thats a nice bike fella. now you have ridden it you can go back and sort those cables out properly! i would have gone for black kit myself, would look proper stealth, possibly with a little bit of silver too.

something like a meta, 'dale rush, orange 5, that kind of thing would make a good fun fs. hardtails are too numerous to mention these days, just go for one with the right tt length at the right price id say

set of revelation 2010's would be good for you, prob wont weigh much more than your current forks if at all (3.85lbs i think) and will definitely be stiffer. you can space the 150mm ones down to 140 if needs be, maybe even shorter (though im not sure). i went without a travel adjust on my latest fork and dont miss it.

id say look at other second hand stuff in similar condition and price it the same as that, maybe a teeny bit more. its not like its better because its team and whilst many people probably think it looks good on team bikes they probably dont care enough to pay more for it. depends how keen you are to get rid of it i guess, you dont want to be stuck with green team kit if they change to a different colour next year do you? :P

ivan, the evil is also quite long in the top tube, 23.75 ish for a large if i remember rightly. not going to get a good deal on a 2010 one for a while i wouldnt have thought. of the two.

for a slack, solid ht id go for the bfe, especially with the dh sessions in mind. im sure the p7 would be better for all round xc but from what i know of the previous version its no lightweight so the bfe probably wouldnt disadvantage you any in those stakes, especially if you had a u-turn fork on it.

    so yeah, bfe!

    class!

run 'er 1×9 with a e13 lg1+, that will drop nearly a pound and suit that bike down to the ground.

you are definitely going to pinch flat that rear tire on a bike like that! i ran one for a bit, it was great for acceleration and dry drifty corners but didnt like the rocky stuff too much.

i ride my local stuff 1×9 but thats nothing too steep, and where it is steep its just a quick 30 second grunt.

i also use it round the peak weekly and its fine, never had to get off due to gearing. im not in amazing shape but im not a fatty bum bum either. always pushed a gear rather than spun though,

true epicsteve, the bfe is hard to beat. i reckon id probably choose a bfe over an alpine too. ive gone for a sovereign over both though :D

dont know why they havent put iscg mounts on.

agree on the seatstay/ seat tube thing, i really like black bikes but that one doesnt od much for me. not too keen on the red around the decals either.

there was a guy on here a couple of years ago who had a pretty pimp nomad. he put up one of those 'my new bike' threads and said something along the lines of 'this is my new rig, she is called Black Justice.' with caps and everything. it made me snigger and think of the comic book store guy from the simpsons. funnily enough it cured me of my hankering for a nomad!
