If you don’t mind me asking where have you sourced the 10spd 11-46 cassette?

I had some enjoyable sausage at Curry on Hammer Strasse a week or so ago. More cafe, than restaurant, but very nice and not expensive.

I ended up replacing some 12 year old Sora when I got a new frame for aesthetic reasons only. It wouldn’t die, it was in near daily year round use, and winter training duties etc Whilst it cost me some chains, cassette’s, chain ring’s and jockey wheels these were cheapo affairs, so probably cost me less than £200 to keep it going over that time and it outlived two frames.

To be fair if you check out ezvid wiki you will probably see how much utter shite there is on there. I mean ‘the 7 best vibrating watches’ so I could understand ‘wow….just wow’ if some credible bike related company was knocking this out, but as it stands I think it’s just funny.

I’m a roadie who enjoys a spot of mtb’ing on a mountain bike. I’ve tried the gravel thing and cx but it’s not for me. I would just give up any off roading and stick with a killer road bike and live with race blade longs for winter.

Think the rucksack v panniers debate is dictated by how much you need to carry. Both have pros and cons. I don’t need to carry to much so a 20l size rucksack is more than enough for me, and as I commute on a decent road bike I prefer to enjoy the ride rather than ‘truck’ in with panniers messing that up. But everyone’s needs are different.

But as above mudguards and decent clobber. I have 3 rear lights, nowt expensive, and cheapish front flasher and a Smart 700 lumen thing, all usb chargeable. And for road commuting I don’t feel lacking in light.

    Enjoy.

So much so a specific Orange owners with fracked frames group was set up.

You got a link to that?

I haven’t read the whole thread but I think the whole thing could have been resolved by punching every one and everything thing in the face.

I’ve had mine for a couple of weeks now. It’s been used on a range of rides and a range of mechanicals.

I must be really lucky, whilst I carry a multi tool on all rides, I can’t actually remember the last time I found myself needing it to save a ride. It’s more an if needed item?

No matter how good the jeans or the shoes, if you are over 40 and combine the two you just become Clarkson. Luckily, there are alternatives.

I’m really beginning to think 1x threads should be filed away with ‘should I wear a helmet?’ and ‘what wheel size is best?’ threads.

I guess it all depends what you want from your premium priced item. If you are looking for quality or story, lifestyle and quality?

I have most of my clothes tailored, as primarily because I can afford to, but equally I’m pretty scrawny and have big thighs. So made to measure looks better and I like the quality. But I don’t really care about the story bit, I just want to look good in nice gear. If I’m unlucky my trousers might tell the story of what I last ate! ?

Seems the Brant has just gone a bit overboard on the story for something that’s essentially just a pair of keks. It never mattered that his cheap frames needed a coke can shim as the target buyers where quite happy with this as they ticked other boxes. But the premium buyers are just a bit more ****.

Hopefully the storm will pass and all those involved in this increasingly grimy story will keep trading successfully. I can’t see Rapha getting in this message, but I imagine there are more people guiding the ship.

If it turns out they still are what then?

Thread disappears into history, fanboys feel more impressed with their keks, and trousers keep getting sold. Oh, and everyone returns to the more pressing matters of what’s for tea, and what booze do I need.

I think mainly enjoyment of a p take, particularly when a brand makes such an earnest play of it’s marketing, as it can come across a bit smug. I’m sure some hater’s will be hating for whatever reasons; see brewdog threads and folks wanting it to be known they never liked the stuff in the first place. But I think for most folk it’s just a bit of a giggle.

Personally I have found the STW reaction more amusing, I wouldn’t have even commented on the original thread as I don’t really care about the brand or its buyers. But when people start censoring, for whatever reason, it gets a bit more funny.

For balance, and possibly since it all seems to have gone a bit MBR here today; I believe the plot could be read in different ways and all will be revealed in a forthcoming stw approved sub plot in due course.

Just voted Labour in a hopefully safe Labour seat in Manchester.

Just met up with my brother for a big fry up, and then we are heading for a day of boozing in the finest tradition of election days of old.

    Another vote for the Peacock.

Bigger vote for Fischer’s at Baslow Hall.

Hassop Hall has good food, but room’s are a little tired and if you land a noisy wedding on a Saturday it’s remote feel is somewhat detracted from.

Cavendish Hotel in Baslow is nice despite its location on the road.

More posh pub is the Devonshire at Beeley.

Is there an age thing on steel bikes? I’ve just hit 37 and all off a sudden I’m finding myself wanting one. I’ve raced since my youth and always just wanted bikes that are machine’s. So carbon and alu have always been my go to, and still ride a mix of the two. I’ve ridden steel bikes owned by friends but have always been left underwhelmed, and kind of dealt with steel fanboys in the same way I deal with coffee tossers; just smile, be polite and think of happy things.

But I have grown to the like the look of them, is there a huge amount of difference to them, as in off the peg or custom? I have no bike related abnormal body parts or dimensions, I would just need one racey.

    * Must be noted, if mrsmiths peg was the blue one that used to get posted, I used to think that was lush, probably what has sparked the steel urge.

    Pick two.

    Can I pick;

    – generous portions
    – cheap prices

A proper greasy spoon, run by old woman who look hard and understand food should be piping hot and plentiful. A place where the spoon stand’s up in your tea, and the staff have a polite disinterest in whatever you have been doing before you go in.

Ideally this will be next door to a destination cafe with proper coffee from whatever proper coffee comes from, and people can talk about this at great length. A place well stocked in lifestyle magazines, and free wifi. It should have locally sourced ingredients and a range of fancy cake at a price to satisfy their market.

    Then everyone can be happy.
