I just can’t shake the mtb’ers road bike, from the man who dislike drop bar bikes so much he made the roadrat.
On the plus side, it looks nice enough, and it’s not just a badged up catalogue frame. Much as the cotic wrap isn’t for me, it’s better than them writing cotic on it 2 dozen times in the fashion of many road bikes. I guess price will be the point, will it compete with the genesis aether or the condor Acciaio?

I just picked up a 3 year old black medium soul frame with salsa qr seatclamp and tired but working hope headset for 150 quid, it has plenty of scuffs from use but nowt to bad and no dents or dings. I wouldn’t touch a powder coated bike, unless it was a hack, as i would wonder what the seller was hiding.

I’ve just built myself up an second hand soul frame on a budget, and was given a set of year old tora’s from a mate for free. Took them out for few hours in the peak on sunday, and was rather surprised by how sound they were for a budget fork. I imagine I’ll be upgrading them at some point near summer, but i’m in no rush to be honest.

Why does one have to be right and one wrong…?

    Are you new here?

for the sake of a few pence or a pound why not just buy from the LBS?

Why not buy it cheaper online, and then set light to a diver, then you could have the lbs experience without leaving your sofa. Well minus the disinterested staff inreraction bit.

Was hoping to do it for the 7th time this year but didn’t get in, it’s usually a great day so all the best to those doing it you’ll have a blast!

For the money I think the gloves are great, my hands where chilly in them at times this morning, but seem fine when it’s not below zero. I have no issues with the fit or comfort, considering i’ll pay 3 or 4 times the amount for fingerless mitts, they are doing a stout job.

Moved from 130mm toupe which was good, to a san marco aspide which I find fantastic; I could be talked into thinking it was built with my sweet ass as the template.

Yep, i do everyday, having no car is a great motivator. Some slippy bits but most of the ice was pretty visible, and pretty chilly but nowt too bad. I’m currently warming the office with my own smug sense of superiority.

It’s only possible to conclude that realman is a robbing **** crab, he has trashed his own rep on here, so I guess he values the cash more than his rep.

    Well good for you.
However, humans use others’ behaviour to justify and legitimise their own

I just believe most people can differentiate between between the actions of an individual and those of a group, and most people take responsibility for their own actions. By your logic if I saw a white teenager shoplifing, I would have to assume all white teenagers are shoplifters, and it would be fine to also nick something from that shop because the teenager did. It doesn’t seem right to me, but keep going.

It makes other road users hate us and also makes them more likely to ignore traffic signals themselves.

This always gets trotted out on threads relating to any cyclists behaviour, and to me it’s just bs for STW hand wringers. Whilst riding home one night last week I saw a van pull the wrong way up a one way street to make a delivery near the bottom of said street, seemingly to avoid the time heading round the block, it niether made me hate van drivers or want to head the wrong way down a one way street.

Good christ, are we still going? How many posts does it take for everyone to say the same thing?

Perhaps people are hoping that keeping the thread in sight with most people hoping rm does the right thing, might just help nudge him in the right direction to sort the buyer out. Or we could just accept that ripping folk off is fine on the classifieds.

Do we know if realman posts on other forums? It might be good to post this link on other forums, save him doing the same again to another unlucky buyer. I used to enjoy rm’s posts, but shame he appears to be a scumbag. I hope he does the decent thing for the sellers sake.

I’m sure kicking the shit out of someone for rlj’ing will make you a true hero of the people, rather than just a violent prick. I guess Saturday night is internet hard men night.

No need for hand wringing; 32 tpi hacksaw blade, but use a carbon steerer bung rather than a sfn. Oh, a try not to breath in the dust.

    Edit – too slow…..

Put an ad on the wanted’s here, there is usually plenty of kit floating about.

I thought it was short stem and wide bars that were on trend, and that wider bars offset reach issues with shorter stems. Either way, as said above no one can tell you what’s right for you, I wouldn’t go spaffing big bucks on a combo until I knew what was right for me

I wouldn’t rule out the planet x superlight team alu frame and fork package, add to that a sram apex group, some of the vision trimax wheels (going for a song at px) or even the px al30’s, and some low end deda finishing kit that offers plenty of bang for your book and IMO you would be looking at a tidy bike.

First decent length ride on my new to me px team alu, which has taken over winter duties from my snapped principia. Popped in just over 90 miles going from crumpsall to bakewell to drop a birthday card in at my aunts. Fortunately they were out, weather was good, and ride time was just under 6 hours. Didn’t really push it, but was chuffed at how well the alu frame rode with some cheap pro-lite forks, felt pretty fresh and not beaten up. Considering frame, fork and headset cost me less than a ton, i’m a happy man.

Tried the new place on Wednesday, service was ok, food nothing special and the place felt pretty lifeless. That said, I never rated the food at the hub and found the service much the same. So, I’ve maintained my overall view that I go to ride my bike, and I’ll use the cafe there if needed.

Well, in the spirit of making assumptions, was the video done by one of our forum? Who would have thought such a massive knob could possibly be a member of STW…..

Any bike with guard and rack mounts; I commute 25 miles daily on a px team alu with the crud road racers on. Ideally I would have wanted proper mudguards, but frame and fork where picked up 2nd hand for a bargain, and I don’t carry enough kit to want panniers. Horses for courses, and all that.

Great voice and good tunes spoiled by selfish, bitter lyrics

I rather like the selfish, bitter lyrics and she can bang them out, overall though I find her music a bit drab. Seems like there might be an alternative to getting my cock out every time the jacob’s creek runs out though.

San Marco aspide; over 1000 hilly French and swiss miles in 2 weeks away last summer without even thinking about the saddle, it was made for me! Not cheap, but worth every penny to me.

Yep, 3 weeks of snivelling, aches and a hacking cough. It’s made me feel and sound like an old, I’ve no car so stuck with the daily cycle commute but no fun riding.

Been living the life of a commitment phobic for the last 10 years, so have been solo for about 7 of those years. To be honest I think Xmas is a time for families, couples, kids etc, so tend to just carry on as normal, do the family and friends bit, and generally quite enjoy it as most folk are a bit jollier than normal.

That’s a big difference in standover, I would think that’s about the difference between my mtb and road bike.
