So will I end up in trouble if I offer £249,950 and 20K in cash.

    YES!!!
As HtS says, if it was that eay to get round it it would be stopped.

I still go with my first suggestion. Happenned to us on last house we sold. Buyer put a condition of purchase that we pay the stamp duty, so we countered it with a condition that they complete in 21 days so it can work both ways.

If you offered £249,950 for a house for sale at £250k, I very much doubt that the seller would say “no thanks me old china, I couldn’t take a quarter of a million pounds from you, you’re fifty quid short.”

I think you missed the point slighty. The OP is talking a tax bill of 8/9k so that’s a price range of £266,666.66 to £300,000 considerably more than 250k.

OR put in an offer 8/9k less than asking price to cover the stamp duty.

Tell the seller that you will buy the house but only if they pay the stamp duty.

there’s 2 helmets in my garage, they’re not good ones but are like new as they were my lads and have hardly been used. The blue one is a oxford size s/m (54-58cm) and the silver one a little smaller s(52-56cm)
Although this picture doesn’t show the straps I can say they are like new with the clip together type fastening and all the buckles are intact.
If you want pics of the straps I can do that. If they are any good to you you’re welcome to them/one of them. I’d say the shell would have to be butchered to get straps off.

Nice work mcmoonter, if you don’t mind me saying, you may find that the blade needs to be more of a wedge. With a slim axe like blade like that you’ll find it sticking in the rounds a lot. With a more wedge like blade or maul you’ll find it will only go into the wood an inch or two and the log will split.
    Pfft, amateurs….. 😛

My bowen technician recommended reducing my caffine intake ‘cos I was dehydrated resulting in my adrenal glands to be very swallen, he said don’t cut the first couple of the day straight off, these first couple would still kick start the metabolism but then I should replace all the other coffees of the day with filtered water. Apparently the filtered water assists in removing the toxins

Is it from a 10 speed groupset?
If it is, Shimano have had some issues with the 1st generation left hand shifters. They should replace it under warranty.

Yes it is a 10 speed groupset, that’s good to know, thanks.

42 this year, disregarding kids bikes, some 25 years ago I starting out riding something like this and have had everything you mentioned above. 2 weeks ago I built this as a winter bike and I absolutely love it, simple, honest and unpretentious. I still have the lightweight full suss and the light road bike but this is a joy to ride, it’s just like it used to be 8) so know exactly where you coming from

Hmmm! What is shimano warranty like? I guess it’s probably around 2 year old, originally on a bike that I hardly used. Even now a look at the lever you’d say it was brand new, I can’t prove how much use but can show that it’s still like new ???

Is it worth trying or is it new shifter?

Same here, tried loads of saddles. Fizik Arione works well for me on the road bike but not on the MTB. I have a new WTB rocket V sat at the sorting office waiting for me to collect. Try what MTG says before spending more money.

I know what you’re saying and that Ridley I have is known for being a stiff frame which is why I don’t acually want to part with it but I would like something for the winter/training/commuting and keep the Ridley for ‘best’.
Is it worth robbing the bits off it though? When my CRC wishlist got to £800 for the Kaff bits it made me think……
