My Dad’s got a 1979 400/4 in his garage, original pipes in decent nick too.

Hasn’t been ridden in 10yrs since he restored it, he’ll never ride it again and the prick won’t sell it to me either.

By the time he pegs it it will be a pile of rusty rubbish again.

I gave up trying to get him to part with it and bought a guzzi instead.

Lumen 800 looks great but I need it to have it’s own headband so it will work with and without a helmet if possible

So the Decathlon one and the Bobby Dazzler 600 lumen look very similar but don’t fit on a helmet very well – is that right?

Anyone got pics of them on their helmets?

I’ve used Sweet Home 3d on Windows – very intuitive – easier to use than Sketchup / CAD for room layouts and the like.

@bluebird so at the bottom of the Festkogelbahn then. If you do go for apres at the Nederhutte the run home can mean a bit of walking as there is a flat bit as you go past the Gottard Hotel on Blue 6.

You really need to keep speed up to get through to the Festkogel piste – alternatively ride back in the skidoo. They re-piste the run back from the Nederhutte as soon as the lifts close so there’s less accidents after a few Schnapps!

There’s a testing black(13) and unpisted red(14) from the top of the Festkogelbanh bubble – if you get fresh snow – head there if your looking for powder.

The unpisted red routes off the Hohe Mut are good if there’s fresh snow around too – Route 9 isn’t that great really but it can be a quieter route home – there’s a couple of narrow sections on it but it’s not too steep.

When they have the night-skiing they use the Festkogel bubble so you’re handy for that and for getting across to Hochgurgl.

Run red 12 gets a bit bumpy in the afternoon so if you’ve got heavy legs and you’re in Hochgurgl you can catch the free bus home.

The vorderer wormkurgl drag lifts are evilly steep and very exposed – difficult enough on skis, on a board – good luck!

If it’s windy most people head to the Steinmanbahn sector – there’s a few trees here with lots of routes through between pistes. The restaurant at the bottom is good for lunch too.

Road triple mechs work with MTB triple cranksets but they don’t like smaller than 26t inner rings. Gap bettwen rings is same on road and mtb triple but levers and mech need to match

Been to obergurgl a few times. There’s a couple of fun parks over in Hochgurgl, one high up in Obergurgl at the top of the Festkogelbahn, and another lower down accessed from the Steinmanbahn lift.

I’m mainly a piste skier so can’t help much on what’s good for boarding.

Konigstall is popular when there’s lots of snow for off piste and it’s only a 10 minute walk from a lift, access from the Plattachbahn chair I think. Some bits in the Gaisbergtal too. You’ll probably need a guide for all of them.

New KirchenKhanbahn upper lift apparently gives lots of off piste access too. Lots of stuff off the schirmerbahn lift off to the sides.

Run to the bottom of Hochgurglbahn is a nice long red but if it’s warm it will be slushy at the bottom. Bumpy around the Nederhutte and top of Steinmanbahn from 2pm onwards.

Bus to Solden is free and only takes 20 minutes – not been yet myself – will probably this year though.

Other than the Nederhutte, there’s not much Apres, umbrella bar at the bottom of the Rosskarbahn outside the edelweiss is popular for a post ski beer but it can be a bit smokey.

    Where are you staying?

I bought one of the Orbea Alma 29er raw frames from RCZ when they were 30 euro a year or so back. Needed a slackerizer to make it a bit less twitchy but it’s absolutely spot on, a proper keeper.

Barzo/Mezcal here 2.4 f+r. Mezcal only overwhelmed in total slop where most tyres would be anyway. Mezcal will go back on front for the summer.

Snow looks good in Obergurgl already Jedi, not many boarders out there that I’ve seen when I’ve been but they have put plenty of money into their parks over the last few years.

    You been there before?

The 2.0l turbo in the c300 will get you 30mpg+ easily and if it’s got 100 ponies more than my c180 you won’t feel short changed power wise

It’s ball-ache getting there from the north of England. Manchester flights to Limoges are nearest then car hire is a possibility but will be spendy.

Driving wise Caen won’t be much different and I think crossings are cheaper than St.Malo.

You can drive it in one hit in about 20 hours from East Lancs via the tunnel.

I’m mainly based west of there when we go so can’t help with routes really – from what I’ve seen in the car take low gears and big legs

Before binning off the spd’s lift up your insole and smear silicon sealant around the cleat retention area. that should take care of the heatsink.

Warm core and legs = warm extremities unless blood is struggling to get there.

I can get pins and needles and numb feet in the height of summer if my cleats aren’t set up absolutely perfectly – if my feet are twisted even slightly relative to the shoes they don’t last 20 mins before numbness sets in.

This can happen to me even with shoes that have plenty of room – if the pedalling action when clipped in is twisting my foot against the inside of the shoe I could be wearing 3 sizes too big and still get numb feet.

Vittoria tyres are usually labelled TNT which means Tubeless/Not Tubeless I think. Anyway I run mine tubeless no problem.

Vittoria – Barzo front, Mezcal rear, don’t clog and grip just fine. Run a Mezcal on the front when it’s really dry for faster rolling.

I had a Dacia Duster for a few years. All running gear and switch gear was Renault and worked fine.

Bodywork wasn’t Renault though and was rusting within 12 months – ended up with new doors and tailgate within 3 years before I punted it on.

The seats were dreadfully uncomfortable and had split within 50K miles too.

The depreciation was staggering so buy 3 yrs old and run it into the ground would be my approach if I considered one again.

Depends on your budget but look for local freelance copy writers for the cheaper end of the scale.
