Used to ride down there after work (park at the leisure centre) was quite good fun, what's it like now not been for years!

the front side of hemlock hasnt changed much really, a few new lines and the odd tweak of the jumps. the back side where the dirt jumps is quite different though, some local guys are putting a lot of work in. there isnt really a fully rideable set right now but you can see what its going to look like and theres some really well made stuff; great berms, really well shaped jumps and some seriously big stuff. a few cheeky little chutes from the top down to the dirt jump too which are good fun.

over on the leisure centre side of things its all been re-done, none of the singletrack is like it used to be, its been gravelled and stepped for the dog walkers.

I run my (new model) sovereign at 160 for the downs and 140 for regular stuff, feels great!

they are a real hoot arent they? id got out of the habit of just 'playing' on my bike when i didnt have time for a ride. my sovereign has got me back in to squeezing in an hours razz down hemlock stone, my local bike playground. love it!

wow! thats not much more than i paid for a class 6. will it actually make any difference with this particular camera or is 6 as good as is necessary?

bad luck with the muvi, hope you get a refund!

also hope the eay one is alright cos im waiting for mine too. if they are any good i might get a few more for gifts, experimenting with various positions etc, see if i cant get a discount on the postage with a larger order or something.

i think the axle kit is less than £15 fwiw. definitely the best £100 you could spend after bolt thru fork.

theres a 5 colours thred knocking about somewhere too.

i have the tech m4's on one bike and the new saints on the other. both great brakes. the x4's definitely have enough power for any situation i find mself in, the saints are great though, hard to explain how good they are; such a light feel at the lever thats easy to apply without locking but massive power just waiting on tap.

my old man has the x2's and they are plenty for him. im sure they would be plenty for most but they dont 'feel' as powerful. maybe x2 rear m4 front?

i take it your old revs were qr stuartie_c?

if you want plush then go for a coil fork, its a shame fox dont put high and low speed compression on their 32 forks but the rlc vanilla is still very good.
if you want an air fork you cant go wrong with a float, revelation or one of the new magura thors. shop around and if it comes down to it, go for the one you like the colour of lol.

buy one of those teeny muvi copies off ebay. less than 15 inc postage, plus a tenner if you want a faster memory card.

id want to make sure i factored in a decent set of forks too, plus if you go xtr then it will cost you to keep it at that.

to be awkward can i say alu/xt?

only kidding, never felt any difference between ti and steel besides weight so id say steel, xt and a holiday/ skills day/ new kit/ pressie for the mrs.

lots of ti lovers will disagree im sure and im sure there is a difference, i just didnt 'get' it myself.

unless you are panning on going nuts you should be fine if they are ok here.

good excuse for a new set of wheels though…

going 1×9 will save you a lump too, especially if you are running a tensioner already. its not for everyone but its simple, keeps your chain on and saves nearly a pound.

id go for an ibeam seat/post combo, they save you quite a bit, esp if you have a tough butt and can get on with the i-fly (like me 8) ). both wiggle and crc have had good offers on them recently too.

what pedals do you use? you can save 1/2lb over chunky flats if you get some ti axles wellgo mags off ebay. £50ish from hong kong. doh! just saw you run spds.

i can recommend the 2010 revs, i noticed the difference in weight but i was taking off talas 36 rather than pikes

yep, thats ok, you know you have to put the diaphragm and cap back on, turn the lever vertical, pump it a few times, put the lever flat again, remove diaphragm and top it up again?i think thats to expel those last few bubbles.

those pics remind me why i packed up racing a long time ago!

no disrespect to anyone who rode or organised the event intended but i only get so much time free to ride and i prefer to enjoy it in a fun way rather than an 'ill look back on this and smile' way.

    well done all!

yep, track pump works with good combos but some just need a quick blast with co2 or a compressor.

it looks funny but rides good. apparently. the geo is 'nu skool' so give one a bash first, might not be your cuppa tea. something like a cotic is easy to just get on and razz, i was sorely tempted by the bfe.

looks like it mounts to the inner tabs but sits where the middle ring would so shouldnt give any worse chainline than a middle?

why dont they last on kids bikes?

cynic-al, i reckon a claimed weight is just as likely to be accurate as a pick up and guess. thanks for pointing you usual 'i know best' snipe at me though, ive not had one before and i feel so much more like part of the gang now.
