Couldn’t you just look into it and let us know?

Not a problem I’ve noticed, I’m not really sure what there is to fall off? I have it frame mounted on the training bike and in the pocket on the posh bikes, without issue. Could just be me though, can’t say i read the reviews, just seemed a popular pump with some of the guysI train with.

Lezyne road drive mini; piss’s all over my old road morph and that was ok. Small enough to pocket just, or can be frame mounted.

I love my job, but wouldn’t go assessing self harmer’s and folk that have attempted suicide in my free time.

I love cycling, but i also love a few other thing; girls, booze, a good cup of tea. I like variety why limit myself..

I’m 5’10 with a 32 inseam and picked up a large team alu for commuting and winter duties, I run it with a 15mm layback post, 110mm stem and 1 5mm spacer. Given the frames are comapact and I was on the cusp of sizes, I recon a medium with a more standard for me 25mm layback post, 120mm stem and a couple more spacers would have given me the same posistion.

I recently fitted some raceblade longs to it, which piss on the crud clip ons they replaced, and with my size 8’s on a 172.5mm crank in winter overshoes, causes no real toe overlap. You can get them to clip if you really try, but for this to be an issue in normal riding I reckon you would have to be pretty lacking in style and co-ordination. Might be more an issue if I had gone with a medium. But as I got mine second hand, and needed it quick my choice was large or large!

For the money, even new, I recon it’s a sound frame. Obviously nicer frames are availible.

Plus, has it now become the norm that everything on STW is sold with postage included

    One price; nice and simple.

None of it strikes me as that tricky. Have a think about the price you want and how much it costs to post, and then add them together. Decide if you are willing to take less, if you can’t get what you want keep it. Same with buyer collect, just accept you are limiting your market. I’ve never sat in all day waiting for a courier, what a ball ache. Just think ahead a bit, it’s not tricky. If you find that all too much don’t sell.

If I’m honest yes i probably would. But i would just see it as one of the many feelings i would be having adapting to such a big change. Keep at it fella and good luck!

Of course i always like to have to chase up a shop that i am paying to do a job for me, and accept that other shops/ trades etc offer me some level of customer service for such a service, why should i expect that from an lbs. I find it even more pleasurable when ordering a part from them that i have paid more than i could have got it for onine and i am still waiting for 3 weeks later, despite numerous promises they would give me a call when it’s in. I also sorry when i haven’t bought them gift to ensure i get some level of service or get the same discount that your ‘mates’ seem to get, despite the fact i’m regularly spending big bucks. I’m always amazed there are so many of them left.

it’s BS to say you’d be riding your bike every minute available

Good job I didn’t say it then; I’m pleased to hear you get such pleasure building your own wheels. There is just a chance my life may be a little different to yours, and for me due to other commitments my riding versus tinkering time are usually at the expense of each other. I’m lucky I do a few things I find very rewarding and enjoyable. I’m sorry you feel the need to be so angry about such matters. So for clarity; i find life too short for building my own wheels, others don’t.

For £299 – the rs80’s would be my choice without hesitation. I own factory and hand built wheels so don’t have any real bias. Life is too short for building my own wheels, that’s time i could be riding.

If it was already cracked, i can’t see that using a calibrated torque wrench or the factory specs make much difference; it was broken. I do have a bit of sympathy, but you have dug your own hole.

What made you think riding a cracked frame up and down the road was a good idea, did you think it would make it better?

If I recieved a cracked frame, the last thing I would do if I noticed is then mess around with the cracked area, and go for a ride on it. I would return to box and return to seller.

    Edit –

    Could you help yourself?

    yes.

So did you alter the seat height before you took it up and down the road? Honest question, not making a judgement

We will of course issue a full refund to you upon receipt of the bike.

Doesn’t sound like they are refusing a refund?

And you just have to look at the flak hfh’s has had recently for investing in large capital projects for the MOD rather than direct assistance to those that served whether still in the service or not. There are a few small charities that used to provide this support who have struggled with fund raising since hfh’s hit the pitch. I’m not criticising anyone, just highlighting how tricky these things can be.

Donate to air ambulance or mountain rescue etc.

Fund raisers for individuals is one thing; but you whilst you can set up a charity for any worthy cause, setting up one that people think credible enough to give money to is the tricky bit. You need a criteria of who you want to pay out to. What do you want your payouts to fund, statutory/ 3rd sector provision will be different across the country. Will you means test applicants?

I’m sure it’s achievable, but not easy.

Edit – if this sounds a bit negative, it’s not ment to, i’ve just finished a night shift. But you need to decide if you just want a glorified whip round which whilst admirable, will flounder, or something bigger.

That dale has made me pitch a trouser tent. I’m sure disks on road bikes will be pretty sorted in a couple of years. I can’t say I’m in any rush for them, but once they are established in the mainstream I’m sure i’ll give them a go.

Get your first months money, treat yourself to a lap of honour around the workplace whooping in celebration, and then high 5 your bosses face, should ease your transition.

I camped in Bradwell in the Peak last year for a week, with just a road bike and myself. I posted most of the kit i needed to an aunt and uncle who lived nearby. Rode down from Manchester, uncle dropped my kit off at the campsite. Rode lots of miles, had some books and an ipod; was lovely. I guess you do need to be pretty at ease with your own company. Visit my relatives near Bergen most years for a couple of weeks and happily disappear off for 3 or 4 nights with a tent or bivi and the bike; love it, it’s great to get some proper space and good miles.

Edit – i guess if you like to feel a bit more ‘in touch’, you could take photo’s and blog it, or just write up a piece to post on here or somewhere similar; those threads always put some smiles on faces.

wwaswas  » I was just interested if it was a ‘revisit’ by a previous member under a different name that was all, no interest on who it really is, just his recent mission to wind Mark up about who owned what he posted had piqued my interest. +1

The debate that follows the article is worth a read.

It reads pretty much like a STW thread on rlj’ing, helmet wearing or wearing headphones whilst riding.

if you still have any faith in humanity and feel it ought to be removed.

    Yep.

not as confident on it as I used to be

I would wonder what that is all about, i always found the more riding i do the more confident i am,regardless of the bike. Don’t let it put you off buying something shiny thou 🙂
