for less than a tenner of fleabay if the old one is worn.

    £60 tops

Front mech pull ratios are different but rears should be same. If you have shifters frint mechs should be cheap enough as everyone’s gone 1 x .

Clarks M2’s get compared to the Alivios in terms of stopping power and reliability which by all accounts is pretty good and probably plenty enough for skinny CX tyres. Less than £40 set too I think.

Laser etch for me too, but that’s easy to say when you have a laser cutter in your shed

You can fit 650bx47 on the stelvio with room for guards too

The Holdsworth Stelvio is very solidly built and has all the rack mount. Not ridden loaded up yet but it’s super stable and not noodley feeling at all.

    It’s not light though

The 11-40 is perfectly fine, gaps aren’t so bad, shifts fine and 450g weight is genuine. Coupled with a 30t at the front on my 26er I rarely needed anything lower that would have helped much on my last few rides in Lakes and Dales.

You can spin out 30/11 on a downhill fire road but WGAS, my racing days are long over.

30T chainring and 11-40t sunrace cassette (9spd) on mine from a 32 chainring and 11-34 cassette. Didn’t need anything else at all with a standard long cage slx rear mech

Yup still have mine, super stable, weighs a tonne, it’s a tourer not a gravel bike. Paint holding up fine on mine and no issues with it. Did Ride London on it last year – super comfy

Damn it I knew I should have sold those rigid carbon forks I had lying around before I went and bought something like this.

    Ah well N+1 again

I’ve got a Muddy Fox courier comp which looks like that – needs a respray mind. In East Lancs if you’re interested – it’s cluttering up my office so it could go for the price of a decent bottle of red.

I went from a 5 to a 5x and didn’t find the size increase a problem. My 5x got the boot loop but and lg returned it fit me. Had to buy a phone in the meantime as it was away 2 weeks – got a 5s GS plus. It’s taken a while to get used to the size increase of this one though. Good phone otherwise.

2007 Manitou Nixons – Finally stripped them down for the first time on Sunday – They had been working fine up until now but damping performance had started to drop off. All looks fine inside including wiper seals just needed some fresh oil.

Had this problem with my commencal hip hop. The suspension stroke was very linear so would catch when shock was compressing and I was still pedalling.

A volume reducer in the can has made a huge difference giving more support in the mid stroke without losing much, if any small bump sensitivity.

Just converted from 2×9 to 1×9. Sunrace 11-40 cassette and Clarks narrow wide 30t ring on a standard 104bcd chainset. No chain guide and standard long cage slx rear mech, no goatlink etc.

Chain hasn’t dropped and gaps between ratios are fine. Chain ok as the 30t ring is offset towards the frame a little to allow clearance for the chain away from the chainring tabs.

Post ride report. So after 13 miles full of mud and rocks I can say that the cassette and Chainring worked perfectly. Didn’t mind the gaps in the ratios and didn’t really need a lower gear so all good. 🙂

Watch for toe overlap if you’re on a 54 or smaller, mine was dreadful with guards on. For guards with proper stays there’s a fair amount of bending required to clear the front disc calliper but it can be done. Needed p-clips on mine as no mounts, plenty of helitape underneath them

Gaps will be bigger on the 8 speed block. How about 11-36 with a 30t front ring. That Clarks one I bought was for a 104bcd chainset.

You can have ours, very friendly, smaller than a lab, only barks in the morning for a couple of hours, will eat anything, rolls in cat/fox/sheep poo and everyone thinks she’s “so cute”  Can only run for 20 minutes when she realises she’s not as young as she used to be and then goes to sleep.
