Don’t know of a brake, but mavic used to do a cailper adjuster for this job. Heavy, ugly, not cheap and i would imagine not to easy to get nowadays.

As an example I had a lovely scandium niner rigid ss in the shop last week for a new BB and i’d say the vast majority of the folk that came in had the same question when i mentioned to them to have a look at it : Yeah..it’s a nice looking bike but where could you ride it?, not round here

You must be some much more awesome than your customers……..cool story bro……..slow hand clap……..chapeau ………etc etc etc……..zzzzzz.

I use a Chinese carbon frame with sks race blade longs over winter, with a cheap’ish groupset and fulcrum 5’s. This will be it’s third winter and it’s a high mileage bike; i’ve replaced the wheels and bits of drivetrain, but the frame skill looks pretty good if a bit scuffed up. The raceblade longs keep club mates happy, and are good enough that i’m not fussed about a move back to ‘proper’ guards, you do have to give your brake calipers a bit of a freshen during the winter though to keep all sweet.

All depends on how much you ride i guess

Ime more riding would favour the shimano’s, but this could just be me.

There are pro’s and con’s to either system, just get the ones you want 🙂

Bought some brakes, they were cheap, arrived 2 days later, and all was good. So far so good for me 🙂

It’s better him saying he doesn’t know of that is indeed the case. The alternative is he makes something up and you get angry when it doesn’t materialise.

No the OP established it isn’t. The not knowing seems to paralyse the process of making a choice.

Yeah, i believe it would be a load better if they took your money and made up a proposed delivery date which they couldn’t meet and then strung you on for a while. By being honest with you, it assists you to make an informed choice on your next bike.

I don’t consider myself an insomniac, although I’m just back in after nearly 3 hours on the road bike and I won’t see my bed again till at least midnight and this is pretty much a standard day. I might be able to grab a half hour snooze at some point, and I’m only 34. But I’ve got plenty to be getting on with, so try and see it as a positive thing rather than something to fret about. Plus I’m about to pop to my local spoon for some greasey calories and industrial strength tea, so it’s all good.

@Ton – It’s just really been 3 friends who decided we wanted to brew some beer, but luckily one of us is a proper brewer. We are just about getting to the stage of having a small range of beers ready for the drinking public, so I’ll give full disclosure when we are happy with what we have. We are currently brewing small batches, in some rented space at a diary farm in the Dark Peak, but progress has been slow as we all have other jobs. We haven’t really thought about the image or marketing stuff yet, we have just been putting bottles in folks hands and asking what they think of it, it’s been a bit of a labour of love to date. One of the trio has just been laid off and we would really like to get things moving so we could make the brewery his proper job. We are about to get a little more grown up about things, as until now we have just been having a load of fun. Given your interest, I’ll make sure you are first on the list for some samples of the finished product 😀

@ matt outandabout – I think we have the label for the ‘Orange 5’

I lurk around A&E departments and the like meeting lots of folk who have self harmed or attempted suicide. I only do this part time, so have my fingers in a bit of property, appear to be a joint owner of a bar/ nightclub and I’m the process of setting up a micro-brewery with 2 others.

I love the nursing and the brewing, but the number of hours I have to put in overall wouldn’t be great if I wanted to be a family man, or wanted proper sleep for that matter.

I could afford to give up the nursing, and at present the brewery is still costing me money, so I consider myself a very lucky chap.

At least you had the sense to try and generate more interest by starting a thread on the bike forum, but sadly haven’t really come across that well, which would also put me off as a buyer.

Colleague started using one about 6 months ago. Since then he hasn’t been involved in a car related crash, nor did he in the previous 6 months without camera. He did spend more time watching near misses and fretting about them, and has now stopped using it as it was making him focus on the negatives. I think he initially thought it made drivers give him more space, but my view is this was psychological. Although i did cycle in dressed in a clown costume, and did think drivers gave me more space too.

HAving a word is not real world

I am truly suprised that you believe sending an email is better than talking to someone, particularly over an issue that is contentious.

we have to live next door to them !

    Exactly.

To be honest, you lost any respect when you said ‘i’ve sent this email’ rather than having a word. If i was your neighbour i would have just ignored your email, and popped around to jizz on your washer before setting fire to it*.

    *the washer, not the jizz.

Cottage cheese, handfull of coriander and some lime juice. Mix it all together and you have something amazing. a waste of lime and coriander.

Home made veggie samosa’s from the corner shop; the only slight drawback is that one of the shop workers has horrendous body odour and sometimes when you are eating the samosa’s you just get the strangest whiff/ taste of the stink.

Really? (this was a sarcastic post right?)

Who knows, it seems rd post something like this on every wheel size thread. Read enough of them and it just becomes white noise. I can’t decide if i admire his dedication or just feel a little sorry for him?

I think from the picture I see the problem. You appear to be viewing booze as an ingredient rather than the main course.

If she doesn’t want to get dumped, then there is no ‘easy’ way to do it, try as you like. But sometimes you just have to get on with it, and accept that you will feel like a shite for a while. Harsh as it may seem, you are not responsible for her behaviour.
If you are worried she might make a scene, try packing her in a public place where she may be a bit more restrained.*

    *No guarantee’s mind.
