Ceiling fan – I had similar problem and fitted a ceiling fan, a good ‘un with summer and winter settings. ie in summer it blows down to create a nice cooling breeze and in winter it can be reversed which has the effect of lifting warm air quickly up to the ceiling which as it hits the ceiling then gets pressed out towards the walls and is forced back down those walls. It works a treat, really.
Ultimatly depends on your rotors but I believe if you use Hope floating rotors with Ti bolts they come in at the same weight as the XC3 with the 3bolt rotor on
Never had an issue with the wood at Gisburn, it looks grippy as it’s rough cut, then again I’m always very cautious on it but might be ‘cos I’m a big wuss 😐
Cheers ron but it’s a bit of a trek, I’m in sunny Pendle area.
We have a saying round here, ‘if you can’t see Pendle Hill it cos it’s raining and if you can see Pendle hill it’s about to rain’ 🙄
Good point Biscuit and something I hadn’t actually thought about. So what happens if it doesn’t grab hold of the ball tight enough, first bump I go over will it slip down? Surely there’s a stop or something?
Tangent, check out the Hope website for details of Trials/SS hub. The specific rear Trials hub is available with four pawls, offset in two pairs, offering a forty eight engagement ratchet. Standard Pro II is 24, so Trial/SS is twice as quick.
Also I believe there is a new overhaul, it will from now on have needle roller bearings in the barrel. http://www.hopegb.com/voir_rhpr32btr.html
Don't know how they compare to CK but I can tell you that the pick up on the singlespeed hub is quicker than the standard Pro II due to the pawls in the barrel being offset in the SS.
I like that Merlin malt. I'm looking for a hardtail for my commute. I'm lucky enough to have a 9 mile commute with 6 of it on the Leeds/Liverpool canal. Superlight is nice but don't need full suss for canal bank.
My Santa Cruz luverrrlyness
This was taken while still in 100mm setup. Now running my rebas without the spacers at 115mm, much better bike for it. The bar ends have gone now and I'm sitting on a Fizik Arione.
And to think I almost parted company with her last year. Glad I didn't
we went back up to do the blue. – After coming around one corner at speed I was confronted by a girl in her early teens, sitting on her bike smack in the middle of the berm.
What would you expect to find at a TC on a weekend on the blue run, I think it's wonderful that trail centers have these graded trails so families and kids can get out there. Just a shame that there's always some wannabe XC racer coming around a corner at speed. You want to go around corners at speed? Stick a number on and lets see how fast you really are.
I had mine apart last winter to remove the spacers for increasing the travel. I read up about how to do it for weeks and asked on the internet if anyone knew how. In the end I took the plunge and dismantled them following instructions and I was surprised how simple they are. I'm local to you too (near Burnley) but like stumpyjon I'm no expert so I wouldn't trust myself to take someones elses forks apart. What I will say is have new seals and oil before you do it. Seals 'cos you may as well replace them while they are apart and oil 'cos you WILL loose what small amount there is in there onto the floor.
I've had my rebas for a year or so now and it's always been a bit sticky. A little better after a service but still sometimes requires a quick 'bounce' on the bars to release it. It's normal i believe.
Hi,
I have a white one (best colour). I use 115mm Rockshox Reba and it’s fine.
Keep an eye on swing arm bearings, they don’t last long. Mine is 10 months old and I’ve just had to replace them. Get some good stainless bearings and get a 40.1mm center tube made to sit between bearings, you can then tighten the pivot bolt better and it reduces flex a little. Any good engineering shop will turn you a tube, 19.8mm o.d. 15.2mm bore and 40.1mm long. I have just tried to place a pic of mine but I don’t know how.
