Anyone know if the Brand X lever (apparently piss-weak and will break) can be swapped for a front shifter? Love the look and quality of the RaceFace Turbine lever but that’s half the cost of the Brand X post! Cheers

    POSTED 1 HOUR AGO # REPORT-POST

    Heard good things about these:

Have you actually ridden it? I’m not sure about the Epic shock, but if its been sitting for a while it might just need compressing properly a few times to get all the damper etc filled back up with oil.

Interesting! Could be a short day out if you’re in the bottom half first round!

For UK stuff I use a 20L bag which is a good size with careful kit choice. Either a Deuter Attack 20 or a North Face Ion20 are my current bags. Big days in the highlands or alps I’ll jump up to 30L to carry a bit more kit.

I find Green Oil degreaser jelly goes a long way and does a good job.

incidentally – why do a lot of ‘technical’ ski/mountaineering pants have full length zips down the sides?

To get them on when you’re wearing plastic boots or crampons.

Decathlon would be my shout. Try to find the euro brands.

Sounds awesome, but I’d be wary of what practical implications would be for essentially offering a B&B… Insurance, Tax etc.

Maybe people who have bought a bike get a B&B nearby and spend a weekend getting their bike dialed in for a reasonable fee?

    Agree with ^^
Normally around 44.5, often size up to 45. But 44 in Bonty RL shoes are a nice fit. I’d say average width, I have narrow feet but have them towards the tightest setting.

For an affordable running watch I’d be looking at the TomTom Spark for £58.99 (£50.99 for the small strap), then use WELCOMEUK2017 for an extra £8 off!

    Here for reference: http://bentleycomponents.co.uk/dirt_20832.html

Though the strip of innertube arranged in a similar fashion and two zip ties has been doing great service on my Giant dropper for 4 years and counting!!

In balance, I’m almost 6′ and probably no more than 65kg, people I havent seen in a while always comment that the forget how skinny I am. Often wear 28 jeans.

But, i’m fit, healthy and eat plenty, including healthy and unhealthy food. My base diet is good but with plenty of cake, toast, beer etc. Sometime though if I’m busy and not exercising I can get by easily on fairly low calories/day.

When I’ve tried to ‘put on weight’ i just end up feeling unhealthy and put on an inch or two of belly blubber which is not healthy. I’ve given up now and am just content with what I am.

Point is there might be nothing wrong!!!!

Six at the Baltic is nice. Great views too.
Have heard good things about River Beat (near the Hilton).
Redhouse is good for Pie/Peas/Mash and a good pint.

Does anyone make some sort of harness you can clip to a balance bike so you can swing it over your shoulder when they decide they don’t want to use it when out?

Our wee girl got her Strider at the weekend too. I picked up a tip somewhere on STW… A loop of climbing tape about 600-800mm long, one end round the bars and one end over the seat sideways makes a good shoulder strap. I carried it round town for an hour or so no drama. The good thing about a balance bike is no pedals to spike you in the kidneys!

None, lashed it to some cuphooks under the windowsill due to energetic almost-two-year-old. She’s been pretty good at leaving it along after a few early growlings from Dad!

4-bike 29er one here. Fits 4 large size 26” FS MTBs, plus pressure washer, toolbox, workstand etc. I use cardboard on the base so can take out and shake out the mud. Get a little bit of condensation at this time of year, but it never seems so humid as to cause trouble (I’m in it every day so plenty of ventilation).
Might try the unibond 360 though… @tonyf1 do you think it really works?
    Very happy generally!

^^^ Sophie stuff is great. We had two giraffes and gave one away, wish we had kept it! They do a set of three ‘sophie balls’ that were great for teething too.

Pretty sure the rims I got 18mths or so ago from Superstar were CL25s (in 26” flavour). They are reviewed as cross country race rims but I’ve been battering them on my Trance and they’ve been all good without a single true despite Superstars supposedly dodgy wheelbuilding. Would easily buy again.

Black Mamba gloves are the best I’ve used of that style. Not indestructible but last longer than most others.

I’ve used these a bit recently, way more robust and better for repeated small on/off jobs.

Got a Breville 4-slice, but one that has two long slots rather than 4 short ones. Great for your spelt/rye/sourdough* cobs that don’t fit in a normal size toast slot.

Now Time cleats… there is some poor value for money!

I’ve always liked Grivel and also have Airtechs for less than extreme hiking/easy mountaineering. I use Asolo boots, an older model but very similar to the Trekker GV by the looks of the new range.

Where in NZ? There is a lot of forest trails if you are doing any singletrack and that means (often wet) tree roots. I’d go for a little grippier if so (such as the X-Kings mentioned ^^^).

I’ve got two FreeRide 532s. I use one at least 3 days a week (bike on car to nursery, then to work by bike).

I’ve previously had 591s on a work vehicle and the 591s are definitely nicer but the 532s do the job fine!
