I have to congratulate the OP for hand wringing of the highest order, having come off a bike at those speeds I can honestly say my choice of pedal was the least of my concerns. What tyres for bed wetting anyone?

I’ll stop for a slash or a flat, but both are pretty rare when out. I’m no fan of restarting when i’ve cooled down; just have a blast, clock it off, then go about my day.

It seems attaching a cam to yourself for the commute results in excessive hand wringing and reflecting on stuff you wouldn’t have previously noticed or forgotten about by the time you got off them bike; each to their own I guess.

I work irregular shifts and love the time I get for riding, granted most of it is solo, and quite a bit of it can be in the early hours of the morning. I’ve never needed much sleep and generally irritate people with my enthuse, even nights don’t get me down. It can be a pain to swap shifts to fit with the race calendar, but I can generally get to most. I honestly wouldn’t want to go back to a 9 till 5(or usually much later) I find that routine far more constricting.

If you are happy with a saddle arounf 130mm width then the Selle San Marco Aspide works for me, I found it an improvement over the 130mm toupe I was using previously, and I found that pretty damned good.

In context they were fine, but even out of context if that what he thinks he should have the freedom to say it, and I’m one of the people he would have had shot. The man is a bloated throbber, but that is another matter.

    Edit –

or just going on his on screen persona,

If you act like a bit of a cock, you just have to expect some people will think you are a cock, and I’m sure he is perfectly happy getting a rise from folk. He is just a bloke on the telly, it’s not worth getting too excited about.

The amount of shite internet fact these threads generate is brilliant. I struggle to tell who is just on a wind up or how actually believes what they are spouting, it’s great entertainment. But I truely love the folk who are so ‘out there’ they can’t be defined or restricted by such a limiting factor like a pedal, chapeau!
I like spd’s, and have never been that happy on flats, and for that reason I couldn’t give a toss which may be betterer.

Why do you drink on your own?

I drink on my own because I like the feeling of being a bit ‘boozed up’, infact I love it. I also like to drink socially and I don’t mind having a few nights off. Takes all sorts, I guess.

I think I would get away with it

Why would you want to on a frame of that price?

but im a bit disappointed with it

As has been said, talk to Cotic. One of the great things about buying from Cotic is their great service ime.

    Needs an 80 watt spacer.

Am I in a minority in just having had set ups that seemed reasonable and found them all comfortable? Rather than spending £££ and many hours refining it to the mm?

I used to think not, but the world of single track is a joyous world for the pro-bike fit providers, selling to none pro-riders. My three road bikes are 54, 55 and 56cm frames and all three see me race and ride ton plus rides with no ‘fit’ issues, or impact in times/ performance. I agree small tweaks can make a big difference to your posistion, but I don’t find it a difficult process to work that out for myself. But if folk feel they benefit from a fitting, then go for it, it it gets people riding happier then it’s all good.

But this weekend I will be attempting to find the magic 80 watt spacer………..cough..

Realman posted up the other night, but was immediately asked if he had refunded the chap for those brakes, and that seemed to be it. I always found him quite funny, but his behaviour with the brakes seemed to show his true colours. It was kind of ironic after he did the post ‘bigging’ himself up the day before. Unless we think cheating folk on the classifieds is ok, we are better off rid of him imo, you make your bed….blah blah.

I always thought road stems started at 120mm 8) I would say sized down and longer stem, but if the size down shortens that headtube any, you are going to have a gert stack of spacers, and we all know that is wrong 😉 To be fair if your body shape is that of someone from the Shire then your bike will always look a little kookie, but if it fits you and you like it, ride the arse off it and have a blast!

Been running a set of 2009 red on one of my race bikes, since oddly early 2009. Still running without issue, I replaced this on the main race bike with 2011 red last year. Certainly not as smooth as shimano, but I rather like it’s clunky feel, more similar to campy to me.
I’ve also had rival on the trainer/winter bike for 2 years and again no complaints. I know sram has it’s haters, but it’s done fine by me and not skipped a beat when racing. The front mechs are shite though, I’ve replaced all with ultegra on all bikes.
Is it more betterer than shimano or campy; no probably not, but it’s working fine for me and looks great!

Road biking has always been my first love, both riding and watching, but the years and years of doping scandals have made this a relationship of great highs and cheated lows, rather like my love life in general. But I feel I have become immune to the shock of it, rather like football fans and diving, and I would no longer be surprised to learn that any pro rider was doping.
I will miss Contador in the giro and tdf this year. I would guess last season was one of of his cleanest season’s ever, given the scrutiny and testing he would have undergone, and this seems born out in some of the climbing times and the fact that many sport ‘observers’ were noting riders showing more obvious signs of exhaustion and distress at the end of stages. His performance in the giro was stunning, and maybe the lack of drugs ensured he couldn’t carry the same form into the tdf, but in some of the late stages of the tdf he looked like a man riding for pride.
I love you all my drug filled beauties! Ride like the wind! I am ready to be heart broken 😥

    This is a subject that interests me but I’m working nights so my brain is somewhat scrambled, so could someone just clarify if this thread is;
1 – the op talking shite.
    2 – worth reading properly.

My parlee has a lifetime warranty, but if i’m honest I won’t be keeping it anywhere near long enough to test that. I rather like new bikes, and things move on, ‘a bike for life’ sounds like a punishment to me.
