Thanks for the info, we’ve been considering a camper since I was in college, getting on for 20 years ago and now seems the time to take the plunge!!
T4 would be the sensible option and there a nice example of a T25 on ebay and quite close.Although I would really prefer abay ( splitties are just crazy money)
Took the kids to the “Big Bang” at Sata Pod last weekend so still on an air cooled high

Not exactly sure on sizing of these frames, the largest appear to be 17″ with atop tube 0f 23″.
This seems a small frame as i,m 6’4″

Hopefully see the original owner in work tomorrow, just hope he still got some receits.
The A1 frame has been superceded by m5 alu frame, do you think will that make a differece as regards the replacement, I think the bike is 4/5 years old

So lets say I’m not the original owner, however the guy who had it before me only used it for commuting and I wouldn’t say I’ve been particularly “rough” since I’ve owned the bike

Llandegla is as “Welsh” as they come the reason why its not [/quote] is that the geology of the place is different form Snowdonia, now I’m no geologist but the surrounding rock is slate shale.

I cant remember if its the first or second burmed corner looking out along the valley but the protruding rocks on the approach are like knives, you have to pick your way through them.

Riding the trail today on my “cinders” definately made intresting with the greasy nature of the track.

Passed the work team today, the new trail down by the “tin hut” looks good.

As regards your opinion of the trail here I think it depends on the bike you ride. As I’ve been quite abit of riding on the Clwyds I was surprised how cut up and warn the trail is in certain areas, I agree the first part which has been resurfaced does appear to be over done, very wide and smooth.

It all depends what you ride, personally I ride a Rockhopper hardtail I think this suited to the trails, but if you turn up with something with 6″ travel £3k bike you’d better book your flight tickets to somewhere else extreme.

The black run does bite, I broke my scapula here!!

Not exactly sure about tax as regards renting the property out but the capital gains also qualify for “Tapered relief”, the longer you’ve owned the property the less tax you’ll pay.

Lots of different takes on the subject of “trimming”, I’d thought about stowing a set of secuteurs but i see two possible problems.

    1. you fall off and impale yourself, or

    2. you end up being classed as part of the knife culture

    subvresives these mtb’ers 😆

So apart from Smee I take it everyone rides the trails/paths as they are, I’d better buy some shin protectors then 🙄

Oviously organise a Mountain bike weekend away with her, she’d love that!!

You better empty the knife draw 😆

Its like hommage to the Thatcher years, first we have the miners strike discussion, only calming down now after the BBC four program mid week and now we have the Norman Tebbit appreciation society on here, thats if your old enough to remember that infamous quote!!

Yeah Sofaking or I’ll push you off that boardwalk 😆

As regards to Dogs at trail centers, if your watching Llandegla “management team” more dog tie up loops on tables, my dogs loves everyone elses food!!!

The litter aspect of trail centers depends on how you arrived at riding mountain bikes.
If you started by enjoying the outdoors and came from a mountaineering background then you dont drop litter as you care for the environment in which you ride.
However, if you started your intrest after watching the “extreme” channel or came with your “mates” from some other team sport these tend to be the types who drop the litter.
As I’ve commented before on here why do some people ride round in groups which MUST stay together blocking the trail, these are probably the same people who post comments about dogs at trail centers as “it ruins their line”
Stop knocking Llandegla great place to ride just some of the people it attracts

Considering a 29er, just one question the majority of bikes I’ve seen are fitted with rigid/ carbon forks. Is this because the 29″ wheel rides “over” bumps and hollows so well or is it that people tend to ride them over well graded tracks so no requirement for suspension fork.

Cheers, just noticed on the Os map parking near to Heap Alyn, is it fairly safe. Not much parking in Cilcain if I remember only opposite the White Horse in front of the church.

I’m not surprised, thought I’d bought a bike at Xmas, Kona Coiler, in the end the guy didn’t want to let it go at the price the auction ended at, no reserve.

Clwyds, Moel Famau very icy this morning but only walked to the top. It looked like anything over 1000′ still well coated. The area around the masts at Llandegla where well covered.

The moulded grips are alot more comfortable to use, gives the ability to nip bolts up without resorting to a “tommy bar” if access is restricted.

If you get one with a rack it helps with the OCD !!

Dezb, its not just me who lost control in the garage then!

I’ve been riding my local woods, sometimes with my dog, before it was a trail center!! Whilst cars whilsted past with bikes, on their way to mid wales.

Again it all comes down to if the dog is in control and the dog is suited to taking them with you for a ride.

Lets face it, there are some people who if you like have no “trail etiquette”, who also pull out in fromt of you because they’ve got to ride with their mates, go the wrong way round or decide to stop for a chat half way up a climb.

Did i say shed session, I meant sled session

Images of kids doing woodwork and filing exercise 😀

Blue skies here but the thaw has started, so trails bit to muddy.
More likely tomorrow, more likely to take kids for another shed session when they get home from school.

I always though of mountain biking as a break from the day to day life controlled by the HSE and the sensible police.I didn’t realise that lots of mtb’ers were undercover HSE agents!!

As long as the dog is under control, runs with you during the week I cant see a problem. If its risk management try golf

I think its called “live and let live”

Only just noticed this post and I admit it brings back terrible guilt feelings over loosing my own dog, Gus.
He was a 16year old Springer, the reason I bought my first mountain bike.
He had gone deaf, catarracks and severs arthritus in his hips, I would probably be still spending money at the vets now but it was my Dad who made the brave desicion that enough was enough.
My Dad was a dog handler in the RAF, and always believed that the dogs welfare was of importance not the owners feelings.

We were “dogless” for three years until walking through town noticed a post in an animal welfare shop for a labrador, needless to say he is my best friend( agrees with every thing I say) and occasional riding companion.

Yes they do make a mess, disrupt family life, cause endless rows( sometimes with neighbous)and wife/dog hierachy but dont you just love em!!

    Best Wishes for the future

Its pleasing to see so many tall riders on here.I’m 6’4″ with inside leg of 36″.
I previously rode a large framed hardtail,22″ but I am now riding a 19″ Specialised, I’ve had to fit alonger seat post 410mm which for climbing is extended up to its limit , dropped depending on the descent.
I prefer the standover/clearence of the smaller frame but the cockpit when climbing does seem cramped, running a “standard” bar stem on the bike.
The problem is when looking to change the bike for second hand item is that there doesn’t seem to be that many large 20″+ frames out there!

    Don’t mention Coilers!!

Though I’d bought one on E-bay over Christmas but the seller pulled out. 😕

Would of been ideal as live close to Llandegla

Still intrested though, so if you know one going, 20″ frame, post on classifieds etc

As a teenager I always did mountaineering both in Snowdonia and the Lakes, When we got hitched, prior to starting a family we had a Springer Spaniel. As you are probably aware these little chaps are charged with loads of energy, so as away of exercising the dog away from roads etc decided to buy “an off road bikes”, this is back in 92

This dovetailed in nicely with dog/ walking etc.

Now the springer has gone, chasing rabbits in the sky, we’ve now got a Labrador. we’re still “mtbing” but relatively little mountaineering.

So the bike thing really started as extension of the hillwalking thing!!
