Hmm maybe I’m doing something wrong, I’ll have a play with it in the morning.

I am wondering if a wheel mounted rack will work with really small bikes < 12″ wheels?

Should do as the wheel mounts slide closer together for the shorter wheelbase of smaller bikes

I got one of these >>>

and I’d say be careful putting it on the back of a van

My car, Peugeot Bipper is a straight up vertical flat rear end (if you get what I mean) just like a van. Putting all 3 bikes on this rack is a PITA cos the bike closest to the vehicle has the have the bars turned otherwise the end of the bars bangs against the back of the car. On my Clio it’s no problem due to the sloping nature of the hatchback it means the first bike is nowhere near the bodywork.

Other than that they are great, very sturdy and much easier than the roof mounted rack I had on previous cars.

Just had to insure our second car, little Clio 1.5 diesel. Been with same insurer for 5 years at around £300 a year, renewal quote was £778 😯
I rang to check it and they said “don’t worry it’s nothing you’ve done, it’s cos of your postcode, the BB region has taken a massive hit lately”. Oh, that made me feel so much better, NOT!!
Got cover from LV for £335 but have to say that most quotes were shockingly expensive, I think we are doomed.

Even easier, gravel it. Shutter it up with tanalised timbers fill it in with gravel, whacker it down firm, staple DPC to the bottom of some 3×2 tanalised and sit the shed base on the tanalised timbers.

+1 for flagging it. Not as perminent as concrete, should you ever decide to move the shed it’ll be real easy to put the area back to garden.

Was on the Orihuela coast last August and found the area paticularly ‘thorny’, one ride was cut short after 7 puntures between 2 of us. 3 of which we noticed at a ‘brew’ stop, chained bkes to the fence outside the cafe and came back out to 3 totally flat tires, my first thought was that someone let them down cos we’d parked them in the wrong place or something.

Of cousre it could just have been bad luck 🙄

What ever you decide, enjoy yourself

despite the cr@p the sales guys come out with

Had one call last year to tell me they noticed my roof was full of moss and the gutters are blocked up, I listened to him for 20 mins spouting junk about how I MUST get this sorted out ‘cos it will cause long term damage blah, blah,
I asked all the right questions and took his leaflets before walking him back up the drive where we could get a nice clear view of my nice shiney 2 month old roof with all new guttering and downspouts……

    HAHA, EPIC FAIL

Can’t stop thinking there is something/someone behind there.

I’m scared to death of Mr. Underbed !!

    Combined 60mpg is bullkack
I have the Peugoet one (same thing, different badge) as a car so could be a little heavier than the van variant
Day to day average is 50mpg (20 mile round trip commute some fast A roads) according to trip computer but is actually 48mpg by my calculations.
Recent Mway trip to stockport, 120 mile round trip showed 67mpg on trip
Road tax is cheaper for a car variant, £30 per year, I beleive it’s £200 for the van.
Mate has the Nemo van, loaded up and with ladders on roof most of the time and he gets nowhere near the same day to day average as me.

This thread was going well in favour of a bread maker, until

I used to use mine a lot, but now make it by hand. Due to the longer fermentation process used when making it by hand it tastes soooo much better. It’s quite therapeutic doing the kneading as well.

    and

For £2-3 you can try a few recipesand see if you like it,no machine needed.

even though my double range oven has it’s own carbon footprint, I have it already

can probably keep the oven on for a year before you get near the carbon footprint of buying a bread maker.

    how hard can it be?

it only takes about 30 mins of actual work to knock up a loaf

this was the clincher for me

This short study proves that people making bread by hand are simply psychopaths, requiring the slow steady movements to stop them shouting at people. If, like them, you need extensive therapy, THEN YOU MUST NOT BUY THE BREADMAKER!!!!

Being a psychopath of the first order myself!!!!!!!!

Knocked up my very first loaf this afternoon, a couple of quid for the stuff and half an hours work. It’s on it’s second rise now and should be ready to shape and bake in another 30 minutes ish.

So, to the OP, from someone else that has considered a breadmaker for a while, DON’T BUY THE BREADMAKER!!
Do it yourself, it’s easier than I thought (I haven’t tasted it yet though).
    Breadtastic!

For a minute forget about the initial cost of the machine, what does it cost per loaf?
Just wondered if there is a saving or is it just about ‘making your own’

Cheers for that, had a change of plan now though. My lad thinks this is pretty cool but would actually prefer a BMX so off to the shops this weekend.

    Rusty Mac,
Yes you have a BULB there, that’s what I was trying to say 🙄

    Smarty
    Free Member

Rusty mac lets have a look at the 10mm axle that you are wanting to put in. I think you’ll find that if you have a 10mm thro’ pro2 axle that it won’t work. different dia for the freehub for a start.

    Smarty

I noticed another fail, it’s not a pro 2 hub.

Looks like a bulb to me, it’s defo a bulb 12mm thro’ axle.

Part number 9 is the one I’d check first.

Have you had the hub apart or had the freehub body off? It could be possible that you’ve missed out the little spacer between the driveside bearing and the freehub body. Hard to say without more info.

Saddles are a very personal thing so you really need to just buy and try. Buy one if you don’t like it sell and try another untill you find your perfect sadddle. My preferences are fizik arione and a toupe but that doesn’t mean they will suit you.

    wot he said ^^

I’ve tried loads and I’m finally happy with Fizik Arione on the road and WTB rocket V on the MTB

It’s a XTC frame(£100), XT(cranks i assume(£50)), XTR Shifters(£65), Mono-Minis(£75), Reba World Cups(£100), Crossrides with SK Supersonics(£150), Flite(£20), Thomson post(£35), Truvativ stem(£20) and USE carbon risers(£45). Those are VERY rough prices but you soon see that it’s worth splitting, that’s £660 there and there’s still other parts yet, chain, cassette, grips, bottom backet, pedals.

I’m sure somebody will come along and say “OH that bit’s not worth so much” but I’m just suggesting rough prices that seem reasonable. Only you can decide what it’s worth to you as to whether you keep it/sell it/split it.
