that’s about unpedalable on anything but smooth ground. but you’ll have to wait and see what’s wrong with current batch before you ask for return! maybe notify on-one you want to return via returns@planet-x-bikes.com (that’s Barry I find him more helpful than Neil) then wait till users get the new ones to confirm they’re good..

yeah, well the spec is about 13.3″-13.4″ bb with a 160 fork (actually 0 bb drop with lyrik 160 and 15mm lower cup), so without doing the math, ‘cos with slackset i can’t, you’re around .5″ (12mm) too low still? that seems fairly typical and from what brant said bad enough to get it changed if you want, but you like it so that’s fine.

is that not very very slack btw? my first frame felt too slack with a rev150 and normal headset. personal i guess.

hopefully they are just checking them and they’re good. dunno find out soon.

tiz those are huge tyres and quite long fork? not surprised you get a 13″ bb.

also can see the CCDB is tight in there.

lucky you, i got a low bb swapped for an almost as low bb. still love the bike, and still getting pedal strikes.
btw, that thread has gone proper popcorn mental i don’t even dare touch it now. some damaged shocks are the fault of the frame, no one is complaining about travel afaik.

    hey there Brant,

i just got back from a nice, long sweaty ride today. i’m sending you my sweat saturated chamois underware. chew on those for a while.

    goddamn hilarious :D ahahahahaha. ah.
the court stuff, not so much. on-one need to get a grip on this. still. again not really brant’s fault. (if the company supported him better, maybe he’d have more time to sort the issues?)

i’ve been spankin’ it, but it’s in good condition. lightly spanked and lovingly serviced. funny cos my old reba needed less than the recommended pressure, so i assumed it’d carry over (both 32mm forks). nope, 90psi is like a wet sponge, not good when riding.

now running around 115 both ends (Monarch shock and fork + and -) which is .. odd?

can we get the shim stacks / orifices changed on 2012 Revs Loco?. should have started new thread sorry, but i think OP is ok? :)

i want something firmer basically the fork is too plush when unlocked (and too short, but that’s another thing). maybe i can adjust the poplock cable pull – just leave a loop of slack or something – to give me a half locked fork for riding fast hmmmm! not ideal either would prefer firm<>very firm rather than soft<>semi-firm. maybe i need an expensive pushloc to play with? don’t say get a blue knob i can’t let go of bars ;)

well, i seem to need a lot of air in my Revs, for my weight (64kg)

rode today at 115psi, seems great. something wrong Loco or am i just getting too rad for the sticker weights?

this is to stop them riding half way into travel.

also your site says adjust compression.. how? i’ve got red rebound, and blowoff. remote poplock RLT.

fork works great btw now i’ve upped both pressures.

sounds pretty normal to me, but let all air out and check it’s not hydrolocked (too much oil somewhere).

fair enough, but why is it an issue brant? because you have an unacceptably large amount of variation in the frames and/or not enough QC?
and people with damaged frames and shocks (before this announcement), they are going to get both replaced i hope?

I still hope you’re going to do another rev. of the 26 EG – even if you have to up the price by £100 to cover the time or whatever. and you seem to have no competition there either without cheap Megas and Pitches?

i don’t blame you it just seems the bike is jinxed. so why was it taken off sale?

edit: ah ok i see you’re still offering the CCDB version sorry, weird, just out of Monarchs?

jesus this is getting worse and worse. anyone thinking of an EG read last page of this again! they seem to be adding problems rather than fixing old ones :/

    http://forums.mtbr.com/titus/why-bottom-bracket-height-my-new-eg-v-3-so-low-813147-21.html

a few days ago we got this announcement (update at top)
    http://www.titusti.com/2012/07/whichever-hole-youd-prefer-its-up-to-you/

(to which i said how tf did they sell a frame/shock combo for 9 months without noticing they didn’t fit properly…?)

rob sorry my pics were a few pages back in that thread too.

at least on-one have done right thing finally and pulled them off the site whilst they figure this out. wouldn’t surprise me if they can the 26 EG now :/ can’t be much profit in it at £600, more on 29ers. shame as it is/was a top bike.

NP megas are sold out at CRC too.. bummer, the world needs a value 26 AM.

also worth saying hat on-one have been helpful to me personally, if sometimes slow and contradictory. i’d still shop there, but probably wouldn’t buy another EG v3.

that looks like a good deal actually. i normally use this guy (reba, i think rev is similar anyone know for sure?)

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rock-Shox-Reba-Race-O-rings-Seals-Crush-Washer-kit-/181079489613?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item2a292dbc4d

but you get wipers also with yours and it’ll def fit so good deal.

yep any fork oil will work, but might feel a bit different. i use SVI. the best is meant to be Red line? if you want to get spendy.

generally you can do several oil changes without changing any parts, even the crush washers can be reused loads of times IME. by changing seals early you might prevent a blowout on a ride but you might also introduce a problem after the service!

edit: ah wait that site is based in Korea, shipping is not so cheap. might still be a good deal though.

don’t worry you will adapt. drop heels and bend knees. heavy feet, light hands. constantly push bike into ground. you’ll be tired at first you’re using different muscles. easier to start on an FS if you have one. SPDs have taught you bad things, i had this big time after 10 years on SPDs. still sometimes forget and get a painful reminder..

yeah mate that’s the one i linked a little bit of above.. almost perfect 24minutes of comedy for me too there.. didn’t even know there was a series 3 might have to check it out, nervously!

I’m trying to think of a US series that didn’t get shit after first few series.. Six Feet Under was probably only one i’ve ever stuck through.
Things like Earl, Dexter, Breaking Bad all started great and turned soapy and meh.

IT Crowd: smart show abut dumb people
Big Bang Theory: dumb show about smart people.

I still think IT Crowd S2E1 is one of the best bits of sitcom farce ever written, up there with Fawlty Towers. S1 was better overall with Chris Morris rather than that fat overdramatic bloke i forget his name..

The humour has nothing in common with BBT. Also UK shows usually know when to end, US shows nearly always get run into the ground..

Monarch RT3 is a much, much better shock imho.. i’m comparing to RP2 also which is above R. RT3 and Monarch Plus (not ridden but going on reports) are stunningly good air shocks with none of that wallow and bob. Assuming you can get them to hold air..

Basically in car park Fox R/RP feels good, and Monarch feels harsh. but the faster you go the better the SRAM ones get, whereas Fox, i’ve found the opposite.. depends on frame and tuning and lots of things i guess.

remember this (very posted, but very important imho:)

(sorry forum doesn’t let me embed to a time).

ride whatever is fun for you, if you’re not having fun on the five because you (aren’t feeling the ground, feel a prat), get an on-one steel hardtail or something. Either you’ll love the change or might just remind you why you bought the Five in first place.. :)

and yes, wtf is a 3rd eye!

bd-de are good but I’ll tell you a nice shop that never gets the attention they deserve:

    Tweeks Cycles http://www.tweekscycles.com

had a nice lady from there phone me up the other day to discuss delivery times/options. how many shops will bother to do that? at most you get an automated email, often nothing.
Also the guys there are actually interested in what they’re selling and if they don’t know something they listen to customers. :o shocking.
They’re mainly moto based (Demon Tweeks) but do mtb and road stuff too. UK based.

lol. no strava times for you today then? :)

here’s how i’d ride QE now:

1st climb and up, do half of Electric then cut up right to Snakes (give way to other traffic!), do Snakes&Ladders, cut up across fireroad (like old orange trail, give way again!), down to the tables and snakebites, left and up around nasty bank, do final descent (steps are totally fine, sticky around final berms just slow down a bit).
    short and sweet.

well rob, you can measure anything you like for me :P but all i meant is i bet other makes have some surprisingly large amount of variations too, though maybe not usually as bad, and not usually as public. bb was the obvious problem here, but it turned out to be all over the place, all over the place. check out my frame comparison pics on mtbr (wish i’d bothered line them up better).

toys, comparable frames i was looking at were well over a grand, what are you seeing for £750 ish?

    smiff

yeah ok so A3 section is pretty bad, unless it’s frozen!

    edit: lumberjack, ditto.

Final descent and Snakes & Ladders great.

It changes every time you go in there though.. we should set up a site with a traffic light system like for pistes or something hehe.

Pitch and NP Mega were main contenders when i looked (frame only) not sure if either still avail.

but fully built there’s lots around £2k, that YT?

or just wait until new lot are confirmed ok.. which might take a while, because most buyers just take what they get, it’s only when it’s really far out (like my first) that anyone gets the tape measure out.

out of curiosity have you ever measured your Pitch, rob? i dunno what others tolerances are, probably better than +/- 10mm though (tbf, as brant said most of this is due to linkage).

    smiff
    Free Member

brant probably isn’t allowed to say “don’t buy one now”.
i can tell you just by deduction the old stock hasn’t been through his new QC process (like the incoming batch and all the 29ers) so although it may be near enough to spec, it may not be. the one i got from last (current) batch was about er 8mm too low i think. that’s pretty bad still in engineering terms.

So i’d not buy one now until you see them fully restock, which is past due so any day i guess?. even then, a few might be the older batch so watch it if your choice is currently in stock. heh sorry but on-one aren’t really being forthcoming about this so someone needs to say it. apologies if any of this is wrong and brant can correct me.

    http://forums.mtbr.com/titus/why-bottom-bracket-height-my-new-eg-v-3-so-low-813147-19.html

read last few pages, explains what to do.

    just seen your post below:
i think about page15 you can see mine being measured, you can follow that. you need to be pretty accurate.

don’t get hung up on fork length, i run a Rev150 and with correct frame it’s good.

fwiw i still think it’s pretty poor they made no attempt to contact customers and even were reluctant with people having trouble.. there’ll be people riding around for years on ones bought summer to autumn 2012 not having as much fun or complaining the EG is crap, when it isn’t.

    smiff
    Free Member

it’s not just personal taste, they f***ked up. check mtbr forum. on-one probably owe you a new frame for that 2nd one. new batch should be near enough dead on (in erm next month i think?).

basically brant did change the spec a bit, but kinesis went and made something way further out.
i’d also have preferred a v2 and less hassle but what can you do, there’s nothing close in value afaik for frame only deals. Spesh Pitch might be closest if they’re still available.

edit: also, try that fox shock on your frame, while you wait for on-one to respond, might be interesting.

    smiff
    Free Member

if you get one that was built straight it’s pretty good up and down and round about.
if you get an early v3 it might well be a pig.

hummerlicious when did you buy yours and have you measured bb drop?

    smiff
    Free Member

actually was very happy with action of Monarch so i’ve bought another cheap. i’d rate it above Fox RP. CCDB i’ve read doesn’t suit the frame, what i wanted is white Monarch Plus but can’t justify 3x price. it only leaked because i was told not to open it, so couldn’t lube it. dry seals + lots of riding = fail. though i realised i could have squirted some in valve hole. hopefully on-one sort mine and then i have spare to take on holiday ;)
    going down to bank now.

yeah trails are hard enough to want FS again :)

    smiff
    Free Member

ok so my shock failed and/or forgot how to ride a bike but.. trails are just about dry :)
bet that A3 bit is crap though, do what we did** and turn right half way through Electric (basically first time trail points downhill?) up to Snakes and Ladders drop in.

    ** unless this isn’t allowed.

    “New” shock ordered..

afaik it’s not safe to charge or discharge LiIon batteries without some kind of circuit, like you could with NiMH ok. going too high or low kills them or blows them up. then you’ve got sealing and durability to worry about.

lots of MagicShine and other chinese lights use that voltage so just buy one of their waterproof packs for about £20?
