Great advice breatheeasy, was thinking a yellow cab from JFK so I could site see ??, it will be around 1pm ish, I am from up North so undergrounds aren`t my strong point , usually hang on to my London mates shirt tails and let him go at 100mph!! Ellis Island is on my to do list , that sounds disappointing on the helicopter rides. Jesus so much to see and so little time in which to see it!!

Cheers all , Will have to start planning an itinerary as I think winging it may be a waste and I don`t really want to factor a 5 mile walk to get from A to B. Food menus look good for recommended eateries, looking at the tip tax situation I think I might as well double everything to be on the safe side!!

50 yr old here and remember it well, big part of growing up , “the gang” used to sit in the local ww2 pillar box passing them round while one would read out the stories, then came the game changer we found A5 sized import with full pen, and money shots!! Then moved into the shipyard and joined the porn club for 30p a week, you could loan a mag for a week then return it, he used to put it in a book booked out to you, the organiser was doing so well he had regular trips to Amsterdam to source new material, one of the lads had that much in his loft at the digital changeover rather than despise of it he plastered it all into the walls as he converted it into a bedroom , someone will get a ten year collection one day, happy days!!

    Hi,
It is loaded with footpaths and bridleways around there, I would head across the racecourse and pick up the paths to Lakeside going over Great Allotment, Bigland Heights to Low Gate ,I would head down Brow Edge Road looking for a small path on the left towards the bottom that will get you under the main A590 , I would then go to the Motor Museum for a cake , coffee or lunch, if I fancied a pub I would cross the River on a foot bridge then head right to the Swan at Newby Bridge for a couple of pints and a meal. I would cross the bridge and main road then head up over Canny Hill either picking up new paths working your way back or re join Brow Edge Road and retrace your steps.
Got to be up around the 10 mile mark I am guessing. Enjoy your few days away.

All in one at those ages, especially with the size of the main bed, but as said depends if it is a jobsworth on reception. Turned up at a Premier Inn in Scotland with my bike the other week , Guy on reception says no bikes in these hotels, I said, ” sorry you had better look on your website where it says we are bike friendly and you`re more than welcome to put your bike in your room ” hardly acknowledged us after that. Good Luck!!

Until reading this thread I really hadn’t appreciated how much of a tangled mess I’d amassed in my 49 yrs, after a ten minute stint with my nail scissors in my hotel room last night I woke this morning to an extra two inches I’d never seen , adding that to the hair hopefully not getting trapped between my roll of fat and my Lycra could be a win win, now I’m just going to see how long it takes Mrs S to notice !!

Looked at mine the other day in the loft , September 1983 VSEL apprentice Fitter n Turner £36.00 per week.

I looked that young at 16 never went out or did much, used to tear off the corner of the pay packet pour out the 6 £ coins to live on and throw the pay packet full of notes in the draw.

Then I sprouted, discovered beer and women and the rest was history!!

If my last going out casual shirt was short sleeved then my soon to be work shirt will be short sleeved, I don`t care too much how I look I base it all on comfort , which does wind the better half up fairly often.

Not sure on the truth as not written a CV in well over 20 years but good friend is a high flyer in big corporations and he says they use “robots” to read the CV before a human gets anywhere near it, any buzz words missing and you are committed to the scrap heap by the robot, if this is the case what a sad, sad world we have out there, no wonder idiots are appearing on every rung of the ladder, good luck in gaining new employment Dan!!

Gone are the days in the Shipyard when a £10 MOT could be bought for £20 without anyone seeing the vehicle from a guy who acquired a book from a friend of a friend, and those that would go through the ball ache of swapping over 4 wheels for MOT day then swapping back to there worn tyres. This happened but I did not use either of these facilities :-)

Can not help but know where you are coming from. No full switch here also, got it off my dad, can not say my two daughters are too chuffed to have inherited it off me!! None of us are too big as we all exercise to keep it off but just wish I could be like the wife and say I`m too full to finish that instead of sat waiting for her to say that before polishing off her half full plate.
