    No mo’ than usual.

In my line of work it doesn’t pay to look pedophillic

I’m hoping to show up. On my mums bike. Possibly with a newbie and/or a couple of regulars

No idea, I always use the spare wheel from my car but thought this might be less hassle.

Anyone got a link to something that works?

I too am in the ‘horrific accident waiting to happen’ camp when i look at these frames.

Which is a shame, cos they look very well made.

do you contact the linkage with your legs at all? if you were to slip off the pedals on to the top tube, is it really going to be as bad as it looks?

if you do decide to test these questions out then please film it. I’m sure jackass would be interested in your footage!

I’d add the blur trc to the list, just because every Santa Cruz I’ve ever owned or borrowed has made me want to ride the socks off it.

Hard to define with one moment for me as I’m a bit of a multiple personality with my biking; local guys are great for a dirt jump or downhill session, my mates from Sheffield and my old man are always up for some decent xc in the peaks or trips further afield, the herts crew are a legendary bunch and carnage is bound to be around the corner(on or off the bike) and my brothers will ride whatever I’m riding that day. I’m full of memories related to riding, couldn’t pick just one of them.

Yeah, had a few goes and liked it a lot. Not been on it since I hurt my hand, big bike is more forgiving until I heal!

thats pretty much an xc bike then, double bonus!

Rickos, think the angle made it look long, what with the hi rise bar and rise of the stem. great looking little bike that, been tempted by them myself in the past.

I like the idea of ss’ing my rampant but some of the local freeride/jump lines need a fair old crank to clear the gaps. Not sure I could ride it back up if I fitted a big enough gear!

EDIT: thought I’d add a pic as i keep banging on about it :P

What he said, I went hope on my recent banshee build, very simple to get the right one.

Looks like a wicked little play bike! Is it a funny angle? The stem looks long and the downtube looks bent. Same kind of do it all play bike as my banshee rampant (only I’ve got gears)

    Conti RQ’s

There’s a few shorter travel bikes that will take longer forks. My banshee rampant being one, but Santa cruz’s shorter bikes, yeti asr5, cotic, transition, without thinking too hard.

Plenty of mid travel bikes don’t give up pedalling efficiency either

Nope, still haven’t got those quite right. Seats keep breaking off which leaves you spiralling down the street on a broken piece of plastic.

Sounds fun. Enjoy it while you can!

Injury limits me to about 45 mins of riding before my hand goes numb at the minute. Got something short but stupid planned for about an hours time…

Chiefgrooveguru I was the other way round, weird eh? I think it’s because I thought I knew how to corner so was just itching to get to the jumpy stuff. I learned the error of my ways further down the line and actually paid attention next time round!

Wilko that will be fine, it’s the same technique and mindset regardless of the size of drop/jump

Nickjb I didn’t feel like I made ridiculous amounts of progress in the session itself as im slow learner and cautious at times, but I was taught the basics really well and learned how to apply them elsewhere. It’s the practice and repetition that follows until it becomes natural that brings the real progress. The course itself is just the beginning, setting you on the right path so to speak.

I went on a group jumps and drops session first off and found it useful enough to book a 2-1 with my brother. To say it transformed our riding doesn’t do it justice. We’ve both ridden stuff that we saw as the sole preserve of freeride legends and are still progressing. Others will say similar things far more eloquently but basically yeah, get it booked ASAP.

Scott rocket pads are great for a number of reasons. Unlike most gasket-style pads they are made from a neoprene type material so don’t catch on the velcros straps and pull themselves apart within months. The material on the outer face of the pad is really robust and doesnt tear in the first crash like many others do. They also have an empty space between your kneecap and the padding on the back of the hardshell that stops them rubbing on long xc rides (causes astroturf like friction burns!0. They move around far less than any other pad I’ve tried, especially in crashes and They properly absorb even sharp impacts unlike a lot of the lightweight stuff out there.

They might be a tenner more than say 661’s or nukeproofs but they will last you twice as long

Too subjective to get a definitive answer, even outside of stw!

For example, I see no bikes I this thread that I would be happy to use for everything I do, but I know very few folk would consider what I own ‘all-rounders’

The closest thing IMO is the current bottlerocket; with a decent spec it’s light enough to ride xc, tough enough to go mental and has neutral enough geometry to handle dj, dh, fr, xc, am, pm, ATM,rpm aa, rac etc… Depending on the skills of the rider of course

What freeridenick said +1, just picked one up from freeborn myself. Been testing mine out locally over the weekend and its a hoot. I wouldn’t fancy any ‘hucks to flat'(TM) but 25ft gap/15ft drop to rocky landing was easily dispatched. Running 140 revs on the front at the minute but can dial down for xc/dj.
