Good effort 40 + miles done,more than most today.Same conditions up in Lakes yesterday met mate at 8-30 out for 5 hrs 75 miles soaked to the skin, just got on with it and got it done ,its in the lung and leg bank now, if I hadn’t been meeting mate then I would have found all sorts of excuses ,that is the secret for me and I’ve always told myself u only get wet once!!! Keep going and your spring rides will be better for it!!!

Few month back passed an old chap riding a mountain bike while taking my road bike for a spin out, evening I said, hello was reply , head down arse up for maintaining a good 22+ mph average up hills and down , after about 7 miles he pulls up alongside and says cheers for the tow im turning off here!!! I suddenly thought im a long way off a fit cyclist!!!

I hate the stuff but apparently both excellent and within a couple of miles of each other, The Manor Arms , Broughton-in-Furness and The Prince of Wales in Foxfield. Both had best part of 10 different ales on last time I was in , the Prince had no “normal” lager on at all not even bottles!!!

Just read this sat by the pool and sat at the beach in Benidorm last week. Dad passed it on to me, realised just how lucky we really are today. should be read in schools to open their eyes about what can and has happened!!!

Bought half a dozen last year, one on helmet one on road bike,rest to mates, one on the helmet with tie wraps(semi permo winter helmet) is excellent,mates dont thank me for it if i try and talk to them!!! lasted about 2 hour full plus 1.5 on flash on saturday before cutting out no warning, but it was daylight then( early start)!! no reported faults with these 6 ,but mate bought one last week and the battery case strap snapped on ride 2 leaving him in darkness and the battery back down the road,worked fine after mounting in top pocket,cant be bit at under £30.

Sadly you will find your local golf club full of cheats, its like the opposite to cycling with the cheating at the bottom end of the sport!!

Lower the seat and send her out on it down the steepest local hill you can find, with a bit of luck they might start working before the bottom !!! Dont`t forget to video it for a possible £250 tv pay out which will go somewhere towards replacement set!!!

The route you are looking at is a killer hikeabike in a few places imo ,and no cafe stops handy, I think the one in Kentmere shut down many moons ago, I may be wrong though as its 18 mths + since I was last there.

Out on main road until right turn to Dubbs reservoir ,up past Limefitt park caravan site and onward and upwards over Highstreet.Cafe stop in Pooley Bridge and either blast back along the road and over Kirkstone Pass or pick up this route depending on time or physical state!!!!

Not quite the same but got a call off the good lady saying she was stuck on the top of the local multi storey car park, she had only driven up the entrance ramp in a shogun with a roof box on and wondered what the horrible noise was as she shot up the ramp!!! Brockhole visitors centre, South Lakes Wild Animal Park Dalton,again Haverthwaite train , get there for the 10-40 departing train out to Lakeside onto the /boat up to Ambleside ,lunch in Ambleside back on boat to Bowness stroll round Bowness or indoor kids play area back on boat at Bowness(4-55 last one that ties in with train at 17-48) and back to car, always a lovely day out.Have fun!!!

Had a disco 3 since 2006, bought it for this purpose,regularly carry 5 with bikes, 2 on the roof with a small step to aid mounting and then 3 on the back on a tow ball mounted rack.I dont hang around and have never reset the computer which shows an average of 26.1 mpg since new.Only fix since new fitted some ERG blanking valves myself , £50 and 2 hours work. I do get the annual Land Rover service (ouch) but so far its paid dividends for no nore bills or breakdowns. I find it a pleasure to drive and 300+ mile journey as not a problem. Dads had all sorts of cars and every time he borrows it says its the best car hes ever driven or travelled in.Never missed a weekend trip up the Lakes due to snow on roads , it will go just about anywhere.
