My Parents have the most terrible neighbours, nice house and stuff so ok that way but cars are always in an out of the driveway, people visiting all the time. They have one of those huge aussie grill things in the garden and are always outside cooking with friends round and music playing from the summerhouse. They have a lad at 12 and he’s always got mates round hanging about outside making noise and kicking balls about winding the dog up and making it bark, their summerhouse is like his games room with a tv, console and stereo etc.. If it isn’t BBQs and music they seem to be gardening and DIYing all the time, which is ok but for the noise, he seems to have a gastly machine for just about every job, chainsaw and log splitter, strimmer, mower, shredder, leaf blower, hedge trimmers, rotavator, power washer, last week he was flagging and had one of those whacker plate things, nearly shoock the house to bits.

philfive, pretty much the same as my route, I go from Southfield (near Shooters Arms) so I ride over to Gorple on the new link from Thursden Valley so you’re missing out that for starters. Also on the way back (I’m guessing you’re in Worsthorn) why not do a left down into Hurstwood.
Really depends on what sort of riding you like.
Just after No.13 on your map you could do a right and take in Stairs Lane and Bodkin Lane over to Stanbury then a bit of road back to Moor bottoms and over to Coldwell res. I could go on.

Note the smugness of that track stand.

Have a look at the Hydrapak Big Sur. I’ve just got one. Seems good, bladder turns inside out for cleaning and drying, pipe attaches to bag with QR stop valve, bite doesn’t leak (yet). First negative I’ve found is that the lock on the bite valve is a twisty thingy and it’s a 2 handed job.

Sorry, that picture made me chuckle 😆

Like Elfin said it’s easierer on slight incline (uphill).
I find it easy stood up, right pedal forward with the bars turned to the right and the top tube resting against inside of right leg. I can do that all day but it all gets a bit wobbly if I sit back down in the saddle, just can’t get it right sitting down.

Brought up and live here, I know there are more impressive places to ride but you gotta admit I have a descent playground right on my doorstep.

I’ve got the Bipper car, need to take the back seat out (only 2 thirds) to fit a MTB with wheels on. Put front end in first and front wheels drops into rear passenger foot well, fits in easy, height is not an issue, plenty of it. If you can drop front wheel of bike just need to fold small portion of back seat, fits easy.
Work have a Nemo van and I think we’ve had 2 full bikes in it.

Things an LBS really should be able to do….

    Carry some stock.
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been to LBS for something (usually a basic thing) to be told “I can get that for you, should be here in a couple of days”.

FFS if I wanted to wait a couple of days I could have stayed at home and ordered it myself. We’re not talking unusual items here, last visit to a LBS was for a SRAM PC991 chain, how the hell can a bikeshop not stock a selection of chains.

    Peroni Nastro Azzurro

Don’t know why but 3 or 4 pints of this stuff knocks me off my feet. Normal beers or lagers aren’t a problem, have been known to put a gallon away on a big night out but Peroni is, for some reason, different. Never been ill off beer til I had this stuff. Just to be sure it wasn’t a fluke I went to a function some months later and had another Peroni night and the same thing happened 🙁

Would like to but can’t justify the extra £200

Ah! I didn’t know the difference was that much, TBH I didn’t look at the nonHD ones.

    Humax freeview HD+ here.
IMHO get the HD one, even though you won’t get HD in your area it will be ready for you when it does arrive. The HD part is only 4 channels that you won’t get right away, BBC1 HD is 50, ITV HD is 51 etc (if that makes sense) you’ll still get all the channels.

I have Esse, “hand made in Britain since 1854” says the website.

Actually made in the town where I work.

Not cheap at £850 but nice quality, still on original fire bricks and door seals etc after 5 years use. Nice big window too, the door is almost full width of the stove so no probs getting big logs in. Might be a bit big for you at 8Kw but they do it in a 5Kw I think.

    You sure it’s dead?
Mine died once and I found out there’s a hard reset button hidden underneath it. Need a straigtened paperclip to press the button. Press and hold it to reset machine. Google it.

I had 10mm rebas on mine but was never happy until I found out it was possible to remove the spacers and make ’em 120mm.
Much better bike for it, IMHO go with 120mm

    Always been the same.

I’m off out right now. That way I’ll be back half 10/11 and can spend the day with the family, which on a nice day like this will probably be out riding, this afternoons ride will probably include beer and ice-cream tho’

    My prediction was wrong.

It far too nice outside to sit in watching tv so I’m off out on the bike.

Always align valve with tyre logo and as someone else said the logo on the hub is in line with the valve hole.
Also before embarking on any ride always set off with both front and rear valves at top dead center! 😛

    I’ve seen:

Tasty looking blonde in a blue Porsche reg HOT 80X

Also a rangey in Manchester reg XTC 42

I’d like CRA 1G which is currently on an Aston Martin Vantage V8 and I don’t think I could afford it.

    Only kiddin !

Doc gave me antibiotics and some cream called Fucidin.

Had to pay prescription for the pills but doc said the cream was only about 4 quid so just buy it over the counter. (if that makes sense).
