    Booze, try taking a huge quantity of it in the run up to bed time. It may impinge slightly on your quality of sleep but nodding off should be a cinch.
    Also going to bed a 9pm is really only for people that have to get up postman early or if you’re over 80.
    Google tips for a good nights sleep if booze or m’ingtfu isn’t your thing

    After a couple of stella’s i could probably overlook Ms Way’s horrific personality and assist the Police in giving her a probing.

    I think kicking is a cowards option, particularly now everyone is riding flats. You need to dismount and go toe to paw for the punch in the face or head butt. Or as above you could talk to it, perhaps help it get to the route of it’s anger issues, maybe take it for a meal or to the pictures, get to know that puppy.

    Which would suggest his, “oh I didn’t realise, multiple devices and auto login etc etc” excuse is a bit erm, lame ?

    Aye, if i were loco i would have just gone with the being a nob option. He is on stw so it’s not like he is not in plentiful company. His explanation does seem tinged with bs, which is a shame.

    I’m thinking of setting up an alternative account where I’m not a nob, it would be a nice mirror to my rather unpleasant real self.

    I think the mods should have pulled this thread as it could threaten Singletrack if the LBS is not prosecuted.

    Is you on crack?

    Essentially frank – op moans about bike shop, loco defends said shop. Then later on in thread loco uses his second log in, shepleg (allegedly), to defend the same shop and suggest op has ‘history’.

    No one, as far as i can see is suggesting loco is doing this to promote his well respected business, looking at sheplegs history, it would seem he used it to make an arsey comment about one chap in a thread where he was providing great advice as loco. None of which is a crime. I suspect in the context of this thread he was just trying to defend a mates shop. And has maybe come off looking a bit of a nob. But i would still let him service my fork.

    An update … Shepleg is Simon Powdrill … aka LoCo … as in the guy on page one who came to the LBS defence

    If that’s true, that is a bit of a shame’er.

    He tried to bum u

    Well, i did think from the op’s post it did seem a pretty clear cut case of an attempted fraud, but then i read this;

    I’d say given the fact you’ve got your money back, what’s the issue? Honest mistakes do happen, you’re no worse off. You ever worked in an LBS where in general, the guys in there have to sell bikes, build bikes, fix bikes, order stock, book stock in, put stock on display, box stuff for dispatch, take stuff down the PO for dispatch, face up, sweep the floor, make the tea AND be nice to customers all at the same time!!!

    Now I’m thinking of setting up a charity for the special souls that nobly staff our lbs’s.

    Problem is jacob46 without you putting up the photo’s as you were invited to, it just looks like you are full of shite. STW’ers seem very fond of referring to their lists of people who they won’t trade with, and you may have eased yourself onto those lists (if they exist).

    No idea if i would have stopped. If the op was stood by his broken bike or was covered in blood, or was even just looking around like they might need assistance i would have enquired. But if they were just pushing along with nippers around i might not have noticed any issues and assumed they were going along at the pace of the slowest in the party, looking for somewhere to sit and have lunch or just it was a fat knacker STW’er who had over stretched himself and was giving everyone the evils and chuntering bastards under their breath. If i was riding past from the rear, i might not even bothered to say hello.
    On a road ride last month, i did stop by a bloke near castleton who had a flat. He did seem miffed that i offered him my phone so he could contact someone rather than give him my only tube, but i’d got 60+ miles left to get home.
    Chapeau to the op though, 3 pages of debate out of literally moaning about nothing. Classic stw.

    My formal job is nursing 30 hours per week which i do in 12 hour shifts so 2 or 3 a week. I also do up and rent properties with my brother and a friend, and time dedicated to this can vary greatly. We have also got a micro brewery off the ground, this is great fun, and physically only takes about a days labour per week between the 5 of us doing it, but we are all spending a bit more time doing promotions etc and generally having a bit of a laugh with it.

    I’m glad to hear you are loving your new bike or wheels.

    You never know 650b wheels could be the next (industry driven) big thing. Perhaps a few more threads discussing the relative merits of wheel size would help us all agree what’s best?

    I’ve currently got a 25mm conti ultrasport on the rear of my px alu. Fits fine, but the 25mm conti still looks smaller than some 23mm mitchelin’s on my race bike. Lets face it, 28mm tyres are for hybrids 😉

    Did till midnight, and it’s been rather a quiet night for the suicidal of Manchester. Must be the bit of sun we’ve had or they just got better at it. I’m a bit relieved we don’t have any Man U fans around here.

    Not long got in from a soaking on my ride home from work, and I’m now;
    E – some veggie samosa’s from the corner shop with beans, and lashing of chilling sauce and salt.
    D – some cheap Spanish wine, of the red variety.
    L – skin and demoralised’s latest offering.

    All is well in my world.

    The taxi driver that ran me over breaking my ankle, wrist and a few ribs and fingers stopped a mile or so down the road to report an accident, and gave his real name!?? Eagle eyed pedestrian got his reg. He never went to court and the rozzers believe he chipped back to his home country.

    Given some of the op’s previous on stw, i’m sure he will survive the mental duress of another contributor acting the arse with him. But fair play on the weight loss, good effort op.

    For 30-50 mile rides, imo you are not really going to be on it long enough to get really uncomfortable. So harsh, soft, racey or sporting geo frames wouldn’t worry me that much, just make sure it’s a good fit, i doubt any 3k bike will be a howler. Given this i would say buy whichever you most like the look of and one which has as much shiny stuff to make you really happy. It ain’t for us tosspots to judge how you spend your money, go for the one that gives you the biggest grin and enjoy it!

    X7 is probably over dressing a 300£ bike ime; x5, some ‘on offer’ cranks and cassette and get riding. I popped an x5 rear mech on my rather hotch potch Soul as i had one in the spares box, works fine, mid cage to suit the 2×10 setup. My intention had been to upgrade on pay day, but 6 months later it’s still going working a treat.

    Is bikeman1 some form of STW bot that randomly selects bits of other posts when forum traffic is slow? it’s like a less ranty one of those posts after 11pm when 99% of STW’ers have gone to sleepy time, which are then neatly mod’ed out before breakfast, drunkbikeman2 bot.
