11-42 sunrace 9spd on 2 bikes here, standard slx/deore long cage mechs and no goat link needed.

Work well with a 30t front ring which can be got for 104 BCD cranks easy enough.

MTB and road mechs have different pull ratios, you’ll need a road triple mech

That’s really pretty, that would make a great base for an electric conversion.

I would normally recommend a nokia 7.1 but after 10 minutes in my jacket on my motorbike in a bit of a shower it crapped out and needed 24 hours in a bag full of silica gel sachets to get to boot up again.

After this the wi-fi reception range has reduced considerably.

It also wasn’t very good at using NFC if anything using the compass / GPS was active.

I’ve just ordered an refurb xperia A2 off Argos as it’s replacement – only £90!

If the battery is on and the display isn’t it will be a connection into the back of the display, they take a good push to be fully ‘home’.

I think it looks even better in the flesh and it only took a 10 minute ride and I was hooked, easy to cruise on but capable of getting a shift on, never would be considered nimble but it turns in quick enough and it’s so stable and predictable.

Whilst I was waiting for the rain to ease a little when I picked it up had a good look at the Royal Enfield Interceptor too, can’t believe they are only £5.5k – lot of bike for the money and being built in a brand new state of the art factory now, not like the Bullet. Guy at the dealers said they have sold every one they have managed to get hold of and people keep offering them full price for their demonstrator

Aye she’s a bit of a big bird but probably making similar peak power to your 690, probably a bit more torque though 😁 After the frenetic 390 it’s a big change of riding style but one I’m finding more to my taste.

I think this one’s the keeper!

So it turns out that although I fancied an xsr700 it was this that turned my head:

Back to the 3 valleys in Jan and the customary end of season in obergurgl 😎. I’m thinking of taking the plunge and buying skis this year as I think I’ve plateau’d in terms off my poster skiing and I’m going to be a slow learner of piste.

Anybody seen any deals around for skis they might fit the bill or suggestions of where to look?

You have to unlock your phone for Google pay to work and even then if it’s doing something with resource intensive in the background it won’t normally work anyway.

This mainly annoys me on the tube when I usually have Google Maps running and I end up having to fish my debit card out anyway.

Can’t help but agree with the above – god only knows how bad it is for people who have to put up with the ads too – it’s unusable on anything but wi-fi at the minute

Very nice – I loved my Duke 390 I had in India, which cost absolute peanuts brand new as they make them out there. Was gutted that it wasn’t going to be feasible to ship it back and get it legal for the UK with emissions gubbins etc

Might be selling my duke 390 soon as I fancy an xsr700…….

Bought one of these 3 years ago when they were £5 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076SC6ZJS?tag=opr-mkt-opr-uk-21&ascsubtag=1ba00-01000-ubp00-win10-other-nomod-uk000-pcomp-feature-scomp-wm-5&ref=aa_scomp
    It’s never not worked.
It’s basic but it works and weighs nothing

I could put the old headset back in and all would be well steerer length wise but the slackset I’ve put in to tame the handling a touch has changed it from zero stack to external cup which is where the reduction in available steerer has come from.

Currently the top of the steerer is level with the middle of the top pinch bolt of the stem which is borderline for me.

If I could find a stem 70mm long with a 35mm stack height I think it would be fine, current stem is 40mm stack height

Fair point George not thought about the stanchions hitting something in the lowers – the towers need a service anyway so I’ll drop the lowers and take a look at the weekend

Actually that Defy stem might just do it – need to find one that’s at least 60mm long though

Stem is already low stack – I could get maybe 5mm back but still too short really

Get a refurb Nokia 7.1, ace phone, had mine 2 months now and it’s rock solid and quick.

Mine was £100 and just missing charger and box but with 3 month warranty.

Box is good to use but if buying second hand make sure it’s been serviced as per the book. Needs oil and filter change every 30k

Shifting fine, gaps ok, works well with a 30t up front. Only using Shimano mechs on mine but they didn’t need an extender. NW on 9spd all working fine for me.
